With a large garden, outdoor pool and mountain views, the impressively spacious Villa Granada is suitable for up to 10 guests. Situated roughly halfway between Barcelona and Girona, it has great cities and beautiful Costa Brava beaches within reach and is just 9km from the beautiful Montseny natural park.

Located 1km from the centre of Sant Esteve de Palautordera, the villa has this small town’s amenities within a short walk or drive. It is also just 500m from the edge of the forest which forms part of a stunning natural setting. The outdoor pool, measuring 10m x 4m, makes the most of the views, and is accompanied by sun loungers, seating and dining areas and a large lawned area – ideal for children to play on.

The house is roomy and bright, with a spacious living area directly accessible from the terrace. There is ample seating and a TV, and an adjoining dining area makes a great place for a special dinner together. You can wander in and out to the garden as much as you please – there is an additional space outside which would be ideal for after-dinner drinks.

A social space in itself, the large kitchen offers all you need, including a dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine. An island with breakfast bar seating is perfect for a quick coffee, while the nearby courtyard garden provides another satisfying space.

Five gorgeous bedrooms – three doubles and two twins – are sure to provide a comfortable night’s sleep, and enjoy some wonderful views too. A pair of well-appointed bathrooms can also be found at Villa Granada. With rooms suitable for adults and children alike, the house is a good choice for a larger family or mixed group.

Sant Esteve de Palautordera lies around 25km from the coastal resort of Arenys de Mar, with its attractive harbour and waterfront restaurants well worth a visit. The larger town of Mataró lies 20 minutes down the coast in the direction of Barcelona, itself just under an hour’s drive from Sant Esteve de Palautordera.

The area of Catalonia extending north of Barcelona has no shortage of beach resorts and attractive coastal hideaways to uncover. Large towns such as Badalona and Mataró later give way to smaller but much-loved locations like Llafranc and Begur, giving this stretch of the Costa Brava a satisfying level of variety.

What lies inland is also positively rewarding. With a landscape dominated by mountainous regions like Montseny and the Cadiretes, it would be a shame not to take some time away from the beach to enjoy some incredible scenery either on foot or by bike. The latter area extends as far as the coast north of Tossa de Mar, offering the perfect opportunity to combine the two.

One of Catalonia’s most impressive historic cities lies around 35 minutes’ drive north of here – Girona. Whether it’s to view the Arab Baths, the record-breaking wide nave of the Catedral de Santa María or the coloured houses lining the River Onyar, you are assured of an inspiring visit. Girona is also home to Catalonia’s largest urban park, Devesa, a wonderful green oasis in the heart of the city.

For something a little more rugged, the mountains of Montseny are a vast playground for hikers and climbers. Richly diverse in terms of both landscape and climate, this vast natural area is one of the region’s must-sees. To the south, the smaller Parc del Montnegre i el Corredor offers a relaxing outdoor environment that’s well suited to walking.

Along the coast to the east of this area, a number of attractive towns make for appealing excursions, such as Arenys de Mar with its eye-catching historic buildings and pretty harbour. North-west of Barcelona, the city of Terrassa provides an alternative angle on Catalonia. This important industrial city boasts some impressive architecture in the form of the Modernist Masia Freixa and Mercat de la Independència central market. Its National Museum of Science and Technology offers an intriguing overview of more recent developments.

The kids are going to love the opportunity to play in Villa Granada’s huge gardens, and there’s even more fun to be had in the large outdoor pool. The house itself is equipped with Wi-Fi and TV and offers some great bedrooms that are ideal for sharing. The family dog is also welcome, which isn’t always the case – but it’s another bonus at Villa Granada.

The area is full of stunning scenery, with mountains, parks and beautiful beaches in abundance. The coast is within easy driving distance, so the golden sands of the Costa Brava are not too far away. You can head for Arenys de Mar and enjoy the waterfront, or to historic Mataró – a popular choice for those who want to escape the crowds of Barcelona and enjoy a day at the beach.

For a child-friendly, surefire hit, look out for the Illa Fantasia water-park with its rapids, wave pool and pirate-themed maze. Mataró’s Parc Central provides a pretty spot to relax in the centre of town, while the Bosc Vertical adventure park offers an aerial obstacle course and zip-wire adventures in the forest of beautiful Parc del Montnegre i el Corredor.

These terms and conditions may be amended from time to time.

Security deposit €200 payable upon arrival in cash. Refunded two weeks after departure, subject to full inspection.

End of stay cleaning included? Yes. However, guests are required to leave the accommodation clean, tidy and in the same condition as on their arrival. Any extra cleaning, laundry, maintenance and/or rubbish disposal required will be charged against the security deposit.
Linen & towels included? Bed linen and bath towels are included in the rental price. Please bring your own pool towels.
Energy costs included? Yes, included in the rental price
Internet access? Wi-Fi internet access is included in the rental price
Minimum stay 7 nights during July and August, 3 ngihts the remainder of the year
Changeover day Saturday during July and August, any day the remainder of the year
Pets welcome? 1 pet is allowed per booking upon request only and with prior agreement with the owner
Smoking Allowed? Smoking and vaping are not permitted
Tax Tourist tax is included in the rental price
Insurance Guests are required to be in possession of a valid insurance policy, which covers them for cancellations, personal belongings, public liability and any accidental damage caused during their stay.
Pool opening dates? The pool is open from 13th April to 30th October (cooler months may not be suitable for swimming)
