Treat yourself to the ultimate getaway in paradise by heading to St Lucia, an island where the waters are crystal clear and the beaches are calling your name. This island is an absolute gem, boasting stunning natural wonders unlike anywhere else. It’s breathtaking natural beauty has remained largely unspoilt, and it is a down-to-earth place even though it is dotted with countless small and luxurious resorts.

Of course, the beaches are one of the biggest draw cards to The Caribbean as you sun yourself, take a dip to cool off and repeat. There are many stunning beaches in St Lucia, Reduit Beach is one of the most popular swim spots, Anse Cochon an unspoilt dark sand beach and of course, Anse des Pitons, the white sand beach frequented by visitors to Sugar Beach. There are actually few white sand beaches with most offering a mix of orange and striking black, with only a few rare exceptions.

While the beaches are a must-see, there is more to St Lucia’s natural beauty than sand and crystal clear ocean. The island also has many lush, tropical landscapes worth exploring. Must-visits are the 19,000-acre National Rain Forest, the Diamond Botanical Gardens, Pigeon Island, and the Sault Falls.

If you want to get a true taste of St Lucia and immerse yourself in as much culture as possible, visit Castries Central Market where locals sell souvenirs, handicrafts and spices, as well as fresh fruit and veg. If you are a chocolate fan, Holetown Estate is well worth a visit as you can learn more about the chocolate making process - and give some a try, of course.

The villa itself is nestled in the luxury St Lucia resort and hotel, which is set within over 100 acres of lush rainforest on the site of a sugar plantation from the 18th century. This resort boasts elegance and luxury and you will be spoilt for choice, especially when it comes to food. There are three restaurant offerings on-site: The Great Room, which is perfect for discerning diners; The Terrace Restaurant, which is ideal for slightly more laid-back dining and Bayside Restaurant, which is perfect for enjoying Caribbean delicacies. There are also three bars and lounges: Bayside Bar in St Lucia, Cane Bar and The Palm Court Bar and Lounge, so you can wander down from your villa for cocktail and fresh local specialties. Of course, there may be nights you don’t want to leave your villa, so you can order room service or you can take private dining to a new level with a beach service dinner for two.

If you want to take a break from relaxing by the pool spend an hour or so at The Rainforest Spa, with specialty treatments sure to help you relax into your holiday like never before. You can also feel zen thanks to the yoga and pilates classes. There’s also complimentary watersports for those seeking something a little more exciting, from windsurfing and sailing to kayaking and Hobie Cats.

As you wander around in a blissful daze, with a full belly and a relaxed soul, you can enjoy the lush grounds of the resort. These usher down to Sugar Beach, one of the rare white sand beaches that leads into the glistening Caribbean Sea and offer stunning views of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Pitons at on your doorstep.

About the Island & Getting There

About St Lucia

The Land, The People, The Light – St Lucia’s motto couldn’t be more representative of this captivating sovereign island nation. Witness dazzling scenery, be spellbound by the fascinating locals and allow for St Lucia to brighten your day and show you a new way to life.

St Lucia gained its independence from the British Commonwealth in 1979 and after centuries of a French presence, which is most visible today in the original Capital of Soufrière, St Lucia is famous for its Pitons & landscapes and vivacious community.

St Lucia really is a hiker’s Nirvana! Where to start? That’s a tough question. However, with the likes of - The Diamond Botanical Gardens, Enbas Saut Waterfall Trail, Pigeon Island National Park, Sulphur Springs Park Scenic Drive and Tet Paul Nature Trail – it doesn’t matter! These UNESCO listed sites are a sight to behold. If you're likely to take to the water, you'll be able to admire the rich marine biodiversity just off the shore of St Lucia. Over 60% of the marine area is made up of coral reefs and these are very poular with snorkelers and scuba divers. Just make sure you put time aside to relish these privileged land & seascapes.

Start your cultural trip downtown in Castries. Here you will be provided with more than enough entertainment for an afternoon and evening. The local Market runs throughout the week and is certainly the right place to come for exotic fruits and tantalising Street Food - the Green Fig & Salt Fish is local delicacy and it's not scarce, so perhaps try a few variants on this regional intricacy and let us know which is your favourite! The vendors are incredibly animated, so expect a show to be put on if you choose to explore this part of the island and brush up on those haggling skills. La Place Carenage and Point Seraphine are very popular Malls and if you bear in mind the added incentive of these complexes being Duty-Free, you and your guests will certainly get some good deals (A taxi back to your villa after such an excursion is suggested!).

Many holiday makers are surprised to learn of St Lucia’s rich cocoa legacy. Ever since the 1700’s this island has been producing cocoa related products, that are incredibly sought after all across the world. Morne Coubaril Estate and La Dauphine Estate specialise in showcasing how plantations use to gather & manufacture the Cocoa Bean fruit and organise educational tours. After learning all about St Lucia’s former booming cocoa industry, you will probably need some therapy…how about chocolate therapy like you’ve never encountered before? Enquire at some of the islands more renowned Spas and you’ll be able to experience the benefits of a chocolate facial and massage. Remember - Chocolate isn’t a food, it’s a medicine!

We have selected some of the most exciting villas on the island, so browse through these dreamy holiday homes and have a look at our cheeky little guide to St Lucia!

Prior to Booking

Please be aware that St Lucia is an island nation that experiences weather patterns dictated by the Atlantic Ocean to the north of the island and the Caribbean Sea to the south of the island. This tropical rainforest climate results in the island experiencing a hurricane season, which usually occurs between June to November. When thinking about booking your holiday to St Lucia, please consult Foreign travel advice for more information.

  • Amazing Family Resort

    Posted by Tim on 22/12/2018

If you are looking for an upscale resort that caters to adults and kids, this is it! Besides the amazing service and food, the resort takes extra special care of the kids in terms of programs offered.

  • Complete perfection!

    Posted by Natalie on 09/12/2018

We stayed at sugar beach for 2 weeks for our a honeymoon. It was complete paradise and the staff were excellent in making sure we had the most perfect experience. The setting between the two Pitons is phenomenal. The snorkelling at sugar beach was fantastic and the beach and the water itself was pristine. We had an absolutely fantastic stay and would definitely recommend to friends ( if it’s within their budget as very expensive!). We would 100% come back.

  • Simply Paradise- BreathtakingSetting with Top Notch Service and Food to Match

    Posted by Iori on 02/12/2018

We have traveled to a lot of high end resorts all over the world and this resort is in the top few we have been to for sure. We had the villa at the top of a hill that allowed for great views from the back- very private wrap around deck, and included private wading pool, fantastic outdoor shower, four comfy lounge chairs, hammock, and more. There was private butler service that was extremely attentive; if you called for a shuttle to the beach or restaurant, or wherever, it never took more than a few minutes to arrive. The "turndown service" at night always left special treats for us from Rum to desserts and more. The refrigerator was always replenished with complimentary beer and water (and other items for purchase). There were several restaurants to choose from on site but my favorites were Bayside on the Beach- had good mix of casual dishes and fancier dishes all that were delicious. Their flat pizzas rivaled the best pizza I had in Italy- just delicious. The Mahi Mahi there was excellent as well. My next favorite restaurant was the Cane Lounge with an emphasis on sushi and cooked Asian dishes. They were all very good and I loved the atmosphere. My least favorite was the most expensive restaurant "The Great Room" I found it to be mediocre and extremely pricey- main courses $40-50 US dollars on average. I did the tasting menu, better value, but wasn't worth the money. They have a decent fitness center and offer daily yoga or pilates classes outside with a stunning view of the ocean and Piton mountains. Amazing! There are also two tennis courts with a breathtaking view of the mountains behind them. The Spa was in the rain forest in a very pretty setting but would have been great if there was a hot tub to soak in either before or after the spa treatment. The beach area was lovely with a decent amount of shaded areas, and some nice on site water sports/boating. The snorkeling there is fantastic- no need to do an excursion for snorkeling. The pool area was very pretty but under-utilized. My one recommendation would be to add in a volleyball net in the water for the kids, or a basketball hoop, or something. Not much for the kids or adults to do in the pool. Many resorts have swim up bar areas or something to attract the adults. This one aspect could be improved. Overall, a fantastic experience though and would go back again in a heart beat!!
