Overview

Pool Villa/House Modern Beach Nearby Ideal for Kids Laptop Friendly Workspace All Bedrooms En-Suite Parking Space

Close to Porto Vecchio’s idyllic Plage de Santa Giulia, this high-end abode sleeps up to 10 guests in contemporary style, set in a glorious garden with a heated swimming pool.

The features of this modern holiday home seem endless – when not relaxing in the open-plan living room or cooking up a feast in the elegant kitchen, and serving it on the covered outdoor dining terrace, then you could be watching a movie in the cinema lounge or accompanying youngsters in the games and reading room. There’s also a brilliant gym, not to mention ping-pong and even swings on the picturesque lawn for the younger guests.

The vast grounds are wonderfully landscaped with olive trees, oaks and summer colour alongside stonework to add to the authentic outdoor Corsican ambience. This contrasts perfectly with the modern décor inside air-conditioned Villa Suttana with its five spacious bedrooms, each one with an en suite bath or shower room.

The location is appealing as well, in an attractive residential area with easy access to Porto Vecchio to the north and Bonifacio to the south. Even closer is the gorgeous bay at Plage de Santa Giulia, 3.5km by car, with its beachside restaurants, watersports, soft sand and crystal-clear water. Plage de Palombaggia is just a little further, as is the pine-backed Plage de Tamaricciu, two of Corsica’s most iconic beaches.

Dine out in the evening in Porto Vecchio, a mere 6km away, or drive to the exquisite citadel of Bonifacio, just under half an hour away, perhaps combined with a boat tour of the southern Corsica coastline. Hike through the Forêt de l'Ospédale, sample wines near Sartène or even venture towards the Col de Bavella - there really are so many wonderful ways to appreciate the incredible scenery of this beautiful island.

In southern Corsica, Villa Suttana is conveniently situated in an attractive residential setting with easy access to the road that connects Porto Vecchio to the north and Bonifacio to the south, and only 3.5km from the beautiful Plage de Santa Giulia.

Santa Giulia Beach is one of southern Corsica’s most idyllic bays and it is much loved by visitors from across the region. With gently-shelving shallow water and soft sand, it’s a paradise for all ages and there is a small handful of beachside seasonal restaurants as well as water-skiing and other summer watersports.

Continue onwards towards the wonderful Plage de Tamaricciu (6km) and Corsica’s iconic Plage de Palombaggia (7km), both long stretches of sandy shores with turquoise coloured water, backed by umbrella pines, again offering beautiful beachside restaurants and bars as well as seasonal watersports. To the south, Plage de Rondinara (16km) is another gorgeous bay or drive towards Figari and beyond, stopping off at gems such as Plage de la Tonnara (28km) and Roccapina (40km).

Porto Vecchio (6km) is a glamourous town within easy reach with an atmospheric old quarter filled with café terraces, restaurants and shops alongside the marina. Look out for boat tours whisking you away to the remote Lavezzi Islands – pack a picnic and water!

Bonifacio (24km) is a must-visit during your time in southern Corsica thanks to its exquisite citadel perched above the limestone cliffs and the town’s famous, steep stairs leading all the way down to the sea. Enjoy a lunch out in one of the citadel’s traditional Corsican restaurants before hopping on a boat excursion of this mesmerising part of the coastline. The coast around here is also a paradise for walkers and horse-riding enthusiasts as well as watersport lovers.

To explore other parts of the island, drive to Sartène (63km) to soak up its rich Corsican heritage, steep lanes and stunning surroundings or, closer to home, venture into the Forêt de l'Ospédale for hiking trails and more spectacular scenery. The rugged landscapes of the Col de Bavella are another highlight of southern Corsica, ideal for keen walkers and outdoor adventurers.

Region

From the family-friendly beaches of Porto Vecchio to the dramatic mountain peaks of the Col de Bavella, the southern region of the Mediterranean’s fourth largest island offers you the diverse landscapes, historic towns and iconic coastline that Corsica is so famous for.

Starting in the south-eastern corner of the island, the coastline is truly impressive with turquoise coloured water and soft sand often backed by beachside restaurants and shady trees. Embrace the scent of salt air and pines at Plage de Pinarellu with its crystal-clear sea or spend the day at Plage de Saint Cyprien famed for its gently-shelving shores and summer watersports. On the other side of Porto Vecchio bay are the two famous beaches of Palombaggia and Santa Giulia – head out early to avoid the many visitors who flock to these photogenic beaches in the height of the summer. Further south, Plage de Rondinara is yet another idyllic bay with shallow clear water and fine white sand.

Experience the glamour of Porto Vecchio, once a historic harbour and citadel, now a vibrant town increasingly loved by jet-setters who appreciate its character and natural beauty. It’s a joy to potter around Porto Vecchio’s old town in the evening with boutiques, bars and a range of restaurants for every taste (seafood, pizzas, salads as well as more traditional Corsican dishes).

The jewel of southern Corsica is arguably the exquisite town of Bonifacio with its historic citadel perched above dramatic limestone cliffs and the most incredible vistas of the sea. The citadel’s warren of medieval lanes will enchant you and there is a wealth of restaurants to choose from showcasing some of Corsica’s delicious cuisine – imagine lamb and rosemary, wild boar casserole with chestnuts, cannelloni au brocciu and Mediterranean seafood. Boats from the marina whisk you away to the Lavezzi Islands for more serene beauty. Meanwhile, keen golfers will already be familiar with the prestigious Golf de Spérone in a spectacular setting with views towards Sardinia.

Heading towards the south-west of the island, pass the wilder shores of the Figari coastline (Plage de la Tonnara is a  favourite) and venture through the mountainous landscapes of forest, vineyards and olive groves towards the mountain village of Sartène with its charming squares, restaurant terraces and wonderful market on a Saturday morning. Don’t miss pristine bays along the Valinco Gulf such as Campomoro and Porto Pollo as well as the pre-historic menhirs of Filitosa, before eventually arriving into the handsome city of Ajaccio, birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The rugged interiors of southern Corsica are also not to missed from the pine and beech forests of the Forêt de l'Ospédale near Porto Vecchio to the mountain village of Zonza and the incredible Col de Bavella peaks. Discover walking trails, hiking routes, rock-climbing, canyoning  and other adventures amidst the awe-inspiring scenery of Corse-du-Sud.

Whether you choose a rural bergerie near Porto Vecchio, a more contemporary abode overlooking the sea or a beautiful getaway with mountain views, Oliver’s Travels is proud to offer a range of hand-picked villas in southern Corsica.

One of the main attractions for families is of course the many glorious beaches of Corsica. Here you are perfectly located for reaching one of the island’s finest, Plage de Santa Giulia, where you will find soft sand, shallow water, seasonal watersports and summer beachside restaurants.

A little further along are Plage de Tamaricciu and Plage de Palombaggia, both iconic beaches of Porto Vecchio with their turquoise-coloured water and water-based activities, or discover the beautiful bay at Rondinara, heading towards Bonifacio.

Other activities in southern Corsica include horse-riding, glorious long walks and exciting outdoor adventures such as zip-lines, via ferrata and canyoning in the interiors of the rugged island. Families may enjoy a trip to Parc Aventure de Porto-Vecchio, less than 5km away, with its suspended nets, tree-top trails and go-karts, depending on age/height.

It was a wonderful place for a big family with children. Lots of privacy but at the same time great place to gather and enjoy our vacation together.

Fantastic villa in a quiet location. The perfect place for us to really unwind. Still very close to beautiful beaches and towns. However, a car is definitely a must. We would like to come again.
