Windward Escape is situated in the exclusive Cap Estate at the northern tip of the tropical Island of St Lucia, a gated community set amongst 1500 acres of rolling hills, between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. With an 18-hole championship golf course and the two idyllic beaches of Cotton Bay and Le Sport just a few minutes’ drive away you won’t need to go far to enjoy your wonderful surroundings. Slightly further afield you’ll find the beautiful Pigeon Island only 4km west of the villa and vibrant Rodney Bay just 6km south.

Pigeon Island National Park, a picturesque 44-acre national landmark boasts a beautiful white sandy beach set amongst stunning scenery. After soaking up the sunshine and swimming in the azure waters, you can visit the museum or climb to the vantage point of the historic Fort Rodney for awe-inspiring views including that of neighbouring island Martinique. You’ll also find two lovely restaurants and a brilliant rum bar located in the underground warren beneath the fort.

Other notable beaches include the natural black sandy beach of Anse Chastanet, where you can scuba on most of the Island’s beautiful coral reef, or perhaps you’d like to head to Grande Anse 25km south, where you can watch endangered leatherbacks crawl out of the water and lay their eggs on the shores. Or for family fun head to Reduit Beach, where banana boats whiz across the water and beach front bars pump out lively music. It’s also home to Splash Island Water Park, an essential excursion for kids of all ages.

For lively town life, you have Rodney Bay just a ten-minute drive away with its bustling nightlife and attractive marina bursting with glamorous supersized yachts, and great restaurants. A short distance from the marina, you’ll find Rodney Bay’s huge shopping complex; The Baywalk Mall. A hotspot for shoppers across Saint Lucia, this incredible centre has over eighty shops, a huge variety of restaurants and the only casino on the island.

The authentic St Lucian vibe however can be found in Gros Islet just a few minutes from Rodney Bay, where the historic streets are lined with rum shops and fishing shacks draped with drying nets, and the sound of reggae can always be heard day and night. Delve into culinary delights such as freshly cut coconut, BBQ chicken and freshly caught cod, and party the night away at a Jump Up – the fabulous rum infused street parties this area is famous for.

This dynamic Island offers such a wide range of activities. Catch a dollar bus half an hour to St Lucia’s vibrant capital Castries on a Saturday morning, where you’ll find row after row of market stalls, piled high with mouth-watering fruits and spices. Or head to the epic rainforest in the south and take the canopy tour or for the adrenaline junkies amongst you, try ziplining through the trees. Or if hiking trails are for you then perched along the southwest coast and protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the dramatic twin peaks of Gros Piton and Petit Piton are among the Caribbean island’s most memorable landmarks, so grab some appropriate footwear and climb the larger of the two for some spectacular views.

About the Island & Getting There

About St Lucia

The Land, The People, The Light – St Lucia’s motto couldn’t be more representative of this captivating sovereign island nation. Witness dazzling scenery, be spellbound by the fascinating locals and allow for St Lucia to brighten your day and show you a new way to life.

St Lucia gained its independence from the British Commonwealth in 1979 and after centuries of a French presence, which is most visible today in the original Capital of Soufrière, St Lucia is famous for its Pitons & landscapes and vivacious community.

St Lucia really is a hiker’s Nirvana! Where to start? That’s a tough question. However, with the likes of - The Diamond Botanical Gardens, Enbas Saut Waterfall Trail, Pigeon Island National Park, Sulphur Springs Park Scenic Drive and Tet Paul Nature Trail – it doesn’t matter! These UNESCO listed sites are a sight to behold. If you're likely to take to the water, you'll be able to admire the rich marine biodiversity just off the shore of St Lucia. Over 60% of the marine area is made up of coral reefs and these are very poular with snorkelers and scuba divers. Just make sure you put time aside to relish these privileged land & seascapes.

Start your cultural trip downtown in Castries. Here you will be provided with more than enough entertainment for an afternoon and evening. The local Market runs throughout the week and is certainly the right place to come for exotic fruits and tantalising Street Food - the Green Fig & Salt Fish is local delicacy and it's not scarce, so perhaps try a few variants on this regional intricacy and let us know which is your favourite! The vendors are incredibly animated, so expect a show to be put on if you choose to explore this part of the island and brush up on those haggling skills. La Place Carenage and Point Seraphine are very popular Malls and if you bear in mind the added incentive of these complexes being Duty-Free, you and your guests will certainly get some good deals (A taxi back to your villa after such an excursion is suggested!).

Many holiday makers are surprised to learn of St Lucia’s rich cocoa legacy. Ever since the 1700’s this island has been producing cocoa related products, that are incredibly sought after all across the world. Morne Coubaril Estate and La Dauphine Estate specialise in showcasing how plantations use to gather & manufacture the Cocoa Bean fruit and organise educational tours. After learning all about St Lucia’s former booming cocoa industry, you will probably need some therapy…how about chocolate therapy like you’ve never encountered before? Enquire at some of the islands more renowned Spas and you’ll be able to experience the benefits of a chocolate facial and massage. Remember - Chocolate isn’t a food, it’s a medicine!

We have selected some of the most exciting villas on the island, so browse through these dreamy holiday homes and have a look at our cheeky little guide to St Lucia!

Prior to Booking

Beautiful location, beautiful home perfect for our needs.

  • A family villa out of this world

    Posted by Bodiam on 19/12/2016

Stunning villa in top location with far reaching views over both the Atlantic Ocean & Caribbean Sea.

Nothing was too much trouble for Merlinda & Lydia, who prepared breakfast (& supper when we asked) and kept the villa lovely & clean. Francis was always on hand if we needed anything else but kept himself to himself when we didn't.
Even though we were a family of 2 grannies, 2 parents & 2 kids, I can imagine this place would be amazing for a larger party as there are so many chill out areas in which to sit, so you can really spread out. Each bedroom has an ensure. It's huge; I counted 70 steps from one end of the terrace to the other!

Only downside is that you can't really walk from the villa, but with a car you are perfectly placed with at least 4 beaches within a 10 min drive and lots more not much further than that.

Having just arrived home, I am already missing the pool, the hummingbirds & huge, brightly coloured caterpillars & the tame little birds around the house, enjoying watching the sun setting over Rodney Bay from the upstairs veranda outside my bedroom.

  • The views from the villa were breathtaking and the villa beautiful

    Posted by Joanne on 02/04/2013

We had a wonderful trip. The villa exceeded our expectations. We were well taken care of by our agent on the first day who gave us great recommendations on activities and restaurants. The villa staff was friendly and helpful. We felt we had lots of privacy at the villa as we enjoyed magnificent views having our afternoon cocktail!
