Brittany is famed chiefly for its beaches, and with so much coastline to explore it’s certainly one of the best reasons to visit the region. This intimate bolthole oozes a Marilyn Monroe-esque glamour, particularly in the boudoir which has a free-standing copper bath, a cosy mattress with mattress heater, and crisp bed linens to match. If you can tear yourselves away from in-between the sheets, explore the local village bars, markets, and restaurants, all of which are a mere 10-minute walk from the villa.

2. Maison MeneacMaison Meneac – Brittany – Oliver’s Travels
Nestled in the heart of Brittany, guests will have ample opportunity to embrace the quaint village life during their stay at Maison Meneac. Location aside, the house was tastefully refurbished in 2015 with William Morris wall coverings that seamlessly match the periodic details dotted all around the house. Choosing a villa is a hard knack, but we promise you’ll have a picked a good’un with Maison Meneac.
Chateau Lignol is a 14th century hunting lodge – a miniature castle in the middle of the Brittany countryside. Built in 1251, it was used as a hunting lodge for the Princes of Rohan from 1384 when they wanted a bolthole from the hustle of nearby Guémené sur Scorff. It is five minutes by road to a compact busy village that boasts three boulangeries, a cinema and a weekly market, as well as an active cultural life. A stay is the perfect opportunity to explore and immerse yourself in the peaceful and beautiful local area. Surrounded by farmland, this is truly rural France at its best.
