Located just to the east of the Lilleau des Niges nature reserve, you will reach this charming and traditional-styled four-bedroomed villa along the pretty, tree-lined streets near Portes en Ré. Perfect for families with guests of all ages, the single-storey Maison Aures features a fenced and heated pool, and is the ideal base from which to explore the wonderful Ile de Ré.

Your open-plan living space is bright and airy, with a vaulted ceiling typical of the local homes. A sofa, desk and chairs sit just alongside a set of patio doors, which bring in plenty of natural light during the day. Enjoy dinner together at the farmhouse-style dining table, with easy and relaxed service from the kitchen. There’s an additional cosy television lounge with a DVD player too, perfect for keeping the kids occupied while you prepare a delicious meal.

Tastefully appointed, with homey wooden furniture and a nautical theme to the décor throughout, this authentic, single-storey villa has three bathrooms, and is ideal for guests with limited mobility. The stone walls and floor tiles help to keep the villa cool in summer, with heating available in the bedrooms if you require.

The master bedroom features a double bed, a wall-mounted television, a private bathroom with bathtub and portes-fenêtres that open to the garden. Your guests can choose from another double room, a twin room, and a children’s room with a bunk bed. The villa has three bathrooms in total, as well as a laundry room with a washer and dryer.

A lounge area awaits just outside the indoor living area, with plenty of comfortable seating for all the family – perfect for winding down with a barbecue and drinks after a day at the coast. The heated swimming pool features submerged steps, with sun loungers at the water’s edge and an outside shower. The pool is fenced, giving added peace of mind for those visiting with small children.

Head north into the picturesque village of Portes en Ré, where you’ll find fabulous bakeries, supermarkets and a terrific artisanal market each summer morning, with no shortage of restaurants serving exquisite local cuisine – including the seafood that’s helped make this island so famous among gourmets.

The Trousse-Chemise golf course is very close by, where the Atlantic breeze adds an extra, challenging element to a predominantly flat but pleasant round.

You’ll only be short strolls, drives or cycle rides from stunning coastlines, beautiful walks in woodlands and around pretty villages, on a varied and magical island that the French love to visit for holidays.

You’ll find everything required for your stay and much more in the stores of Portes-en-Ré (2km), with superb bakeries, markets and a fabulous seafood market, as well as some of the best restaurants on the island. There are fishing excursions available here and around the island, as well as motorboat trips that give you a feel for the Atlantic waves!

A beautiful and wild stretch of the coastline awaits within a 300m walk where there are some amazing beach walks at low tide. Maison Aures is also just a five-minute drive or cycle ride from Plage de la Patache, one of the many other terrific beaches nearby, all with unique characteristics. Here, you’ll enjoy more ocean-view walks – with glorious sunsets – with the chance to sample the local seafood at a fabulous oyster shack.

The island’s picturesque ‘capital’ of Saint Martin de Ré is just over twenty kilometres away, and is a real treat for those looking for an afternoon shopping. Ile de Ré is known as the ‘Hamptons of France’, so you’ll not be surprised to find high-end boutiques, along with refined cafés and Michelin-starred restaurants. There are plenty of more moderately-priced clothing and souvenir shops though, so don’t worry if you aren’t planning to break the bank! Keep an eye out for the donkeys in trousers – yes, really!

If you fancy a day off the island, the delightful harbour town of La Rochelle is an hour away by car, including the three kilometre journey over the bridge that joins Ile de Ré to the French mainland. The busy harbour features innumerable photo opportunities, along with terrific fish restaurants and artists’ market stalls. Head into the ‘old town’ to find superbly preserved buildings with centuries of history attached, many of these now housing tempting boutiques. The famous La Rochelle towers are a must-see, and you won’t want to return to Maison Aures empty-handed after a visit to the famous market hall.

This family villa has a twin room, along with a bunk bed room, so you might have to toss a coin to decide who occupies the top bunk! The fenced, heated swimming pool provides hours of fun for guests of all ages, with sun loungers at the poolside so you can keep an eye on younger swimmers.

Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions may be amended from time to time.

Security deposit €1500 charged to clients credit card by the owner as a pre-authorisation upon arrival and refunded 2 weeks after departure, subject to full inspection.
Arrival time 5.00 p.m.
Departure time 9.00 a.m.
Energy costs included? Yes (excluding electricity from October to April, which is subject to an extra charge, payable locally.).
Linen & towels included? Bed and household linens can be hired on site for an extra cost of €35 per person.
End of stay cleaning included? Extra €230.00, payable to Oliver’s Travels at the time of balance payment. However, guests are required to leave the accommodation clean, tidy and in the same condition as on their arrival. Any extra cleaning, laundry, maintenance and/or garbage disposal required will be charged against the security deposit.
Tax French Visitors Tax payable to Oliver's Travels at the time of balance payment (typically costs €1-€10 per adult per night- please enquire if exact amount is required).
Pool opening dates? The pool is open approximately May to September. Please note that pool opening dates are subject to local weather conditions and pool maintenance requirements and that cooler months may not be suitable for swimming.
Pool heating charge? Included. Please note that like all heated pools, pool heating and water temperature are reliant on weather and outside temperatures.
Changeover day Saturday only in April, most of July, August, September, part of October. Tuesday over Xmas/NY. Flexible during all other periods.
Minimum stay 14 nights from mid-July to mid-August. 7 nights during all other periods.
Smoking Allowed? Outside only.
Pets welcome? Not allowed.
