Overview

Pool Villa/House Ideal for Kids Parking Space

Anyone looking to escape everyday life's stresses and wanting total seclusion and ultimate tranquillity will love Arta Country Villa. It sits on an astonishing three million square metres of grounds with fantastic sea and mountain views. It boasts six lovely bedrooms spread between the main finca and a small villa beside it. Arta Country Villa is located near Arta, ten minutes from the shops and restaurants of Son Serra de Marina and only ten minutes from the sea. There is direct access to stunning turquoise waters from the boundary of the grounds. There are small refurbished caves next to the house and wonderful alfresco terraces. The independent villa features two bedrooms plus its own kitchen and living area. It is a perfect set-up for two families wanting to take a holiday together and perhaps enjoy some private time.

Arta is a pretty town tucked away in a valley surrounded by the Llevant Natural Park mountains. It offers a weekly Tuesday market brimming with local pottery, which is very popular, and it boasts historic landmarks and the legendary Caves d'Arta. Sant Salvador is one of its most iconic landmarks boasting panoramic views across Mallorca's landscape to the coast. Son Serra de Marina is ten minutes away between the resorts of Can Picafort and Colonia de Sant Pere. It is often called 'Dreamland' due to its hazy mountain views and luminescent sea. The surrounding area is part of the Son Real Nature Reserve with dunes, wetlands and archaeological sites.
Further north, Can Picafort is a fantastic, family-friendly resort with a fabulous beach and a huge range of entertainment and organised sport. The nightlife in Can Picafort is different from the wild nightlife in Playa de Palma, S'Arenal and Magaluf, but it does have its charm. There are chic beach bars, a handful of clubs, and many restaurants serving delicious Mallorcan cuisine.

Arta Country House is stunning. It offers a beautiful blend of charm, space, comfort and modern amenities. You will discover many ceiling beams, mostly traditional furnishings but some contemporary ones for good measure, grand fireplaces, chandeliers, an eclectic mix of art and spacious rooms. The main finca enjoys a grand entrance, a comfy living room with direct access to the front porch, a modern kitchen with all the appliances you need for a self-catering break, an office and separate pantries and laundry rooms.

There is one bedroom on the ground floor with an ensuite bathroom with a bath and a small living room with a television. There are other three-bedroom suites on the first floor, all with ensuite bathrooms. There are kingsize beds, doubles and twin beds. The bathrooms are all modern. The separate villa is equally charming, blending old meets new. Again, the living room is spacious, opening directly to the terrace and grounds.

The swimming pool terrace is a little distance from the finca and villa, surrounded by loungers and enjoying fabulous views of the estate. It is incredibly peaceful. Your barbecue masters can cook up a storm using the barbecue, and you can dine alfresco, watching the sun go down.

Arta Country Villa enjoys a wonderfully secluded location near Arta, a picturesque rural town a few kilometres inland from the northeast coast of Mallorca. It enjoys many historic landmarks, including the Bronze Age Talaiotic settlement of Ses Paisses, the Sanctuary of Sant Salvador, the ancient fortress walls surrounding the sanctuary and the famous Caves d'Arta. It is a great place to stay to get a taste of the authentic Mallorca. The 16th-century pilgrimage church of Sant Salvador replaced the ancient parish church. Between the 16th and 18th centuries, the textile industry flourished in Arta. Arta enjoys a small museum, the Regional Museum of Arta, which can be found at Placa de Espanya inside Sa Nostra Bank.

Ses Paisses is a must-visit, one of the most important and best-preserved prehistoric sites in the Balearic Islands. It is thought to date back to 900-800 BC.

To the north of Arta is the Llevant Natural Park, a wild, hilly area with a dramatic coastline. Inside stands the Ermita de Betlem, founded by monks in 1805, complete with a solar clock, a rose window and an ancient water mill.

The Caves d'Arta is a massive tourist attraction. These thousands-year-old caves are spectacular, with countless stalactites and stalagmites in their many natural rooms. There are fascinating guided tours.

Between Can Picafort and Colonia de Sant Pere is the small seaside resort of Son Serra de Marine. Its beach is called Sa Canova, surrounded by dunes and countryside. It is very peaceful.

Can Picafort be a fun place to be? The long promenade is fun for walkers, cyclists and rollerbladers. You will pass by plenty of beach bars for an early morning cup of coffee or a cocktail later. The beach has pedal boats, watersports and fun inflatable rides. In the summer months, there are a lot of market stalls selling clothing and souvenirs.

The Finca Son Real is a stunning, traditional finca open to tourists outside Can Picafort. You can explore the traditional agriculture of Mallorca and enjoy the beautiful gardens. There are hiking, riding and cycling trails. It will give you a feel for the real Mallorca.

Also, just outside Can Picafort is the delightful Sa Bassa Blanca Museum. It is in a beautiful Hispano-Moorish building with appealing white domes, tiled floors, doors, and unique gardens. The museum is full of curiosities, sculptures and various collections of modern and contemporary art and photographic exhibitions. The gardens are stunning and adorned with granite animals and a wish tree created by Yoko Ono, where branches are tagged with visitors' personal hopes and wishes.

Further north, you will come to Alcudia Old Town and the Bay of Alcudia. Alcudia Old Town is lovely and picturesque. The narrow cobbled streets are littered with fabulous restaurants, chic boutiques and colourful Romeo and Juliet balconies covered in flowers. The town hosts many cultural events, traditional fiestas and classical music festivals. The 19th-century Neogothic parish church of Sant Jaume is worth a visit. If you go on a Tuesday or Sunday, you will experience the buzzy markets selling souvenirs, linens, leather goods and jewellery. It’s a great time to go.

THE REGION

The traditional town of Artá sits in the middle of a large valley at the foot of a small mountain in the northeast of Mallorca. The town rigorously clings to its heritage, making few concessions for tourism. The parish church, Transfiguracio del Senyor, dominates the largely pedestrianised centre and skyline of Artá.

Artá’s biggest attractions relate to the cultural heritage of the area. The most popular is undoubtedly the Sanctuary de Sant Salvador and the fortified battlements that surround it.

There are beaches within a short hike of town, and many who brave the walk say it’s just as beautiful as the beach itself. You are also within easy reach of the many attractions the northeast of the island has to offer, such as the Coves del Drac.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Arta County Villa is ideal for a family holiday. The main finca and a separate villa are perfect for two families or a multi-generational holiday. The grounds are seriously extensive, and the pool is a delight.

Children love the Caves d’Arta. They have been carved out by water over thousands of years and are massive, full of stalactites and stalagmites begging to be explored. During the tour, children will learn how it was once a pirate hideaway.

If you head up to Alcudia, you can visit the excellent waterpark Hidropark Port d’Alcudia. It boasts thirty different slides and pools, including kamikaze slides, the Black Hole, a wave pool, a lazy river, swimming pools and water playgrounds. There are gentle slides for very young children. There are also inflatable castles, trampolines, giant floating balls and a golf course. It is set in lush landscaped gardens and is a great day out.

Can Picafort Beach is lovely, and you can also visit Playa de Muro, Playa de Son Baulo, Playa Son Serra de Marina and Playa Son Real. The beach promenade of Can Picafort stretches for more than 1km. You can hire bikes and enjoy the coastline and the reserve not far away. Near the harbour, you will find fitness equipment, a playground and, in summer, a trampoline. There is a karting track outside Can Picafort with special karts for children.

Close by is the wonderful Parc Natural de S’Albufera. It is the largest and most important wetland area in the Balearic Islands. The park lies within the Muro and Sa Pobla municipalities and protects some 1708 hectares of marshes and dunes. You can obtain a visitor's permit from the visitor's centre, which is free. It is wonderful for bike rides, hiking and birdwatching expeditions. Birdwatchers come from all over Europe to see rare migrants such as Montagu’s harriers and Eleanora’s falcons. Species breeding there include stonechats, moustached warblers and the long-eared owl. Ospreys leave their breeding sites on the cliffs to come to the reserve to fish. There is an audio-visual display room where you can listen to the birdsong.

If you are visiting Palma, either on the way to the airport or otherwise, there is a delightful aquarium with all sorts of fish and underwater life to enjoy. Palma Aquarium enjoys over five hundred species of fish and one of the largest aquariums in Europe. There are hands-on exhibits and habitats from the Mediterranean to tropical seas, jungles and more. There are interactive experiences such as diving with sharks and snorkelling with stingrays. There is also a 3D theatre where kids can see giant humpback whales gelding through the sea.
