From the window of your living area, you will be treated to stunning views of the most well-known cathedral in the world. It is well worth the short stroll to visit. Taking over 180 years, between 1163 and 1345, to be completed, it is considered a jewel of medieval Gothic architecture. Having faced many challenges in its long history, including features being destroyed by the Huguenots, the French Revolution and World War II, it was sadly the victim of another fire in 2019. None of this will destroy its appeal to lovers of medieval architecture, and Our Lady of Paris still stands proud. Her most distinctive features include flying buttresses, gargoyles and chimaera statues. Imagine standing on the balcony of your apartment, a glass of wine in hand, admiring her beauty as she is lit at night.
 
Also within walking distance is Sainte-Chapelle. Another stunning example of medieval architecture, this chapel was originally part of Palais de la Cité, the first royal palace in Paris. Built-in seven years, an impressive feat, it was intended to house precious Christian relics, including Christ’s crown of thorns, acquired by Saint Louis. Wandering inside, you will be amazed at its intricate stained-glass panels arranged over fifteen windows, high arched ceilings and patterned walls.  
 
No visit to the Île de la Cité would be complete without stopping at La Conciergerie. This is the oldest part of the Palais de la Cité and, during the Revolution, was turned into a prison that housed Marie Antoinette. Although her cell is no longer intact, a visit to the museum will show a recreation of the room as well as documents, keys and other relics from the 18th century.
 
Founded in the early 1800’s Île de Cité Flower Market is a must-see. Its colourful displays and dazzling plants and flowers have attracted visitors ever since its opening. Each vendor sells from an orangery-style structure, making for a fantastic photo opportunity and offering undercover shopping on rainy days.  
 
Eating and drinking in the Latin Quarter is a delightful way to treat yourself to sumptuous food and get a glimpse of authentic Parisian life. You will be spoiled for choice, from Michelin-starred restaurants to bistros and chic brasseries. If you prefer to cook up your own storm, you can’t go wrong with visiting Rue Muffetard. This bustling, lively street is the core of the Latin quarter. A narrow cobblestone street filled with market stalls, cheap eateries, and lively bars. A very popular location in Paris nightlife.
