The Es Raco d’Arta resort was originally seen as a collection of small houses that had been standing since the 13th century. However, when Mallorca was experiencing a boom in its tourism industry in the 1960s, designers Antoni Esteva and Jaume Danus decided to completely renovate the grounds and transform them into an exclusive wellness resort. The Es Raco d’Arta Spa also showcases a range of traditional treatments, such as a soothing aromatherapy massage. THE REGION
The traditional town of Artá sits in the middle of a large valley at the foot of a small mountain in the northeast of Mallorca. The town rigorously clings to its heritage, making few concessions for tourism. The parish church, Transfiguracio del Senyor, dominates the largely pedestrianised centre and skyline of Artá.
Artá’s biggest attractions relate to the cultural heritage of the area. The most popular is undoubtedly the Sanctuary de Sant Salvador and the fortified battlements that surround it.
There are beaches within a short hike of town, and many who brave the walk say it’s just as beautiful as the beach itself. You are also within easy reach of the many attractions the northeast of the island has to offer, such as the Coves del Drac.

If you are travelling with teenagers who are looking to jump into an entirely new experience, a Wim Hof Method Workshop is an ideal solution. This workshop delves into a popular form of mindfulness known as the Wim Hof Method, which encourages guests to sit in an ice bath as they try to regulate their breathing patterns. Although it may seem the complete opposite of relaxation, it has built a cult fan following and is highly acclaimed by celebrities and other meditation teachers. Once the workshop is completed, the workshop leader conducts a reflection session, which allows guests to reminisce on the positive aspects of the exercise. If the ice bath seems a little too intimidating, guests are free to just complete the breathing exercises.
If you are travelling to this resort in August, you have the chance to watch the enchanting Piano and Violin Concert. This event collates musicians from across the local area, giving guests a sneak peek into the vibrancy and talent seen throughout this region. In addition, these artists are known to play a variety of classical compositions, building a sense of community and atmosphere throughout the venue. Guests must purchase a package in order to view the concert. There are three packages on offer, with the second and third offering a luxurious meal before the show starts. Therefore, this is a perfect experience for families looking to enjoy some quality time together as a group.
The resort also leads a series of art workshops that only use materials found within nature, such as branches, stones, and leaves. One particular workshop is inspired by the life and works of Hiroshi Kitamura, an artist who is well known for his entirely natural compositions. Guests will be asked to follow in Kitamura’s footsteps and forage for materials on the outdoor grounds of this resort. As such, guests are able to craft a truly off-beat piece that will consistently remind them of their trip to Es Raco d’Arta resort.
