Each morning, bright sunshine and the gentle breeze will draw you outside to the villa’s lovely garden, where you can enjoy a simple cup of coffee or a leisurely breakfast on the wooden terrace overlooking the green hills. The wooden terrace features casual outdoor seating, while a stone patio provides the ideal space for the villa’s spacious outdoor dining area and a well-appointed summer kitchen. Here, Villa Zaklad’s guests can enjoy a delicious dinner together or share a bottle of excellent Brda wine at sunset.
The garden features a swing for children to enjoy, as well as bicycles and e-bikes which are available for guests to rent, should you wish to spend the day exploring the wonders of the surrounding countryside. The wooden terrace is also home to a large outdoor jacuzzi, where you will feel the day’s adventures melt away as you relax beneath the stars at night.
Inside Villa Zaklad, guests will be charmed by the bright and airy open-plan living space. An elegant, understated dining room overlooks the garden, offering the perfect place to while away the evening unwinding with your loved ones. The dining room flows seamlessly into the villa’s contemporary kitchen, complete with modern appliances and a large island. The villa’s cosy lounge corner features an inviting sofa and a flatscreen TV, ideal for a movie night in.
In the basement, guests will find a warm and welcoming wellness space with an infrared and Finnish-style sauna, as well as a comfortable lounge area. The basement also features a fun activities room for children, with a climbing wall and table football, while the billiards room is a great spot for the adults to unwind at the end of the day. The villa also offers a convenient underground garage.
Villa Zaklad’s first floor provides three charming double bedrooms, where a soothing ambience ensures that your nights are as restful as your days are relaxing. Each bedroom provides guests with beautiful views of the countryside, with one bedroom also featuring access to a romantic private balcony. A modern en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower accompanies each of the bedrooms. Twin beds for two children are available in a connecting room if required, with an additional guest room also provided on the ground floor.

About the surrounding area of Villa ZakladVipolže is a peaceful, scattered village with plenty of fairytale vistas, perfectly encapsulating all that the stunning landscapes of the Brda region have to offer. While the region’s endless vineyards, picturesque villages and unforgettable sunsets have brought about many comparisons with Italy’s Tuscany region, this little-known rural oasis in the heart of Slovenia is a bewitching location with charms all of its own.
The Brda region offers visitors the opportunity to fully indulge in some delectable gastronomic experiences. From visits to local farmsteads and olive groves to an in-depth tour of a traditional wine cellar, you will be sure to feel the power of this region’s ancient connection with its land. Bicycles and electric bikes are available to rent from Villa Zaklad, so that you can make your way from one culinary sensation to another with ease, working up an appetite along the way. The region is not only famous for its fantastic wine. For something a little different, you can also visit local beekeepers and honey producers, where you can taste some of the natural goodness that Brda’s bees have produced.
From your peaceful hillside home, the sandy beaches of the Adriatic Sea can be reached within approximately forty minutes by car. Cross the border and soak up the sun on the Italian coastline for a change of scenery. Make your way to Sistiana Bay, where you can spend the day swimming on the beach of Castelreggio, overlooked by the impressive Duino Cliffs. The beach is ideal for families, with activities such as boat tours available, as well as plenty of pizzerias and cafes, in case you decide to stay and watch the sun go down over the sparkling blue water.
Closer to home, the emerald-green river of Soča Valley is a majestic sight. Here, there are activities such as kayaking, rafting and canyoning to keep adventure seekers happy. There are also excellent golf courses in close proximity to the villa, each with unforgettable views. The medieval village of Šmartno is only seven minutes from Vipolže by car. This entire walled village, with its charming cobblestone pathways and beautiful architecture, has been declared a cultural heritage monument. Visit for an afternoon stroll and a leisurely lunch at one of the lovely local restaurants. With Brda’s annual wine festival and cherry festival taking place here, you will be sure to find yourself enchanted by the village’s sweet natural beauty. From here, it’s back to Villa Zaklad for a visit to the sauna and an evening to remember.

With numerous hiking and biking trails nearby, you can explore serene villages and local farms with the family on foot or by renting bikes. This rural region is a cyclist’s paradise, with almost 280km of cycling routes meandering through a diverse range of landscapes. The viewing tower in nearby Gonjače is not for the faint-hearted! From here, your family will be in a position to see all that the Brda region has to offer, from the snow-capped Julian Alps all the way out to the Adriatic Sea.
Slovenia’s emerald River Soča is an incredible place for the family to visit on a day trip, with more hiking trails and a feast of water-based adventures. Around the Soča Valley, there are dozens of agencies offering a range of activities with enthusiastic and experienced guides. This is a wonderful place to feel close to nature while having lots of fun in the fresh air.
For a unique day trip, drive for just under an hour to the Postojna Cave Park in the neighbouring Karst region of Slovenia. Boarding the cave’s underground train will mark the beginning of an exciting adventure that the whole family will remember, with hidden passages and plenty of twists and turns. Learn about prehistoric animals at the park’s Vivarium and marvel at the cave’s never-ending stalactites and stalagmites, before making your way up to the surface to enter the land of medieval knights at Predjama Castle. Make sure to wear comfortable and warm clothing on your adventures below the ground!
Older children will enjoy a day out in the lively Italian city of Trieste. Don’t forget to visit the nearby beaches of Sistiana Bay, where you can spend the day swimming and relaxing by the water before treating everyone to some delicious gelato.

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The location! Our villa is located in the village of Vipolže, in the wine-growing heart of Goriška Hills, and is an excellent starting point for exploring the area. The Villa has a million-dollar view of the wine-growing district and mandarin grove.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
The guest of honour at the grand opening of the villa in 2019 was the most popular Slovenian NBA basketball player at that time Goran Dragić - a Team captain when Slovenia became an European champion in 2017.

A typical Brda dish, frtalja (omelette), and is prepared as fried omelette made of whipped eggs, into which the locals mix a mixture of fresh, finely chopped herbs: heart cabbage (balm-mint), chives, young fennel greens, ‘madrjalca’ (feverfew) and salvio romano (costmary).
