- When did you become the owner?
The property has been owned by my family since 1984 and today, following the death of my parents, I have remained the owner because I am in love with the quality of life that just waking up in the morning in the finely restored and preserved typical Villa can give.
- What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
We fell in love with the Villa and the hills in which it is located, immediately enjoying a relaxing and peaceful stay, also thanks to the comfortable and beautiful swimming pool from which you can enjoy a wide panoramic view of the surrounding area.
- Are there any interesting stories in its history?
Around the Villa, dating back to 1670, there are the castles of Montegufoni, Poppiano and Verrazzano, all of which can be visited and all with very important histories. Books are full of the history of the nearby cities of Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Arezzo.
- Have you ever had any famous guests staying?
Among the many who have enjoyed the hospitality of the Villa, in the last 21 years of renting and experience (I started renting the Villa to clients as far back as 2001) there have been prominent personalities from the world of finance, cinema, and important professionals, but for due to privacy I cannot name them.
- For anyone coming to stay, is there anything you suggest that they really...
- Must do?
Visit Florence, Lucca, Siena, Pisa, San Giminiano, Greve in Chianti and all of Chianti. It is also easy to travel to the coast (1 hour / 1.5 hours by car, all on a very easy motorway) and enjoy the sea of Versilia (Forte dei Marmi), the Ligurian Sea (the Cinqueterre) and an endless series of beautiful places that the area has to offer.
- Must-eat?
Tuscan cuisine offers many tasty meat and fish dishes. In Florence, in particular, bistecca alla fiorentina, ribollita, pappa al pomodoro and lampredotto are famous. Whilst in the entire region it is possible to enjoy cured meats, cheeses, meats, fish and fine wines. In particular, moving to the coast, Baccalà alla Livornese and Cacciucco (perhaps, the most traditional Tuscan seafood dish) are famous. On request, I can personally organise and prepare excellent dinners with typical Tuscan cuisine directly in the Villa, using only the highest quality, organic food and products, with Chianti wine tasting included in the dinner.
- Must see?
The whole of Tuscany is beautiful and includes historic medieval towns and villages. In Florence, Palazzo Vecchio, the Ponte Vecchio, the Boboli Gardens, etc. are famous. For art lovers, there are also important museums to visit such as the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia Gallery, Palazzo Pitti, the Medici Chapels in San Lorenzo, the Bargello Museum, Palazzo Davanzati, Casa Martelli etc. Nature lovers should visit the beautiful Sienese hills, the Migliarino Park, the Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, the Park of the Apuan Alps, the Park of the Casentino Forests and Mount Falterona, with the source of the Arno River.
- What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
According to preference, it is possible to organise daily trips and visits to historical cities, museums or natural parks, or to enjoy the peace and serenity that the hospitality of the Villa itself offers or, to alternate the two.

Beautiful villa
Beautiful villa and setting. The host is so welcoming too. If I can get the kids out the pool, then we'll start exploring the area soon.

Wonderful
We came to your lovely villa to celebrate our friendship. Our stay was the first stop on our Tuscan Adventure. Some highlights:
- Your grounds and pool area are stunning with the gorgeous views of the landscapes.
- We went to Luciano winery on #retrosidecars for a tasting and lunch.
- We visited a family owned and operated winery just a few miles away. It was lovely.
Thank you for sharing your home and the Tuscan experience with us. -
A week we will never forget
We loved our stay at your beautiful villa. We only wish the weather had been warmer. The views, amenities and accommodations were outstanding. Your personal recommendations were also outstanding. Villa Raffaela is the best for amazing views and bird watching; so many species visit the villa. This is a week we will never forget. We will be back if you will have us. Grazie mille.

We loved it all.
Our experience at the villa was amazing! We couldn't have picked a better location and home to spend our time in Tuscany. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. We loved it all.

Absolute best experience I've ever had!
It was the absolute best experience I've ever had. The Villa was like a dream come true inside out. The views were fantastic and the owner was awesome. I truly felt like I was in Italy in a special place.
-
The views were exceptionally beautiful!
We absolutely loved our stay. The views were exceptionally beautiful, with vineyards and olive groves as far as the eye could see, and church bells adding to the ambience.
-
Smooth sailing
Couldn't have been any better. Loved every minute. Everything was smooth sailing. A perfect stay.

What an amazing stay
It was an amazing stay at Villa Raffaela! For a once in a lifetime trip, I'm trying to figure out how to go again! The view was amazing but so was the villa. It truly exceeded our expectations.

Pictures do not do the scenery justice!
My family and I had an amazing stay at Villa Raffaela. The villa was perfect for 6 adults, each of us had our own room and bathroom (and my parents specifically appreciated having a bedroom on the first floor). Renata and Alessandro were excellent hosts. We also enjoyed the peace and privacy that the property offered. Our favourite part of the house was definitely the outdoor patio and pool - as we were able to enjoy all of our meals overlooking the beautiful scenery under some shade, and then relax by the pool under the sun. The pictures really don't do the scenery justice. There was nothing we didn't enjoy about the property. The beds and pillows were a bit firm but nothing that would deter us from renting again. We enjoyed morning walks exploring the surrounding area overlooking the grape and olive vines (it is very hilly, but we liked the exercise). I would definitely stay there again.

Magical, like being in a movie!
It was magical. When you arrive and open the gate, you are surrounded by roses, hydrangeas, geraniums (with colours I'd never seen) and olive trees. The Villa is furnished with gorgeous antiques, and remained cool even when the temperature hit the high 90's. Sitting out at the pool, and looking at the landscape was like being in a movie. The whole set up, from the terrace for outside eating, to the pool that overlooks the incredible landscape, to a kitchen that was a joy to cook in, to the inside that was a great place to relax in the evening. And, there is Alessandro. He's a charming host, and a wonderful cook. Our meal with him was a true highlight of the week. And, the WiFi was terrific, which was important to us.

It was simply excellent!
In one word EXCELLENT. We had a great time hanging out by the pool or walking down the little lanes by the vineyards and olive trees taking in all the beauty. Alessandro the owner cooked us dinner one night and not only was it delicious we had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute of that evening. We most enjoyed the scenic views. I'm a early riser and every morning there would be hot air balloons floating in the valley. It was spectacular. The house inside and out was meticulous. The small towns are beautiful, the people are friendly. The larger towns are so full of history and beautiful old buildings, again friendly people everywhere that are willing to help even though we spoke very little Italian.

So serene and relaxing
It was absolutely amazing! My family and I will have memories that will last forever!! The villa was meticulously clean. The views were so amazing that it looked fake. I have no complaints! It was serene! So relaxing! Don't just book one meal with the owners - do it at least two nights! Everything was wonderful.
-
Fabulous!
Our stay at Villa Raffaela was fabulous. The villa itself was lovely and the outside spaces and owners were accommodating and helpful. We loved the views and the outdoor eating space, as well as the areas around the pool. The owners made the process simple and we had no issues whatsoever.

Great views
Excellent - we had a great time. Felt like home, only with much better views. Easy proximity to towns, wineries, etc.

The beauty of the landscape was breathtaking
It was fantastic and everything I hoped it would be. The villa is beautiful and looks exactly as the pictures show it. The setting is spectacular and looking out on the Tuscan countryside. It was amazing. The home is elegant but comfortable and we were a family of 5 plus a toddler. Renata and Allessandro are gracious hosts and made us feel welcome. The setting of the property and the comfortableness it gave us while still being elegant was wonderful. All of the amenities and the villa, both inside and out were great. Renata and Allessandro made us feel at home and were so gracious with our family and granddaughter. We met their son and dog Otto, whom our granddaughter fell in love with. I wanted to live like an Italian family and we did, thanks very much in part to our hosts and their home. Not sure there was anything I did not like about the property. Walking into Montagnana is a bit of a challenge and one we did not undertake due to having a toddler with us. The simple beauty of the landscape was breathtaking. We found getting to surrounding towns to be easy, even with the winding roads of the Tuscan countryside. I felt like I stepped into the movie "Under The Tuscan Sun". I would definitely stay there again.

An exceptional experience
We loved Villa Raffaela. It was an exceptional experience. Our hosts were welcoming and gracious and made us feel at home immediately. The atmosphere at the villa is relaxing but the home is very well appointed. As 3 couples, there was plenty of room to spend time together, as well as space to enjoy being alone. There was nothing we disliked about the property. The overall feel is very rustic.

You will not be disappointed!
We had a fabulous time! Everything we were told about this property was true and then some! Absolutely a delight! We felt like this was a home away from home! Nothing was lacking and everything was exceptionally maintained and presented exactly as it was. Fabulous location, quiet, safe, well appointed! We toured throughout Tuscany and returned each evening to enjoy the pool, the veranda and the beautiful views! The only thing we didn't enjoy was the fact that we had to leave and return home! We received a warm and friendly reception everywhere we went! Trust that you won't be disappointed and have no fear in renting this beautiful villa! Hosts were delightful and couldn't be more accommodating or considerate.
