Overview

Pool Wellness Ideal for Kids All Bedrooms En-Suite

The story began with a dream… the dream of a family who discovered three old stone hamlets in the beautiful Luberon and who decided to restore them, to plant organic vines and fruit trees and to nurture the land with great love and respect.

The result is three beautifully restored stone hamlets spread out across 40 hectares of rolling hills and typical Provençal landscape. Le Hameau du Berger, Villa Les Terrasses and Le Hameau de l’Horizon.

Le Hameau de l’Horizon is a high quality, beautifully preserved hamlet with two swimming pools, a spa and tennis court, perched up on a hill with breath-taking views across the landscape to Mount Lure and the mauve coloured hills of the Grand Luberon. Up here it’s all about nature, peace and extraordinary calm.

The hamlet is set in 40 hectares surrounded by unspoilt landscape with charming gardens designed by Jean-Noël Capart, which were designed to be in perfect harmony with the site’s past and the traditions of its people. The tennis court and boules pitch amidst the lavender fields provide moments of pure and authentic relaxation…

The ‘upper house’ is surrounded by two beautifully furnished terraces with exceptional views, three en-suite bedrooms with large en-suite bathrooms, large living room with magnificent fireplace and a large kitchen with dining area.

The ‘lower house’ has a lovely shady terrace opening out onto a beautiful garden area near the swimming pool, three en-suite bedrooms and a charming Provençale summer kitchen with dining area.

A lovingly renovated mas has recently added an additional four en suite bedrooms to the estate as well as a spacious living room with a wonderful open fire, a beautiful kitchen and a dining room with space for everyone to meet for sociable feasts. A second swimming pool has also been added close to the mas whilst two further king-size double bedrooms can be found next to the spa area with its hammam, gym, sauna and relaxation rooms.

Le Hameau de l’Horizon is an exceptional estate offering peace and quiet and a real feeling of being at one with nature and this truly beautiful part of France.

Viens is an ancient village with a medieval atmosphere boasting many original features including the clock tower and the two Maisons de Monier. Viens is located on the border of the Alpes de Haute Provence, the heart of the Luberon and surrounded by beautiful lavender fields, providing you with boundless activities and attractions for all the family.

Within the Luberon National park the charming villages and beautiful scenery offer an ideal setting for hiking, cycling, and even kayaking along the Sorgue. Many of the quint hilltop villages have maintained their original features with castles, caves and historical artefacts to discover, including one of the most spectacular at La Tour d’Aigues which still has its dungeons. Other activities include the Barben Zoo, Accrobranche and horse-riding.

The town of Apt, with its sprawling weekly market each Saturday and Tuesday is an unmissable trip. The town is full of charm and tradition with winding streets and ancient fountains. Indulge in the local cuisine and delicacies in one of the many pavement cafes with views of the Luberon and sweet smelling lavender surround you.

Le Hameau de l’Horizon is within close driving distance of the archetypal Provencal villages of Bonnieux, Lacoste, Menerbes, Gordes and Roussillon. Famous Avignon, the capital of Provence, and Aix-en-Provence, one of France's most beautiful university towns, are only about 1hr30mins away from this Provencal hamlet.

Region

With some of the most enchanting landscapes of Provence, the Luberon awaits with its idyllic perched villages, swathes of lavender, cherry trees, vineyards and dense forest.

Become captivated by the scenery as you potter around artistic Gordes with its atmospheric Tuesday morning market before heading to hilltop Ménerbes, the village that inspired Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’. Romantic Bonnieux enjoys the most glorious vistas, surrounded by a sea of vines and orchards, whilst red-hued Roussillon will take your breath away with its ochre landscapes and pine forests. They are all officially classified as ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ in France.

Yet there are so many hidden gems to explore as well. Discover the historic doorways, windmills and summer cherries of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, then head to Goult to embrace its Provençal charm with little shops and pavement cafes. Surrounded by fields of lavender, Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is another historic jewel of the Luberon, often overshadowed by the handsome and historic town of Apt.

To the south of the Luberon, follow Albert Camus’ footsteps in Lourmarin, sip coffee by the picturesque bassin lined with plane trees in Cucuron and soak up the history of Ansouis – all three villages have a fine reputation for their high-end dining with a choice of Michelin starred restaurants.

Indeed, across the region look out for restaurant terraces serving Provençal cuisine with superb vistas alongside characterful markets showcasing seasonal delights from the Luberon and beyond (olives, melons, strawberries, cherries, truffles, chestnuts, lavender products and more). Most villages host a lovely weekly market whilst the largest in the Luberon is held on a Saturday morning in Apt. Just on the edge of the Luberon, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is famed for its antique stores and Sunday morning brocante. Meanwhile, wine lovers should visit the vineyards and wineries of the region producing Luberon and Ventoux AOC wines.

The walking, hiking and cycling opportunities in the Luberon seem endless and you will also find horse-riding, rock-climbing and tree-top adventures as well as canoeing and kayaking along the Sorgue near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Come across hiking trails for all abilities passing vineyards and forest or venture through the hills and mountain gorges for spectacular scenery. Cycling is also extremely popular – as well as more challenging routes, we especially love the family-friendly Véloroute du Calavon, a paved voie verte following a former railway line near the Calavon river passing poppies, lavender and orchards so typical of the Luberon.

  • Fabulous!

    on 22/09/2020

Fabulous! Amazing views, decorated and maintained to a very high standard. Professionally managed. Accessible to all the key towns and villages of the area further down the valley but benefits from wide open spaces, calm and superb facilities on site.
Many of Oliver’s Travels’ properties are privately owned and turned over to rental once the owners no longer have a use for them - as such they are full of character but sometimes a little tired. This property is a professionally run rental business, with a high level of investment and maintenance of the premises. First class!

  • Beautiful

Beautiful place, very comfortable and delicious food.

  • Stunning property!

    on 02/07/2018

Perfect place to get away from everything. Property itself has been beautifully restored and great for a big group to unwind and relax. Views of the Luberon from the terrace are stunning.

  • Stunning Villa and views

    Created on 02/05/2017

Stunning farmhouse in the Luberon. The location was a little off the beaten track in the Luberon which made it even more delightful. Easy drive to top class restaurants on hill tops or in vineyards and great cycling / walking. Views from the villa and garden were beyond belief and the garden, pool and tennis court were beautifully maintained. We will go back for sure!

  • The hameau is a gem

    on 10/07/2016

This little holiday to discover the Luberon was absolutely perfect. The Hameau is a gem, and the staff welcomed us in an impeccable manner. I must also give a special mention to Olivier who did everything, making this holiday an absolute success.

  • A slice of heaven
