Superbly located on Antigua’s stunning southwest coastline, Villa Fushsia is a detached four-bedroom villa with a private saltwater swimming pool and spectacular ocean views for up to eight guests. Part of a boutique collection of villas and suites offered by Tamarind Hills, guests at Villa Fushsia are welcome to make the most of the resort’s fabulous facilities, including a private beach club, luxurious spa treatments, yoga and wellness sessions and an excellent restaurant.
The heart of this elegant villa is its vast first-floor living space, encompassing a large terrace with breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. On the terrace you will find the villa’s infinity-edged saltwater swimming pool and a secluded sunbathing area. After a refreshing dip in the pool, guests can spend all afternoon relaxing with a good book in the tranquil outdoor lounge area. The terrace also features a barbecue grill and a gorgeous outdoor dining space with panoramic views, the ideal spot to unwind with a cocktail as the sun begins to set over the island. The villa’s lush private garden leads to a bespoke gym inside.
The villa has recently been upgraded with stylish contemporary furnishings and modern finishes. Designed with laidback Caribbean living in mind, Villa Fushsia’s sleek interior provides a delightful contrast to the natural beauty of the surrounding island. Upon entering the first floor living space, guests will be greeted by a welcoming lounge area, with comfortable seating and a large flatscreen TV. This provides the perfect place for everyone to unwind after a day spent exploring the wonders of Antigua. Adjacent to the lounge, the open-plan living space includes a lovely dining area, leading into a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar. Here you will find everything you might need to prepare a memorable meal at home.
Villa Fushsia’s second floor features the chic master bedroom as well as two more bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and one with twin beds. A shared first-floor balcony boasts an outdoor lounge with 180-degree ocean vistas, where guests can enjoy a leisurely breakfast or a night of stargazing. Each of the bedrooms in the villa includes a beautiful en-suite bathroom with a walk-in rain shower.
The ground-floor suite is accessed via an internal stairway from the villa’s first floor living space. This suite features another exceptional bedroom with a king-size bed, a modern en-suite bathroom, a TV lounge and a private garden.
Air conditioning is featured throughout the villa, with ceiling fans also included in the living space and each of the bedrooms, ensuring that your nights are cool and restful. About the surrounding area of Villa FushsiaWith a truly breathtaking location in the turquoise Caribbean Sea, Antigua and Barbuda is a nation made up of two sister islands and several smaller islets. Villa Fushsia’s superb setting within the luxurious Tamarind Hills Resort on the island of Antigua provides guests with access to the silky white sands of two idyllic beaches, Ffryes and Darkwood. Surrounded by dense green hilltops, Ffryes Beach is a popular spot with tourists and locals alike. Here, you can spend the day snorkeling in the crystalline waters, before indulging in an excellent dinner at one of the many restaurants on Jolly Harbour Marina, located only a five-minute drive away.
Slightly further afield, Nelson’s Dockyard National Park is one of five national parks in Antigua. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this eighteenth-century British naval dockyard is an area of great historical significance on the island, as well as a popular venue for maritime events and activities. For those who wish to experience the magic for themselves, there are plenty of sailing excursions and water-based activities available.
There are plenty of fantastic trekking trails around the island, taking in sandy beaches, rainforests, and dreamlike coastal views. For a challenging hike, put on your hiking shoes and visit Mount Obama, the highest peak in Antigua. From the summit, enjoy the panoramic views, before descending to Cades Bay for a delightfully refreshing dip in the ocean.
Don’t forget to visit Shirley Heights, a restored military lookout known for its bewitching views and community feel. With a popular street party happening every Sunday evening, visitors are welcome to enjoy the music of live Caribbean steel drum bands, taste some of the local food and rum punch and take in the breathtaking sights as the sun begins to go down on the beautiful island of Antigua.

While the fantastic facilities at Tamarind Hills and Villa Fushsia’s idyllic oceanfront location may tempt younger visitors to stay close to home, the beautiful island around you lies waiting to be discovered.
A popular destination for watersports, sea kayaking and kitesurfing lessons are widely available along Antigua’s coastline. Boat tours are also possible, including day tours to Antigua’s sister island, Barbuda. Some ninety minutes across the water, one of the highlights of a trip to Barbuda is a visit to the Frigate Bird Sanctuary, which is home to thousands of exotic red-throated birds. Back in Antigua, you can visit the island’s wonderful donkey sanctuary, where children are encouraged to feed the friendly animals.
A day spent hiking around Nelson’s Dockyard is another great way to get closer to nature. Ascend to the stunning panoramic views of Shirley Heights on a quiet weekday afternoon, for a scenic hike that everyone will remember. This is a relatively easy hike but do make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and pack plenty of water. You will find handy trail maps available to download online.
For an introduction to a truly important facet of Antiguan culture, why not take everyone to watch a local cricket match? The island is devoted to its national sport, which is played everywhere, though official matches tend to take place on weekends. Later, drive to St. John’s, where older children will enjoy the vibrancy and colour of the island’s capital. Here, families can visit any of the local restaurants to sample some of the island’s delicacies.
Head out for a coastal drive and within twenty minutes you will reach the Antigua Rainforest Canopy Park, where a thrilling day of rainforest adventure awaits! With experienced instructors to guide you at every point along the way, you will cross suspension bridges and rope obstacles, ziplining above the tree-tops and crisscrossing a stunning gorge. Don’t forget to take a break in the magical twin tree houses tucked away in the dense rainforest. This is an exhilarating day out that varies in intensity, with a range of family-friendly eco-activities available and options to suit all age groups.
Darkwood Beach is the perfect place for everyone to enjoy a sunset swim together, before a delicious barbecue on Villa Fushsia’s terrace and a night spent relaxing under the stars.
