The Cobblers Cottage holds a fabulous location in the pretty village of Southrop, close to the popular towns of Burford, Lechlade and Fairford. It makes a fantastic base for those wishing to stay-in-style while exploring the wonderful Cotswold region and all that it has to offer.

The cottage has been beautifully modernised, retaining its original features including the beamed ceilings and inglenook fireplace. The neutral colour scheme used throughout helps to give it a sophisticated feel and create a relaxing environment. On the ground floor is the main living accomodation which comprises of a lounge, a cosy snug and a large, fully equipped kitchen and dining room. Also on the ground floor is the first of the double bedrooms as well as a seperate shower room. Heading upstairs guests will find the king-size master bedroom, a second double room and a luxurious family bathroom.

Outside, there is a large garden, approximately a 1/4 of an acre in size with manicured green grass for the children to enjoy. There is also a terrace complete with dining facilities, the perfect spot for enjoying your morning cup of coffee or for dining al fresco on a summer's evening.

The owners have won a number of awards for their responsible, ethical and sustainable approach to tourism. The cottage is sustainable due to their "small steps approach", from insulating the properties, installing underfloor heating, LED lighting, purchasing LED lighting, purchasing green electricity to composting and recycling.

Owner Profile

How long have you owned the property?
Since 2009

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The fact that it was a heritage property dating from 1670, and that we will be looking after it for the next generation.

Are there any interesting stories in its history?
Since 1670, it has only had three owners!

Do you have a favourite room in the property?
I love the new kitchen / dining room as it is just so light and connected to the garden.

For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...

Really do?
Really do go to The Cotswold wildlife park, it’s great for the whole family and has terrific gardens. Also, Sudely Castle is somewhat of a hidden gem!

Really eat?
We love our local pub The Swan, which is just a short walk from Cobblers Cottage front door. However we have some of the best food pubs within a short drive, such as The Bell at Langford or The Plough at Kelmscot.

Really see?
Visit nearby Burford and see a real medieval town, full of history and just a five minute drive from the cottage

  • Lovely cottage in the Cotswolds

    on 08/09/2023

We had a short but lovely stay at Cobblers Cottage. Chris was extremely helpful with the booking process and provided very clear information about property. The new kitchen is great and we loved the spacious, attractive garden. The rooms were all very comfortable and full of character. Wish we could have stayed longer!

  • Brilliant time in a beautiful cottage

    on 17/04/2023

We all had a fabulous time at your cottage. Loved all the old character and the amazing garden. It was even warm enough to sit outside. The village is such a typical Cotswold village and easy to get to all the other places in The Cotswolds that we wanted to visit. We will return.

  • Perfect little cottage

A terrific cottage for our autumn getaway - loved Batsford arboretum and The Five Alls pub in Filkins. Cottage was really comfortable, we all loved it.

  • Superb stay in an amazing old cottage

    on 21/10/2021

We loved everything about our stay, it was simply perfect. We loved the way the cottage was so full of history and so comfortable and had everything we needed. It is also decorated beautifully with an amazing garden. Clearly a lot of love has been spent on Culls Cottage. We really didn’t want to leave.

  • Beautiful and perfectly stocked cottage get away

    on 29/09/2021

The Cobblers Cottage is perfectly located in the picturesque village of Southrop. We spent 9 nights there with our 2 young children and we really enjoyed spending time in the very well manicured gardens (my daughter loved seeing the bee hotel) as well as visiting some of the local attractions (Cotswold Farm Park was a huge highlight!)

The cottage itself retains all of its historical charms whilst benefitting from all mod cons (the family bathroom in particular is stunning). However, what really sets The Cobblers Cottage apart from almost every other property I have rented is how well equipped it is. The owners have truly considered everything - from a coffee machine with a generous supply of pods to every kitchen/baking utensil you could need, via ample fresh towels and a great children's toybox - this place really is a home away from home.

Thank you so much for a lovely break, we hope to visit again soon!

  • A lovely week away

    on 18/09/2021

Lovely old cottage in a good location for visiting the Cotswold towns and villages. Beautiful large garden very private and peaceful. Bed extremely comfortable and flowers in every room a lovely touch along with plenty of toiletries.

  • Lovely well appointed cottage in great area

    on 13/08/2021

Lovely well appointed cottage, you have thought of everything for a comfortable stay. The weather was mixed so we didn’t get to fully enjoy the gorgeous garden but managed to have one BBQ at least. Recommendations - Blenheim palace, Cotswold water park (inflatables on the lake we’re great fun) Cotswold range, shooting and archery fantastic. 5* Buscot park. Good food at The Victoria Inn, Eastleach, Daylesford and pizza Wednesday @Upton firehouse. Many many thanks.

  • Long Weekend

    on 02/06/2021

We all had the best stay at The Cobblers Cottage The cottage is beautiful, and has all the amenities expected. The beds were comfortable and clean, and the living area was wonderful with the log burner keeping us all warm.
We had a wonderful time exploring the nearby area and especially enjoyed visiting Burford.
Communication with the Host was always quick, polite and very informative.
I would definitely recommend a visit.
    5 stars!

  • The Cobblers Cottage is beautiful relaxing stay in Southrop

    on 13/05/2021

A stay in one of the Eco Chic Cottages requires you to make a list - a list of things you don't need to bring with you for a normal self-catering weekend away. Coffee beans, coffee pods olive oil, sea salt, pepper corns, eco friendly food bags, wraps, milk, beautiful bath and shower products, luxurious bath robe, all the kitchen cleaning paraphernalia, extra sanitiser - tick, tick and tick, the list goes on. A lovely welcoming note and a bottle of champagne awaits you and gorgeous flowers all round the cottage.
On arrival we stowed our shopping in the fridge (put various stuff back in the box we didn't need - see above :) ) grabbed a couple of nice wine glasses from the great selection, corkscrew, immediately to hand and enjoyed our takeaway BBQ meal from Upton Smokery/Sam & Jak in the evening sunshine in a beautiful garden full of blossom and the alliums getting ready to burst into flower. The cottage has everything you need to suit your mood, really comfy beds for a lie in, cosy lounge and super bathroom for relaxing bath or shower.
As keen nordic walkers we really enjoyed exploring on foot straight from the doorstep and the nearby villages only a short drive away. The 'virtual village' reference is that I found the Cotswolds almost too perfect and so many lovely buildings, churches and beauty spots in the countryside, all seems to be laid on and almost so perfect it could be virtual.....
We dropped in on the local Poulton Hill Vineyard on our way home and walked round Minster Lovell ruins - stunning and arrived home feeling relaxed and happy after our first time away in don't remember when....
There was one 'digital' element however, which was a hit and a revelation for me, to be able to load an app with the complete guide to The Cobblers Cottage and everything you could want to know about the local area direct on to your phone - so everything was immediately to hand. Amazing!

  • Relaxing stay in a beautiful cottage

    on 21/04/2021

We were very impressed with The Cobblers Cottage. Very well equipped all through especially the kitchen. Lovely free standing bath and a large walk in shower. Wood burning fire and stylish decor. The large garden was beautiful, well stocked with a large variety of plants and trees also a herb garden. The village of Southrop is very pretty and we found lovely walks from the cottage. The phone app and the folders in the cottage were full of useful information. A stay at The Cobblers Cottage is highly recommended. We will be back again!!

  • Gorgeous cottage

    on 04/11/2020

We had a wonderful stay at The Cobblers Cottage, which is has an excellent location in a very beautiful Cotswolds small village, well located to visit the highlights of the area. Extremely well equipped and very warm and cosy - essential on Autumn's cold days. We will stay again.

  • A week in the Cotswolds

    on 04/09/2019

The Cobblers Cottage is the most perfect cottage in the Cotswolds.
A beautiful home from home nestled in the fantastic village of Southrop.
Everything here has been catered for.
A fabulous garden, was well used and the cottage was in a great position to discover many other beautiful towns and village.
My family and I enjoyed the whole stay thoroughly.
    A little gem

  • Wonderful cottage

    on 13/08/2019

This is our second stay at Culls Cottage. It is a beautiful cottage, with a fabulous large garden, situated in a gorgeous Cotswolds village with a terrific local pub - what more could you want? We'll be back again

  • Beautiful cottage ideal for short stays

    on 25/07/2019

We had a wonderful stay at The Cobblers Cottage - it's a beautiful, very well maintained property, the garden is stunning and it was a great base for exploring the Cotswolds more widely.
We stayed there as a family for a fortnight and whilst we'd happily return in the future, I'd recommend it more for shorter weekend stays or up to a week max. It's so well equipped and quirky inside that almost all the internal storage and wardrobe space has been taken up with cushions, games, kitchen utensils etc - whilst this is perfect for a short trip, unfortunately it becomes a little inconvenient for longer stays like ours when you arrive more laden down. A minor challenge for an otherwise fabulous property that was a delight to experience.

  • An excellent week in a cottage of character and style with an amazing garden

    on 20/07/2019

We (a family of three) spent a very enjoyable and relaxing week at The Cobblers Cottage. The cottage is stylish, well equipped, comfortable and full of the character you would expect from such a property with contemporary furnishings complementing the warm and homely interior. Some of the internal doorways are low (as you might expect) and despite the warning notices I still managed to bang my head, something I only did once. The downstairs bedroom and wet-room suited our needs and were important factors in our decision to stay at The Cobblers Cottage

The garden at the cottage is amazing. We ate breakfast at the table and chairs beside the beautiful willow tree and enjoyed a lunch at the table and benches with visiting family. The garden is expertly landscaped with numerous predominantly white roses and a lavender horseshoe around the willow and the wild meadow grass under it’s shelter.

As stated, the drive entrance to the house is quite narrow, however we managed to manoeuvre our 4x4 in and out for the first couple of days before deciding that the roadside parking was easier.

We would have liked a longer stay at Cull’s Cottage but time unfortunately did not permit.

  • Beautiful cottage in a perfect location

    on 25/06/2019

We were fortunate to have perfect weather over the weekend we stayed at The Cobblers Cottage. The village was quiet and peaceful. The Cottage has a large garden that is well looked after. Country birds everywhere. Indoors a very practical layout with a good mix of modern with the old fixtures. It will be a very nice cottage to visit during winter and enjoy the low ceilings and the fire place. We were able to spend most of our time outdoors enjoying the views and nature in general. The walk to the next village had a well mapped route and easy to navigate. The area in general is really beautiful and very relaxing.

  • Very special place

We have had a lovely week at your excellent cottage. Came for a family ‘surprise’ birthday and everyone has loved it here. Been to Blenheim Palace, Bampton, and Highcleve Castle. We especially enjoyed the garden and we hope to come back again soon.

  • Really great

    on 17/07/2018

Thank you for having us. We have absolutely loved our stay, especially as we booked at such late notice. We loved the touches like the fire being ready to burn and the herbs in the kitchen.
