Villa Alcuzcuz is a beautifully renovated stunning property nestled in the exclusive residential gated community of “La Reserva de Alcuzcuz” in the municipality of Benahavis.

This is a very charming and romantic Mediterranean property. It is surrounded by an astonishing wild nature, within a six hectare landscape, a south oriented dominant position in front of the Gibraltar rock and the Moroccan coast. The property epitomises the Andalusian spirit, with a very beautiful villa surrounded by olive, fruit trees and Spanish fountains. Every built element looks in harmony with its natural environment.

The land where the house is located has been subject to a process of increasing environmental protection. In 1992, it was included in the list of natural habitats to be preserved, and in 2006 the European Commission included it in the list of Sites of Community Importance (SCI) of the Mediterranean region. In 2015 the regional government of Andalusia declared as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC Sierra Bermeja y Real).

The single‐family home was designed by a local architect and built in 2002 under the direct supervision of the renowned international designer Jaime Parladé, whose personal style can be felt throughout the building (which is mirroring Parladé’s own aristocratic villa in the immediate neighbourhood).

Villa Alcuzcuz is a two‐story house which has a traditional Andalusian style of enchanting simplicity, with Arabic tile roofs, colourful wooden beam ceilings, porches and wooden windows and doors.

During the last two years since the house has been acquired by the new owner, the garden and surrounds have been completely renovated with a wonderful contemporary feel.

The Ground floor includes a central area with a double‐height lobby, guest toilet, a large living area including a sitting room with a chimney, and a large contemporary open kitchen with dining room.

On this same floor, there is a large double bedroom with a full en suite bathroom and dressing room; there is also an office which overlooks the newly designed “Romantic Garden” with Andalusian basins/fountains and fruit trees.

There are also two private studios on this floor which are connected to the main house but also have separate entrances. Both studios have a double bed, en suite bathroom, living area and kitchen, these studios are perfect for family members who prefer a little more privacy.

The first floor includes a large library and two large bedrooms with private en suite bathrooms.

Close to the house, leading from the ground floor and which once was the main swimming pool is now and open water reserve/pool with lily flowers which is used for the automatic irrigation system.

Villa Alcuzcuz is in the perfect area to also enjoy many other wonderful resorts.

Located on the southern face of La Serrania de Ronda mountain range, Benahavis is set slightly inland between Estepona and Marbella.
Distinctive to the other resorts nearby simply because of its tranquil, picturesque setting and real Andalusian feel.

Few places on the Costa del Sol enjoy such uninterrupted views of mountains, woodlands and rivers.
The village itself is a succession of well-kept narrow streets hedged with whitewashed Andalusian houses.

The picturesque park of Parque Torre Leoneras is located at the south end of the village and contains the ruins of a medieval Tower and a large lake.

The Montemayor castle was built in the tenth century and is mostly ruins but still has several sections of walls and the Queen's tower intact, from here you can appreciate stunning views of the Costa del Sol.

The Guadalmina River provides great canoeing opportunities, and as you make your way down the river, you will come across waterfalls and plunge pools. Here there is also a lovely river walk which takes you across a spectacular bridge and a traditional Moorish irrigation channel.

The Sunday market is held in the grounds of a shrine and is one of the most popular markets on the Costa del Sol.

When you’re done with your historical explorations, there are a wealth of adventures to get started with! Consider a visit through the winding cobbled streets of Marbella’s Old Town, where visitors can immerse themselves in local fare, flower stalls, gorgeous textiles and homemade wares. For more upscale shopping, a visit to nearby Puerto Banus is a must; guests can find a slew of designer stores here.

Of course, no day would be complete without a good meal, and Marbella is packed full of Michelin starred restaurants, providing the perfect excuse to indulge those taste buds.
Outside of the shopping and the food, Marbella also has world-renowned beaches where one can soak up the sun and grab a cocktail from a beachfront bar! There are plenty more adventures to be had here from water sports & parks to historical tours, hiking and biking.

These terms and conditions may be amended from time to time.

Security deposit The rental property including the furniture and other contents are to be treated with care. The tenant is held responsible for all damaged goods, damage to the property or anything else related to the property, whether caused by themselves or their accompanying guests. A security deposit of €1,500 will be charged to guest’s credit card upon arrival and refunded two weeks after departure, subject to full satisfactory inspection.

End of stay cleaning included? Yes, included in the rental price. Tenant agrees to maintain the premises in the same condition as when received and will not allow any waste, misuse or neglect. That the premises shall be kept in as clean, healthy and safe as conditions of the Premises permit and shall cause no unsafe or unsanitary conditions. That no junk or garbage will be allowed to accumulate on or near the premises.

Insurance Guests are required to be in possession of a valid insurance policy, which covers them for cancellations, personal belongings, public liability and any accidental damage caused during their stay.

Other 2 There shall not be any "house parties" on the Premises, there shall never be more than 20 persons on the Premises at any time without written landlord approval, nor shall TENANT's guests ever be left alone on the Premises.
Other 3 Tenant acknowledges that the Premises is part of a quiet, peaceful gated community and will be highly considerate of the neighbours. The Premises shall not be used in such a manner as to generate noise (including loud music) which will disturb neighbours, nor will neighbours be harassed or bothered in any manner.

How long have you owned the property?
I bought the property two years ago. The property has been fully renovated with a contemporary spirit. An extensive landscaping project has been also successfully undertaken.

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
This is a very charming and romantic Mediterranean property. Do you have a favourite room in the property?
The living room and the (connected) dining room are impressive. The living room has a high wooden ceiling and is flooded with natural light thanks to its all-around huge windows. You can almost just be sited on the sofa and contemplate the strait of Gibraltar. The dining room has also a spectacular view on a preserved green mountain that looks like a natural painting.

Really do?

Close to Ronda village (45 mn driving distance), we can find the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park, which includes the wonderful villages of El Burgo, Monda, Tolox, Parauta and Yunquera. This mountain houses deep ravines and spectacular cliffs, with more than 100 metres of drop. Many activities are available. In the Park, live protected species, such as the golden eagle, the wild cat or the otter can be seen. The hiking route begins in a lane of the entrance bridge to El Burgo, surrounded by olive groves. You will find the dam of El Dique, an area where, in summer, it is very common to take a swim. The beautiful Cave of the Excéntricas is located in the village of Igualeja. It’s not very big, but its karstic formations make it one of the most beautiful. Its underground landscapes provide all types of cavities and chasms, where you’ll see stalactites, stalagmites, fistulas and eccentric, that give name to the cave.

Zahara de la Sierra village (1 hour 20 mn driving distance): its reservoir, which is relatively new, has made the town even more popular with visitors, who now have the option of water sports, swimming and sports. Just below the town is an area to park the car and walk by the reservoir. You can hire Kayaks to go out on the lake. Go on a 2-hour adventure hike through La Garganta Verde, a stunning gorge inside Grazalema Natural Park. The trail crosses a deep river, so swimming know-how, waterproof shoes, and swimsuits are recommended. Then visit the picturesque white village of Zahara de la Sierra, and admire panoramic views from its hilltop castle, overlooking Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park.

The Guadalhorce river has sliced through limestone to create a spectacular gorge 50km northwest of Malaga, the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, otherwise known as the Garganta del Chorro (1 hour 25 mn driving distance).  It is famous for its walkway, the Caminito del Rey, a stomach-churning route through the gorge. It was re-constructed and re-opened in March 2015 and is one of Malaga favourite attractions. Dont miss it, given its vertical walls, the area is a popular spot with climbers. The Embalse de Guadalhorce is a good place for swimming and a picnic.

If you´re here in spring or summer, don´t miss the unforgettable sight of thousands of flamingos on the lake in the Fuente de Piedra Natural Reserve, north of El Torcal and El Chorro. The lake has been dubbed the pink lagoon, because of the burst of colour created by the flocks of flamingos. Also north of Malaga is Antequera, which offers an incredible array of sights, including a medieval fortress, elegant mansions and several fascinating museums. Around this town is an area dotted with historic villages such as Villanueva del Rosario, Villanueva del Trabuco, Mollina, Alameda and Villanueva de Tapia.

Visit Tanger, Morroco by taking the 45-60 minute ferry. Enjoy a guided walking tour around a small souk and the Medina (old walled city). Head to the bazar for souvenir shopping. Optional Camel ride.

Andalucia has festivals throughout the year, in its myriad towns and villages, from the smallest-scale pilgrimage, to the massive city fairs. The two most important are Semana Santa (Holy Week) and the Ferias - most notably Seville, Cordoba, Jerez, Granada and Malaga.

The famous grounds of Sotogrande have been dubbed the 'Wimbeldon of Polo Pitches', they are renowned as the best in the world. They are close to the main A-7 highway, so greatly accessible. Field polo is very much still classified as a sport for the wealthy, with players from the international jet set visiting from all over Europe to play throughout the year.

Based in Estepona (20mn drive), the horse riding school Escuela de Arte Ecuestre Costa Del Sol is one of the best equestrian centres in Spain. Extensive facilities. Approved training and examination centre.

Really eat?
Puerto Banús is known as Costa del Sol's playground for the rich and wealthy that come here for the beaches, the beach clubs and the buzzing nightlife. The shops and restaurants reflect this expensive lifestyle, with plenty of designer names on offer around the marina. If you enjoy people-watching and are there during the summer months you'll never be short of popstars or reality TV stars to spot. If sports cars and big boats are more your thing there are plenty of Ferraris and luxury yachts to admire.

Hidden amongst the dry greenness of ‘La Serrania de Ronda” lies Alcuzcuz boutique Hotel, one of the most emblematic and exclusive properties of the “Costa del Sol” (this property is actually our direct neigbour). Built in 1850, this ‘Malaga Style’ farmhouse was decorated in a red ochre tone with an extensive garden stretching around the property; seamlessly blending with the architecture of the house. At the Alcuzcuz restaurant, the food has always been very refined. The dishes served are mainly Andalucian/Mediterranean with Moroccan influence. It is based on the family recipes made with seasonal produce from the gardens, local fish and meat. A fantastic hidden address!

Savor restaurant is a restaurant of traditional Mediterranean cuisine that is intermingled with world cuisines. You can have the best tapas in the region! It is located in san Pedro de Alcantar village (5 mn drive). In addition, it is necessary to emphasize the exquisite decoration of the interior room, not to mention its very affordable prices.

Restaurant El Ancla is placed on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in San Pedro de Alcantara. You wil be able to taste the flavors of the sea throughout the year. Located in a unique setting , its terrace and interior rooms allow you to enjoy the Andalusian cuisine throughout the year.

There are plenty of touristic sites to visit.

The village of Ronda is the jewel of Andalusia and can be reached in almost 45 minutes. The largest of Spain’s pueblos blancos abounds in history, excellent restaurants, and magnificent views, with the dramatic El Tajo gorge. This gorge separates the city’s circa-15th-century new town from its old town, dating to Moorish rule. Puente Nuevo, a stone bridge spanning the gorge, has a lookout offering views. New town’s Plaza de Toros, a legendary 18th-century bullring, is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.

Frigiliana village is widely considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain (1 hour 30 mn driving). Nestled in the foothills of the Sierras de Tejeda, just above Nerja, its distinctively Mudéjar historic center is all cobblestone steps, steep sinuous lanes, and carefully preserved whitewashed houses draped with geraniums and bougainvillea. The romantic streets often lead to enchanting plazas and hidden rooftop tapas bars, and are complemented by the occasional viewpoint across the scenic surrounding countryside and the glittery Mediterranean coast.

Nerja: one of the best day trips from Málaga (1 hour 30 drive). Nerja is a pretty seaside town with fairytale caves, glittering sandy coves, and some of the best sea views in the whole of Europe. Balcón de Europa, a staggeringly positioned palm-shaded belvedere, makes the most of this postcard-perfect setting, offering sprawling vistas over the rocky coastline and the cerulean Mediterranean Sea beyond. A few km away, the striking caves of Nerja play host to the world’s largest stalagmite and the oldest work of art ever discovered – a collection of 6 Neanderthal paintings dating back at least 42,000 years ago. Otherwise, Nerja is the quintessential Andalusian network of narrow cobbled lanes, packed with friendly tapas bars and geranium-covered whitewashed houses.

Mijas village is also probably one of the most beautiful white village Costa del Sol has to offer (just 35 mn drive). Tucked in high, on the side of a mountain, the village offers stunning views over the Costa del Sol, from Benalmadena in the East all the way to Gibraltar in the West. On a clear day you can even spot the shapes of the mountains from Morocco. Walking on the streets of the village you will notice an amalgam of different architectural styles, especially in the lower part. Being built on the mountainside, the village is split into the upper part and the lower part, divided by the Plaza Virgen de la Peña, the main square in town.
