Region

The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid back and positively infectious. Relax in bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River, or wander among the forests and hillside of the Périgord Natural Park.

The foodie scene too, is a relaxed affair. Take your time over your lazy lunches of local duck, black truffles and goats cheese. If you’re feeling energetic, you can even hunt for them yourself. The wine here is second to none, with infamous grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chenin Blanc all having a huge presence here.

The Dordogne is also brimming with history. Castles and chateaux are scattered throughout the region, among the enchanting medieval villages. History of an altogether more ancient sort can also be explored in the incredible prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.

Reviews

  • Best accommodation in the region

    on 30/09/2023

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. We really felt at home here and completely relaxed. We loved the swimming pool, hay barn and garden for badminton and football training. This is the best accommodation we have stayed in in this region.

We visited Domme and Sarlat for gaufre and chocolat chaud and played golf at Roche Bois.

  • An Exceptional Stay

    Created on 09/09/2023

We had an exceptional stay at Maison Du Noyer. The house is sublime, with its large swimming pool and its pleasant outdoor area. The beds are incredibly comfortable. In addition, the presence of the two kitchens equipped with all necessary equipment was highly appreciated.

Thank you for welcoming us and for your valuable advice.

    Looking forward to coming back!

  • A very nice holiday!

    on 30/08/2023

We had a very nice holiday and enjoyed all the beauty that the house has to offer, inside and out. The owner did their utmost to make us happy.

  • Truly Beautiful

    Created on 02/06/2023

We had a wonderful holiday at Maison Du Noyer. The house and garden, it feels like an estate, are beautifully cared for and all amenities are provided. The location is truly beautiful, and worth a special mention is the large old hay barn that has been converted into a huge outdoor terrace, including an outdoor kitchen. We will definitely come back!

  • Hope to visit again!

    on 08/05/2023

Thank you for letting us use Maison Du Noyer as a holiday home. As mentioned, a lot of privacy, a large swimming pool, luxurious finishing of the house, very good equipment and enough equipment that you do not have to wash dishes every day, wonderfully cool bedrooms and very friendly owners. For the non-French speaking people, one of the owners is an English teacher and that makes it very easy. Back to the Netherlands early tomorrow, we certainly hope to visit this house again...
Actually, I shouldn't be so positive at all because then everyone will want to come here ???? but that's not fair to the owners.

  • We were so sad to leave...

    on 06/05/2023

The owners were so welcoming, we had a tour of the farm and a lovely walk through the alleys. On Saturday evening we enjoyed a pizza dinner with them and their delightful 3 children. Christina ordered from the local pizzeria, Chez Bikini, it was delicious.

When the owner said J'adore Salviac we felt emotional, working in a place you love AND doing work you love is truly the dream. We wish them every success in supporting visitors to the area.

Thank you for your exceptional service, we were so sad to leave….

  • Fantastic stay

    on 30/09/2022

Thoroughly enjoyed it! Not only beautiful grounds, but also everything the countryside has to offer. Deer, swallows, butterflies, the white lady…. and of course the sheep!

Thank you to the owners for the fantastic stay and for the unforgettable tour you guided!

  • Beautiful house

    on 26/09/2022

We had a very relaxing holiday in your beautiful house. Our time was spent visiting many of the local towns with relaxing afternoons by the pool. The house has been beautifully restored/renovated and offers an extremely comfortable stay in a quiet and unspoilt part of France.

  • Beautiful

    on 16/09/2022

Maison Du Noyer, a very beautiful old farmhouse that has been furnished and decorated with great care and taste. We had a great week with lots of sun and a nice swim in the lovely pool.

Thank you and good luck with the house.

  • Wonderful

    on 11/09/2022

We had the most wonderful week at Maison Du Noyer. The house has been beautifully restored by the owners and there was plenty of room for us, our three boys and dog to explore. The setting is private, quiet and relaxing. The heated pool was lovely and warm and we spent most of the week relaxing poolside and using the great outdoor kitchen and dining area. The house is well equipped, inside and out and we would highly recommend Maison Du Noyer to anyone wanting to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the French countryside.

  • Wonderful house

    on 10/09/2022

What a wonderful house, surroundings and, above all, wonderful people!

To the owners, you are truly wonderful hosts for your guests. Thank you for your kind 'extra' Saturday for welcoming us earlier than planned when Janet had a migraine.

The house has been beautifully restored into a beautiful holiday home. The quiet area, a bakery 6 minutes by bike, it gives a very French feeling. A week is too short to enjoy this beautiful house and its surroundings.

Good luck with this beautiful holiday home.

  • A wonderful holiday in a great house

We had a wonderful holiday in a great house with all the facilities you would expect during your holiday.
