Thanks to its access to sprawling parks, chic restaurants, great transport links, and a touch of glamour (and kindness) granted by the Ted Lasso factor, the London borough of Richmond is considered one of the happiest places to live in Great Britain.

From marvellous tourist attractions such as Kew Gardens (13-minute walk), Great Pagoda (9-minute walk) and Hampton Court Palace (20-minute drive), to the charm of riverside eateries and cultural highlights including the nearby Marianne North Gallery (12-minute walk) and Shirley Sherwood Gallery (13-minute walk), Richmond really does have it all.

But what Richmond has more than most places in the capital is extraordinary green spaces. Approximately half the borough is parkland, comprising the vast Richmond Park where herds of deer roam ancient woods, to Bushy Park, Hampton Court Park, Old Deer Park, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and London Wetland Centre. The River Thames even runs through the borough for more than 10 miles.

Beaumont House is also close to some of the borough's most notable eateries, including The Fat Badger (20-minute walk), where you can't miss the Dorset lamb, Brindisa (20-minute walk), where you'll be wishing the tapas was on tap, or The Bingham Riverhouse where the savoury sandwiches are an afternoon delight.

The Duck and Pond Market (20-minute walk) is a great place to potter on weekends to gather in some great produce and try out some fun food stalls.

Luxury self-catering holiday accommodation in London

London, the beating heart of the United Kingdom, is not just a city, it is a full-blown party of history, culture, fine dining and modern pizzazz! Nestled alongside the meandering River Thames, London seamlessly blends tradition, innovation and entertainment, inviting you to join the fun. So, book an Oliver’s Travels luxury pad and let the adventure begin!

Buckingham Palace, home to the British monarch, is a symbol of grandeur and tradition. You are invited to the Changing of the Guard ceremony, the hottest ticket in town. Red-coated soldiers, military bands and a regal atmosphere, it is a quintessential London experience that will have you feeling like royalty in no time.

Just a skip and a jump away, you will discover the Houses of Parliament. Big Ben, their time-keeping maestro, is the star of the show, with its towering clock face eternally reminding everyone that time flies when you are having fun in London. Next door, Westminster Abbey is the Gothic VIP section, hosting royal weddings, coronations and the final resting place of the who’s who of British history.

The River Thames looks so pretty at night. Tower Bridge, the city's showstopper, with its neo-Gothic towers and suspended walkways, opens up like a welcoming embrace for passing ships. The views are so breathtaking you will be glad of the front row seat.

The South Bank of the Thames offers the Tate Modern, once a power station, now a contemporary art playground and an impressive visual feast. Shakespeare's Globe Theatre is a time machine, whisking you back to the Elizabethan era with performances that will make you laugh, cry and wonder why ruffs ever went out of style.

For the fancy folk who like a touch of class, the West End is calling. The Royal Opera House, where drama meets elegance, and Piccadilly Circus, where lights meet excitement promise a theatrical cocktail of opera, drama, musicals and comedy, the kind of party you will not forget.

London's neighbourhoods are like the cool kids in this global bash. Shoreditch, the hipster haven, is decked out in street art, trendy boutiques and a nightlife that will keep you dancing until dawn. Camden, the alternative kaleidoscope, is a treasure trove of eclectic finds while Chelsea is super cool and super sophisticated.

London has you covered with green spaces that are like chill-out zones for the soul. Hyde Park, with its sprawling lawns and serene lakes, invites you to kick back and relax. Regent's Park and Hampstead Heath offer postcard-worthy views that will make you the envy of your Instagram followers.

Let’s not forget the food - London's gastronomic fiesta! From the fragrant stalls of Borough Market to the Michelin-starred restaurants in Mayfair, it offers a culinary adventure for every taste bud. You cannot leave without experiencing the quintessential British delight, afternoon tea. Delicate sandwiches, scones and a variety of teas, it is the perfect pitstop in this non-stop party.

London is the city that knows how to blend its rich past with the electric beat of the present. Its landmarks, attractions and activities create a vibrant tapestry, inviting you to explore. Whether you are strutting down the bustling shopping streets, visiting a museum or finding zen in its green spaces, London's magnetic charm leaves an indelible mark on all who encounter its boundless allure.

Richmond's riverfront locations means one of the best activities to do in the borough is to hire kayaks or rowboats and potter along the river. But if getting out on the Thames isn't the family's idea of a fun day, then you can't go past Kew Gardens. Far from just gardens, Kew also boasts botanical glasshouses, Kew Palace and an award-winning playground.

For another unique playground experience, make your way to Hampton Court Palace, one of the last two surviving palaces owned by Henry VIII. Today the palace is open to the public and boasts an amazing Magic Garden playground, one of the best in London.

For a less manicured experience of nature, Richmond Park is a must. With over 2,500 acres of parkland and approximately 500 deer, this is a special place in London where kids and adults alike can meander through vast green spaces, ancient woods, and deer-spotted plains.

In summertime, Gelateria Danieli on Richmond Green (15-minute walk) is a must for ice cream lovers young and old. But even in winter the place serves up one of London's best hot chocolates, so there's always something to sink your sweet tooth into.

Richmond Green is also home to the The Prince's Head pub, which might not seem like a great place for kids, but as it is the favourite drinking hole of Ted Lasso, it may interest young fans of the hit TV show. Of course, in the show the pub is called The Crown & Anchor.
