The very definition of elegant luxury, this modern villa is surrounded by a huge gated garden and has seven beautiful bedrooms. Decorated in a variety of natural materials including exposed wooden beams and natural stone panelling, the villa is an interior design masterpiece. With all the little luxuries modern travellers need and surrounded by nature, it's tucked away in an idyllic location.

The living room is open plan and has an endless amount of floor space, with quilted velvet sofas in greige, with matching pouffes and armchairs in glossy white. A formal dining table with classy black chairs dominates one side, while a projector screen occupies another - perfect for gathering around to watch a movie.

The bedrooms have a mixture of king and twin size beds, with hardwood floors and grey tones, providing a perfect canvas for other colours to pop against it. Art adorns the walls subtly, while floor to ceiling windows ensure the villa is soaked in light. From the balconies, look out at the luscious countryside views and enjoy a glass of wine. Up to 14 guests can stay here, so this villa is absolutely perfect for groups of families or friends travelling together.

Luxurious bathrooms are slick and modern, with speckled granite details, natural stone tiles and a sprinkling of dark wood. Some rooms are blessed with huge bathtubs, while others have fantastic showers and heated towel rails. One even lights up bright blue thanks to UV lighting - so unique.

The kitchen is smartly styled in glossy black topped with wood, with chrome appliances and an extractor fan. There's plenty of space for self-catering and guests can dine indoors or enjoy a picnic on the lush lawn that borders the outdoor pool.

There are two shimmering pools - one is indoors, has galleried seating and is perfect for serious swimmers, while the outdoor pool is great for a relaxing dip after a long day visiting the sights of Corfu. Cosy blue chairs, umbrellas and sunbeds by the pool are great for curling up and enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine. The indoor pool glows at night, just like bioluminescent plankton in the deep ocean.

The villa enjoys a unique countryside location, close to Danilia village, where many Hollywood movies have been filmed, such as the James Bond film 'For Your Eyes Only' and the BBC television series 'The Durrells.' Danilia has a fascinating history, as it was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake and rebuilt by a businessman called Bouas in the 1970s. Now, it serves as an open-air museum of bygone times.

Visitors can take a tour of the village with its antique bakery and blacksmith, two picturesque open squares and traditional cafe and an old church. The charming, crumbling architecture is in shades of sienna and ochre, peppered with colourful shutters.

A visit to Gastouri is a popular choice for visitors to Corfu. The village is also known as Acheillio, after the famous summer palace of Empress Sisi of Austria. Located just 30 minutes' drive away, the palace draws intrigue due to its historical and cultural significance. The palace was built in 1898 by an Italian architect and Greek sculptor with inspiration from Greek mythology. Iconic statues of Zeus, Hera and Achilles himself are dotted around the palace, which is surrounded by dazzling gardens and boasts incredible views of the Ionian Sea.

Corfu is the second largest of the Ionian islands and has strong Venetian influence in the architecture, as well as Byzantine. The name means 'a pair of peaks' as the island has two hills topped with fortresses that defended the island from the Ottoman Empire. The largest of the hills has a lighthouse with spectacular views over the sea.

The Old Town has a myriad of narrow, winding lanes, filled with Venetian and Neoclassical architecture, painted in sunny yellow and orange. Just off Spianada Square, where locals congregate, is the Old Fortress on the site of an acropolis atop a rocky peninsula. Visitors can walk up to the highest point for breathtaking views, passing a small chapel and museum along the way.

Liston Arcade, full of famous cafes and a promenade inspired by the Rue de Rivoli in Paris is also nearby - it is so atmospheric with its graceful archways. It's a perfect spot for people-watching with a coffee in hand.

A popular trip from Corfu is to nearby Pontikosini (Mouse Island) where there is a tiny Byzantine monastery surrounded by pine and cypress trees. According to local legend, this is the spot of Ulysses' ship after it was turned to stone by Poseidon. The island gets its name as it's said to be the outline of a mouse when you look at it from a bird's eye view.

A day at the beach is what springs to mind when booking a holiday to Corfu - and with so many to choose from, you could try a different beach every day! Canal d'Amour is a popular beach in Sidari, the northwest side of the island. This beach has gorgeous sand and turquoise water, but the unique element is the rectangular rock with a gap that you can swim through on a calm day. It's said that couples who swim through together will get married within the year.

A spectacular beach on the west side of the island is Agios Spyriodon - you can drive across the island to reach it. Two tone, crystalline waters make up the bay and an endless stretch of golden sand makes up the beach. Many of the beaches have pebbles in this area, so this beach is considered one of the best. The monastery of Agia Ekaterini stands proudly nearby, as well as plenty of coffee shops and restaurants.

There are plenty of tasty treats to tuck into on Corfu, such as bourdeto, which is rockfish in a tomato sauce with plenty of onions and garlic, and pastralio, with fried aubergine layered with cheese and baked with boiled eggs, pancetta or salami, with a tomato and basil sauce. For the adventurous, try sofrito - veal cooked in a wine sauce with white pepper and garlic and served with rice or mashed potato.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

There's so much to offer families who book a holiday in Corfu. There's plenty for kids to experience all over the island, from the glorious beaches to interactive, child-friendly museums. At the villa, kids will have a great time swimming and splashing around and roaming free in the garden.

One of the best water parks in Europe is right in the centre of the island. Aqualand boasts 36 water slides and 15 adventure pools, and caters for the whole family. There are lazy rivers, rafting and kayaking galore, and for little ones, there are dedicated shallow pools with gentle waterfalls. Daredevils will love the Extreme Zone which has slides with sheer drops and a black hole.

The interactive museum of Corfu's history, Casa Parlante, is bound to impress the most sceptical of kids. Slot the objects displayed into the scenes from history, and watch them enjoy the sensory interaction of sounds, smells and even robotics. It really brings to life what life was like for Corfu's 18th-century nobility.

One of the most spectacular ways to see the island is by horseback. Guided treks are available that wind through charming local villages, picturesque paddocks with sheep and olive groves. New riders will adore cantering through the countryside - watch them fall in love with horse riding.

Marine lovers will enjoy the Aquarium for the chance to get up close and personal with exotic fish, eel and lobsters. It's a great place to cool off from the midday sun - if they are really awestruck, take them on a glass bottomed boat to see the sea creatures in their natural habitat. Getting to see beneath the waves will be a dream come true!

Of course, children will adore Corfu's stunning beach days - Agios Gordious beach is bound to captivate little ones - swimming in the jade waters, strolling on the sand and building sandcastles.

Locals are very welcoming towards children and are often slipping them little presents and tasty treats, especially in the tavernas. Adventurous kids will love trying out Corfiot cuisine!
