On the terrace you will find a fantastic outdoor living space, complete with an infinity-edged saltwater swimming pool and a secluded sunbathing area. After a refreshing dip in the pool, guests also have a covered outdoor lounge area where they can spend all afternoon relaxing in the shade with a good book. The terrace features a casual outdoor dining area and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with a barbecue grill, the perfect place to prepare memorable meals with a cocktail in hand.

Inside, the villa continues to exude effortless Caribbean charm with laidback, contemporary furnishings and design features, echoing the natural beauty of the surrounding island. Wide patio doors lead from the terrace into a stylish lounge area, where there is a sumptuous corner sofa and a large flatscreen TV, making this the ideal spot for everyone to unwind after a day spent exploring Antigua’s beaches. The open-plan lounge flows harmoniously into a spacious dining area where everyone can gather together to discuss the day’s adventures. Adjacent to the dining area, the villa’s large, well-appointed kitchen features a central island and modern appliances, with access to the villa’s outdoor kitchen. Located in the heart of the Caribbean, Antigua and Barbuda is a nation made up of two sister islands and several smaller islets. Villa Vallerie’s superb setting within the luxurious Tamarind Hills Resort means you will have access to the silky white sands of two idyllic beaches, Ffryes and Darkwood. Surrounded by dense green hilltops, Ffryes Beach is a popular spot with tourists and locals alike. Here, you can spend the day snorkeling in the turquoise waters, before indulging in an excellent dinner at one of the many restaurants on Jolly Harbour Marina, located only a five-minute drive away.

Tranquil beaches are only the beginning of all that this vibrant, friendly island has to offer. 

Slightly further afield, Nelson’s Dockyard National Park is one of five national parks in Antigua. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this eighteenth-century British naval dockyard is an area of great historical significance on the island, as well as a popular venue for maritime events and activities. For those who wish to experience the magic for themselves, there are plenty of sailing excursions and water-based activities available.

There are plenty of fantastic trekking trails around the island, taking in sandy beaches, rainforests and dreamlike coastal views. For a challenging hike, put on your hiking shoes and visit Mount Obama, the highest peak in Antigua. From the summit, enjoy the panoramic views, before descending to Cades Bay for a delightfully refreshing dip in the ocean.

Don’t forget to visit Shirley Heights, a restored military lookout known for its bewitching views and community feel. With a popular street party happening every Sunday evening, visitors are welcome to enjoy the music of live Caribbean steel drum bands, taste some of the local food and rum punch and take in the breathtaking sights as the sun begins to go down on the beautiful island of Antigua.

Antigua’s diverse landscapes and treasure trove of coastal activities will delight visitors of all ages. Watersports facilities are available throughout the island, with sea kayaking and kitesurfing experiences among the most popular. There are numerous boat tours also available, including tours to Antigua’s sister island, Barbuda. Some ninety minutes across the water, one of Barbuda’s highlights is the Frigate Bird Sanctuary, home to thousands of exotic red-throated birds. Back in Antigua, you can visit the island’s wonderful donkey sanctuary, where children are encouraged to feed the friendly animals.

A day spent hiking around Nelson’s Dockyard is another great way to get closer to nature. Ascend to the stunning panoramic views of Shirley Heights on a quiet weekday afternoon, for a scenic hike that everyone will remember. This is a relatively easy hike but do make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and pack plenty of water. You will find handy trail maps available to download online.

For an introduction to a truly important facet of Antiguan culture, why not take everyone to watch a local cricket match? The island is devoted to its national sport, which is played everywhere, though official matches tend to take place on weekends. Later, drive to St. John’s, where older children will enjoy the vibrancy and colour of the island’s capital. Here, families can visit any of the local restaurants to sample some of the island’s delicacies.

Head out for a coastal drive and within twenty minutes you will reach the Antigua Rainforest Canopy Park, where a thrilling day of rainforest adventure awaits! With experienced instructors to guide you at every point along the way, you will cross suspension bridges and rope obstacles, ziplining above the tree-tops and crisscrossing a stunning gorge. Don’t forget to take a break in the magical twin tree houses tucked away in the dense rainforest. This is an exhilarating day out that varies in intensity, with a range of family-friendly eco-activities available and options to suit all age groups.

Later, make your way home to your peaceful villa for a leisurely sunset swim and a delicious meal on the terrace. Once the stars have come out, everyone will be sure to sleep soundly after another day of island adventures!
