Closer to home, the limestone system of the Škocjan Caves is another awe-inspiring attraction that includes one of the world’s largest known underground river canyons, making it a well-deserved UNESCO World Heritage site.

Just over half an hour’s drive away, the lively town of Koper has a distinctly Mediterranean feel and is much admired for its impressive architecture, breathtaking views and culinary delights.
