Quillside Lodge features a fresh and light decor throughout, enjoying a palette of neutral tones and accents of warm wood. The lodge comes complete with everything you’ll need to enjoy a relaxing and memorable stay, with a spacious interior and delightful outdoor spaces to enjoy. The living area is the perfect spot to kick off your shoes and relax after your day’s adventure, with sumptuous sofas, well-crafted furnishings and a wall-mounted flatscreen TV for your entertainment. French doors overlook the private garden and afford guests incredible views of the glittering ocean.
The lodge also features a modern kitchenette, which has all of the appliances you’ll need to cater to you and your guests during your stay. Quillside Lodge has two double bedrooms, both with comfortable beds for relaxing and restful night’s sleep, plenty of storage, and showcasing more of those incredible island views. For your convenience, there are also two modern and beautifully designed bathrooms, making the lodge an ideal choice for two couples enjoying an island break together.
In addition, guests here can enjoy the added luxury of a private porch and garden, a wonderful spot for enjoying pre-dinner drinks and alfresco meals, relaxing with a good book, or soaking up the sun.
What you should know…
- Light rainfall can be expected on the island in April, June and September.
- The beaches on St. Eustatius are black and beige volcanic sand, and a 10 minute taxi can take you to the islands pockets of volcanic sand!
- Swimming off some of the beaches isn’t recommended due to strong currents.

About the surrounding area of Quillside LodgeQuillside Lodge is a part of the exclusive Golden Rock Resort, located on the small Caribbean island of St. Eustatius. This small but perfectly formed island is considered something of a hidden gem and is dominated by the Quill, a dormant volcano considered to be one the of the most perfectly formed specimens in the world. Nature lovers will want to visit the Quill National Park during their stay on the island, which features hiking trails suitable for all abilities along the ocean and through the lush rainforests that surround the volcano. The vibe on St. Eustatius is laid back and relaxed, with guests spending their time taking leisurely walks or enjoying time at the beach, relaxing on the soft volcanic sands and taking dips in the cool, clear waters.
Adventure-seekers will be interested to know that there are dive sites offshore where visitors can explore everything from coral reefs to shipwrecks.
Guests staying at Quillside Lodge benefit from being able to make use of all the fabulous amenities that the Golden Rock Resort has to offer, including an extensive range of fitness and leisure activities such as a swimming pool, ocean-front gym, yoga facilities, and a tennis/basketball court. If you prefer to take life at a slower pace, the resort features 40 acres of exotic gardens to meander through, with over 130,000 species of flowers, plants and trees that attract hummingbirds and butterflies.
The resort features its own man-made beach and a saltwater lagoon - fantastic for learning how to scuba dive or free dive. Here you’ll find a 30ft sunken school bus reef to explore - a unique experience that Oliver highly recommends you try!
Fine dining is a huge part of any holiday, and the resort features two exciting options. Bobbie’s Beach Club serves up delicious fusion cuisine, with everything from sushi and Caribbean BBQ to traditional Italian pizza available. The club offers guests panoramic ocean views and features hammocks and swings in the lagoon area for the ultimate luxury holiday experience. The Breeze restaurant is a must for cocktail fans, with a vast and delicious selection available, along with exquisite dishes that serve up local ingredients and a global flavour - all of which can be enjoyed while enjoying unparalleled ocean views.

Best Suited For: All AgesWith its two double bedrooms and private garden, Quillside Lodge is a lovely accommodation choice for small families. You’ll find plenty of space to relax and dine together both inside and out, and the addition of a flatscreen TV will make it easy to keep the children entertained while you prepare for the day ahead.
The kids will love having a small man-made beach right on their doorstep, as well as the opportunity to swim and try their hand at diving in the saltwater lagoon. There’s also an outdoor children’s play park for younger children.
The island doesn’t feature the typical white sands you picture when you think of the Caribbean, instead, you’ll discover volcanic beige and black sands, which are important nesting sites for endangered sea turtles - but a visit to some of these beaches are a must if you are holidaying on the island with children. Oliver recommends going to Oranjestad Bay, which is the best spot for a paddle and a cooling dip, as well as being a popular area for snorkelling. Zeelandia Beach is a stunning location too, but parents should be aware that the waters here have a strong current, so may be unsuitable for swimming.
Hiking as a family is a relaxing way to spend time with the kids (be sure to pack suitable walking shoes!), with the tropical forests surrounding the volcano full of exotic plants and wildlife to spot. Eating out with the kids can be a challenge at the best of times, but on the island of St Eustatius, it will be easy to find dishes to suit even the fussiest of palates. This small island offers an eclectic array of cuisines, from Caribbean and French to Italian and Chinese, so it should be easy to cater to all tastes during your stay.
