Location
About the surrounding area of Barrow BarnBarrow is a very pretty village and boasts the gastropub, The Weeping Willow. The meaning of the village name is grove, wood or hill, which is exactly right. A circular walk around the village is known as ‘walking around Crattle’, named after its main feature, Crattle Hill. The small hamlet of Burthorpe Green is attached to Barrow.
Bury St Edmunds is a very attractive cathedral town, surrounded by countryside and with 1000 years of history to explore. It offers award-winning restaurants, wonderful shopping, beautiful parks, the magnificent St Edmundsbury Cathedral and a delightful theatre. There are many festivals and events. The Christmas market is particularly popular. The cathedral originates from the 11th century and was rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries as a parish church. It became a cathedral in 1914. The Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds was built in 1819. A Grade I listed playhouse, it is the only surviving example of a Regency theatre in the UK. It has been fully restored and provides visitors with a unique theatrical experience. The Abbey Gardens are situated on the site of a former Benedictine Abbey and once a powerhouse of medieval England. With 14 acres of rolling hills, sculptured flower beds and historical ruins, it is a lovely spot. There is also a children’s play area, mini golf, an aviary and a sensory garden. Visitors enjoy Walk, Talk and Tasting Tours at Greene King Brewery. Based in ancient buildings, visitors can find out how the local beers are made and taste them and a delicious beer-based condiment range of chutneys, mustards and marmalades.
Barrow Barn is situated between Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket. Newmarket is generally considered to be the birthplace and global centre of thoroughbred horse racing. It is the largest racehorse training centre in Britain, the largest racehorse breeding centre in the country and home to most major British horseracing institutions. There are two Classic races and three British Champions Series held each year. There are over fifty horse training stables, two large racetracks, the Rowley Mile and the July Course. The National Horse Racing Museum is an interesting visit. It tells the story of horse racing from its royal origins to Lester Piggot, Frankie Dettori and other current stars.
The Thetford Forest offers 18,730 hectares to explore, a patchwork of pines, heathland and broadleaves. It is a welcome refuge for a rich variety of animal and plant life. Attractions in the forest include High Lidge with its exciting high ropes adventures, Mildenhall Warren and Lynford Arboretum.

Nature lovers, rejoice! The pristine, breathtaking Suffolk coast is calling your name. Aldeburgh, the coastal town with charm to spare, welcomes you with a shingle beach perfect for salty sea air inhalation, some good old fish and chips and the Aldeburgh Scallop sculpture, a tribute to the legendary composer Benjamin Britten. If you head a little further south, you will stumble upon the oh-so-peaceful village of Orford, complete with a castle on a hill offering panoramic views that will make your heart skip a beat. You can dive into the whimsical wonder of Thorpeness, head to Walberswick where beach huts and sandy shores create a haven for artists and beachcombers or Southwold, a gem with a quirky pier, a stunning beach and the famed Adnams Brewery. These seaside gems offer artsy flair and a delightful dose of coastal bliss.
Right in the beating heart of Suffolk lies Bury St Edmunds, a town so historically loaded it practically whispers tales of the medieval era. A real find. Luxury Rental Accommodation with those extra little touches
I was looking for a luxury barn conversion type of accommodation for a family get together and Oliver's Travels did not disappoint. From start to finish the booking process was easy and the information provided was plentiful, timely and very helpful. We were easily able to find the accommodation, despite it being off the beaten track, and quickly and easily accessed it following the instructions given.
The barn is lovely and the Christmas tree was a really nice touch. Very cosy and welcoming and a welcome basket plus milk in the fridge. Well stocked kitchen equipment Really comfy beds, great pillows and good quality linen. So far everything has met and exceeded expectations. Oliver's Travels checked in with us shortly after arrival to ensure all was as expected and I cannot fault the service we received. I will definitely be booking with them again.
A real find.

Beautiful!
This was our second visit to Barrow Barn and we were just as impressed as the first time. The property is beautifully furnished and the welcome pack is extremely generous. Having access to the woods to walk our dog was a real bonus. For us, this property definitely gets 10/10

Peaceful, clean and relaxing
I booked Barrow Barn for a short stay. We enjoyed every moment. From arrival, access to the property was easy and convenient and we were pleased to see that the owners had left us a gift basket filled with basic essentials. The bedrooms are spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. Although the property is located closely to the main house, this did not effect the privacy that we all felt at the property. We also could not believe how homely and cosy the property felt in the evening especially once we ignited the log fire! I highly recommend Barrow Barn and would definitely visit again.
