The Resort
Nestled in the Austrian Alps, St Anton is the resort of many skiers dreams (albeit very different from its French counterparts). Based around an old mountain village in Tyrol, it is positively bustling with life. The centre of everything St Anton is the buzzing high street known as the Dorfstrasse. This is where shops, restaurants and bars abound, and as is typical of Austria, the food is fantastic and everything is great value for money. Most of the village is still made up of timber and stone farmhouses dating back centuries. This might make things look old-school, but the ski facilities and the world-renowned nightlife have certainly kept up with the years.
The main thing to keep in mind when planning your snow-filled adventures in St Anton is that the skiing here is not for beginners. There are some good slopes for first-timers in the quieter Nasserein, but intermediates and experts will have the most fun. They can ski not only St Anton but the whole of the Arlberg region (including Lech and Zurs) with the same lift pass. These resorts are connected by a world-class cableway known as the Flexenbahn so there’s no need for a bus unless you prefer it.
St Anton also happens to be one of the snowiest areas in all of Europe, both in early December as well as at the end of the season which tends to last well into April. This means you have very good odds of finding fresh powder on the pistes most mornings. In addition to the impressive 304 kilometres of slopes, there are also 200 kilometres worth of off-piste skiing available in challenging and exciting terrain.
And for those who still haven’t had enough excitement at the end of the day, you’ll be happy to know that St Anton is the party capital of the ski world. This is where you’ll find some of the biggest and craziest après-ski experiences, mainly thanks to the iconic Mooserwirt and Krazy Kanguruh bars that have been around since the 1960s. The town is also filled with live music and DJs all night long, to keep you on your dancing feet until its time to hit the slopes again.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesApartment Schnee isn't just a luxurious Alpine retreat; it's also a haven for families with children, offering a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and child-friendly amenities that make it an ideal destination for your next family holiday.
Situated on the ground floor of Chalet Fabiola, Apartment Schnee boasts a spacious layout that's perfect for accommodating families of all sizes. With three double bedrooms and three bathrooms, there's plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax after a day of adventure in the mountains. Plus, with king-size beds in each bedroom, both parents and children can enjoy a restful night's sleep, ensuring everyone wakes up refreshed and ready for another day of fun.
The apartment's open-plan kitchen and dining area provide the perfect setting for family meals, with modern appliances and a cosy wooden table to gather together and share stories from the day's escapades on the slopes. And when it's time to unwind, the inviting seating area offers plenty of space for the whole family to snuggle up together and enjoy a movie night in front of the flat-screen TV.
But it's not just the apartment’s interior that makes it ideal for children; the surrounding area offers a wealth of family-friendly activities to enjoy. From skiing and snowboarding lessons for beginners to thrilling off-piste adventures for the more experienced, there's something for everyone to enjoy on the slopes. When it's time to take a break from skiing, families can explore the nearby village, with its charming shops, cafes, and restaurants offering plenty of opportunities for tasty treats and souvenirs to take home.
Back at the chalet, children can burn off some energy in the communal ski cellar or wellness space, where they can run and play while parents relax in the sauna or enjoy a massage. With the option to enlist the services of a private chef or concierge, parents can rest easy knowing that every detail of their family vacation is taken care of, allowing them to focus on creating lasting memories with their loved ones.
In summary, with its spacious accommodations, family-friendly amenities, and convenient location near the slopes and village, Apartment Schnee offers everything you need for an unforgettable family getaway in the heart of the Alps.
