Le Jardin Vert is set in a private residential area with lovely houses and lush gardens, only a five-minute drive from a historic and pretty golf club in the foothills of the Pyrénées. The open-plan living and dining room is full of light and space with a sleek kitchen adding to the modern vibe. Beautiful blue feature walls remind you of your proximity to the sea yet the views outside are of the verdant gardens that surround this delightful villa.

A shaded terrace allows guests to dine al-fresco for leisurely lunches before dipping into the heated swimming pool surrounding by elegant decking. Afterwards why not take a book and find a spot in the vast gardens at the back of the villa for a lazy afternoon in the sun.

It’s only a ten-minute drive into the delightful seaside town of St Jean de Luz with its old Basque houses, pretty cobbled streets and lovely sandy beaches. Sample some fine seafood in one of the town’s restaurants near the port or take a walk by one of the magnificent coastal paths, even following the trail all the way to Hendaye on the Spanish border if you are a keen hiker.

This is a lovely place for families with trampoline parks, mini golf and a road-train to beautiful sandy beaches featuring playgrounds and games. Older kids may want to try some surfing along this famous Basque coast with a great number of impressive beaches and surfing schools nearby, including the stunning beaches at Guéthary, only 7km away and famous for its surfing vibe.

Not forgetting the rather glamourous Biarritz, under half an hour away, where you can shop in trendy boutiques or wonderful markets, dine in excellent restaurants with an ocean-view and admire some of the impressive Art-Deco architecture that lines the famous Grande Plage.

Set in a secure residential development, with 3000m2 of gardens to the back of house, Le Jardin Vert is just a ten-minute drive from the vibrant town of St Jean de Luz in the Pyrénées-Atlantique.

Famed for its stunning coastline and world class surf, with the majestic Pyrénées and all their dramatic beauty providing the perfect backdrop, this stunning part of the world will provide you with a wide range of activities right on your doorstep.

It’s only 2km down the road to a beautiful golf course and there are tennis courts and a leisure centre with an indoor pool and slides for the kids just 3km from the villa.

Within ten minutes you’ll find yourself in the pretty seaside town of St Jean de Luz, offering much of the vibrancy Biarritz provides but without the crowds. Originally a small fishing port, St Jean de Luz later became a fashionable resort for well-to-do French, English and Spanish tourists in the late 19th century. Now you’ll find a quintessential Basque seaside town steeped in historical and architectural heritage. Explore the pretty streets filled with shops and restaurants before heading down to the port, known for its tuna, anchovies and sardines.

There are also some amazing walks along the coast and surrounding hills including the magnificent coastal route between Hendaye on the Spanish border to the south and Bidart to the north.

The Grande Plage is a lovely place to spend the afternoon with kids whilst experienced surfers should head north to Acotz beach for some impressive waves. With quad bike excursions and coastal hikes being just a few more activities you can try in St Jean de Luz, you’ll never get bored, and with a number of relaxing spa’s in town you can recover in luxury.

St Jean de Luz’ little sister town of Ciboure, is well worth a visit, just 6km away. The birthplace of the composer Maurice Ravel and home of artist Henri Matisse, Ciboure will charm visitors with its old town full of stone and timber-framed houses, its picturesque fishing port and its bustling Sunday morning market.

For a change of scene, head inland towards the majestic Pyrénées where you will find characterful Basque villages, including two of France’s Plus Beaux Villages; pretty Ainhoa (18km) and Sare (12km), where you can take the old wooden train up to the summit of La Rhune, one of the most dominant peaks of the Pyrénées.

Further north, 18km away, you’ll find the glittering gem in the Pyrénées-Atlantique crown, Biarritz, an elegant seaside resort dating back to the 19th century when aristocracy built their summer residences along this part of the coast, including the well-known Hotel du Palais, built by the wife of Napoleon III on the famous La Grande Plage.

Drive through the surfing hang-outs of Guéthary (7km) and Bidart (10km) where you can ride the waves amongst some of the world’s finest surfers or just sit back and take in the magnificent beaches and landscapes.
