Villa Cova is cool and trendy and situated in an exclusive area of the Costa Brava, just 400 metres from the stunning beach of Tamariu. It is gorgeous, contemporary and sprawling, all on one level though one of the bedrooms is in an additional building below the pool area. With 4 bedrooms in total, this wonderful villa sleeps 8 guests. The views from the magnificent gardens and terraces are delightful.
The beach of Tamariu, so close to the villa, is embraced by pine-clad headlands so is sheltered. Previously a small fishing village, Tamariu has retained its charm and identity and is idyllic, tranquil and pretty. Just behind the beach, the pedestrian promenade is lined with tamarisk trees and is scattered with cafes, restaurants and beach gear shops. Just 5km up the road is another of the Costa Brava’s treasures, the lovely town of Begur.
Villa Cova’s design makes the most of its hillside position. The views towards the sea are stunning, and the infinity pool is situated in the perfect place. The villa flows so well. Although open plan, furnishings have been placed in perfect spots to break up the areas and to ensure that the whole villa is illuminated with brilliant sunshine.
The large, impressive garden enjoys sunshine all day long. There is a large decked terrace for sunbathing, a large porch for alfresco dining and a fantastic outdoor kitchen. There is a separate covered chill-out lounge area beside the pool for heavenly lazy summer days. The garden is fragrant and luscious, such a lovely setting. The magnificent fruit trees also guard the privacy of the guests.
The interior boasts a stylish, expansive living space with comfortable dining and lounging and a contemporary kitchen with a central island and wine fridge. The massive sliding doors not only frame the spectacular views but merge the exterior and the interior, giving you such a feeling of space and calm. To the rear of the villa, there is a laundry room and a corridor leading to three large bedrooms.
These are again minimalist in design. There is one double room with an ensuite bathroom with bath and shower and beautiful sea views. The two twin bedrooms share an immaculate shower room and also enjoy the sea views. The bathrooms are contemporary, sleek and stylish. The villa has an additional building below the pool where you will find a studio room, perfect for a quiet time, as well as a further double room with a shower room.
What you should know…
- One of the bedrooms is situated in the studio underneath the pool so away from the main house. This would not be suitable for young children
- Art lovers will enjoy the Salvador Dali triangle as well as Museum of Modern Art at Ceret and any exhibitions held at the botanical gardens at Cap Roig
- You really should try and visit Begur. It is colourful, exuberant and has some amazing restaurants

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa CovaTamariu is a great choice for a family holiday. It is upmarket, idyllic, peaceful, pretty and not far from more active towns if you want a buzzy night out. The Festival of Tamariu takes place on 15 August with watermelon launching, Habaneras singing, a foam party and a clown who performs for the children. The beach is lovely with watersports on offer. Tucked between Tamariu and Llafranc, Cala Pedrosa makes an ideal retreat if you are looking for a secluded beach. It is edged by cliffs and conifers and is popular with divers and snorkelers.
A walk in the stunning botanic gardens at Cap Roig, near Calella de Palafrugell is a dreamy experience. There is a great variety of plants, trees and flowers from all over the world. The views out to sea and of the rocky islets are absolutely beautiful. There are a picnic area and plenty of places to sit in the shade and enjoy the views. In the summer, the gardens host the famous Festival del Jardin Cap Roig with music and dance performances by international artists such as Norah Jones, Anastacia and Andrea Bocelli and art exhibitions of celebrated artists.
Calella de Palafrugell has a stunning beach where you will often see colourful fishing boats. You can take the fabulous Camino de Ronda hiking route to visit Llafranc close by. The Garoinada is a festival in honour of sea urchins, a local delicacy of the whole region. There is a music festival in June with several performances over three days.
The Costa Brava Jazz Festival comes to Palafrugell in October. Port Bo is the harbour neighbourhood of Calella de Palafrugell. Its beautiful white houses and winding streets make it a beautiful labyrinth to meander in. It has been declared a site of Cultural Heritageof National Importance. The town of Palafrugell is fairytale-like, historic and gorgeous with a vibrant Sunday morning market. You really must visit.
Llafranc is one of those places that attracts artists, film stars, the beautiful and the rich. The Telegraph listed it as one of Europe’s top hidden seaside resorts. It boasts enticing turquoise waters, authentic fishing boats and glamorous yachts. The perfume of the pine trees lingers in the air. It is such a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal.

Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Cova is excellent for a family holiday. Children will love the space generally, the garden, the pool, the table tennis table and the fact that the villa is so close to the beach. The beach is family-friendly with many watersports on offer. They could learn to dive or just enjoy snorkelling around the wonderful coves in the area. Sea kayaking is great fun too.
Girona is a beautiful city, only 58km away. Children will enjoy the city walls, the Cinema Museum, La Devesa Park, Parc de les Ribes del Ter and Parc de Domeny. Domeny Park has two ziplines, a climbing wall, a play area and table tennis tables.
If you decide to visit Figueres where Salvador Dali was born, there is plenty to see and do. The Teatro Museo Dali is the main Dali museum in Spain. Not only are there paintings and drawings, but there are also are three-dimensional installations and sculptures. Children will enjoy the Toy Museum of Catalonia at Figueres. You will find ancient spinning tops, dolls and figurines, the remains of a board game Ur which dates back to 3000BC before chess and there is a miniature railway on the top floor which took eight years to build.
If children enjoy nature and hiking and want to visit some hidden coves, the Camino de Ronda trail is easily recognised by the international sign of a white stripe above a red stripe. There are stunning views, and you will definitely get to some secret beaches you wouldn’t know about otherwise.
Some of the towns have little tourist trains which children love. In the Medieval town of Pals you can go on a rice tour right through the fields. It stops at the mill where you can observe the machinery room and demonstration by the guide. The rice fields are all part of the Natural Park of Montgri where you can also take children cycling, bird watching or horse riding.
