Villa Pelican is an elegant eight en-suite bedroom home on the island of Barbados. Six bedrooms lie in the main house, with the remaining two situated in a separate cottage.

The villa’s dining room sits adjacent to the well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar and plenty of social space to prepare and enjoy food together, either inside or on the outdoor terrace. The bedrooms benefit from lovely patterned interiors and are themed in styles including a silverback suite, reef room, alligator room, turtle room and seahorse room. All bedrooms contain windows that let in dazzling natural light and provide splendid views of the surroundings and luxurious marble floors. Some of the bedrooms benefit from balconies looking out over the countryside and sea.

The garden is easily the finest feature of Villa Pelican, and with the blissful tropical climate, you will not miss out on any of the sunny days. The large infinity private pool sits just in front of the villa’s patio and comes with enough sun lounges for all guests. In the garden, you can appreciate the gorgeous two acres of land that Villa Pelican resides on.

The Cottage, positioned at the end of the garden houses two twin bedroom suites with en-suite bathrooms. The quaint cottage has its own kitchen, Wi-Fi, television and living room, as well as a small garden with a seating area. Don’t miss out on this magnificent holiday home on the privileged Sugar Hill Community.

Villa Pelican is located on the Sugar Hill Estate in Saint James. The estate’s clubhouse boasts a wonderful covered terrace and large 2,000 square foot pool for you to enjoy.

Beach Clubs are also available to visit on the estate. Mullins Beach & Spa is only a few minutes’ walk away from Sugar Hill, where you can indulge in total relaxation on the pristine white sand. The club’s luxury spa offers a range of treatments that will allow you to de-stress and unwind.

Royal Pavilion Beach is only a short drive from Villa Pelican and is one of the most illustrious beaches on the whole island. This private beach club is available to visit via complimentary membership provided by several Sugar Hill Estate villas.

Accessible via a 15-minute drive is Farley Hill National Park, a great site to discover nature and history. The great house on Farley Hill is now ruins overtaken by overgrown trees and vines, making for an epic jungle-like site. The house was built in 1818, years before it eventually decayed and turned into ruins by the 1940’s. During the 1950’s, the house was restored with the aim of it being a film location, but the buildings’ new inflammable material was demolished in a fire. Aside from the ruins, visitors will be able to watch green monkeys in the garden’s mahogany trees and gaze over of the eastern coast of the island while enjoying a picnic from home.

About the Island & Getting There

About Barbados

At first glance you could be mistaken for thinking that Barbados is purely a beach holiday destination, but you're urged to reconsider this common belief. The island of Barbados is peppered with astonishing landscapes (both coastal and inland), enchanting locals, sublime cuisine, intriguing rums, fascinating wildlife, symbolic architecture and a selection of striking holiday villas.

Delve deep into the history of the island and start your holiday by visiting Sunbury Plantation House & Museum. This former plantation was built in 1660's and the premises are scattered with antiquities that delicately detail a recent history of Barbados. St. Nicholas Abbey also provides an insightful representation of Sugarcane production, Bajan artefacts and a wonderful observation point at Cherry Tree Hill. If you’re keen to visit one of the oldest Parliamentary buildings within the Commonwealth and appreciate the democratic legacy of Barbados, drop by The Parliament Buildings. This neo-gothic congress can be found in Bridgetown and act as a representation of Barbados’s Independence. There is so much history present throughout the island and as a result, Bridgetown and its Garrison has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, which the locals are very proud of.

Great efforts have been made to persevere the natural beauty of Barbados, so if you’re drawn to the exploration of National Parks and multicoloured gardens, it won’t take you long to realise that Barbados is a haven for such paradises! Within the Andromeda Botanic Gardens, Farley Hill National Park, Flower Forest, Hunte's Gardens and Welchman Hall Gully - visitors, and Botanist alike, will be lost for hours admiring these astonishing botanical parklands. Keep an eye out for the Dwarf Poinciana, or Peacock Flower…it’s the national flower of Barbados.

Bajan’s take their food very seriously! If you and your fellow travellers are enticed by the gastronomic aspect of holidaying, we believe you’ve selected the right island. With every aspect of cookery mastered; from pickling to freshly prepared dishes, sweet & savoury, fragrant & spicy and of course, the bountiful choice of seafood. Check out the food stalls in Paynes Bay Church – where vendors exhibit locally made dishes & street food that will scintillate the taste buds. At the end of every working week, locals and tourists both flock to Oistins, for 'Fish Fry Day'. This is a must for those who haven’t undergone the experience! The evening starts with barbecues and then ascends into a joyful party. This caps off a busy few days of work for locals as well as the 'strains' associated with serious holidaying.

Barbados is of course iconic for its Beaches & Rum…so why not bring them together? You will have to go out of your way not to be able to find a beach bar along the west coast of the island, as well as the countless Rum Shops. Yes, you’ve read correctly, Rum Shops! These small and locally run businesses embrace the Bajan spice of life, in liquid form. Very delicious! If you’re searching for something a little more special, take a trip to the east coast and visit Sand Dunes Bar and Restaurant at Windy Hill, for an unforgettable experience.

Barbados is a distinct and striking part of the Caribbean. It’s a great fit for all types of travellers, as the island really does have it all. For a little more information about this delightful island, check out our guide to a remarkable stay!

Prior to Booking

This place is amazing! You feel at home but in the most relaxing way. The view is awesome. You wake up in the morning drink your coffee or tea staring out at the ocean or watch the hummingbirds. Our vacation wasn't even halfway through and we're trying to figure out when to come back.

  • Fantastic Bajan Villa

    Posted by Helen on 08/03/2018

The property is in a safe location, with stunning views. It is spotless and the gardens are beautiful. There are amazing beaches and shops within a five minute drive and Bridgetown is only 25 minutes away. The staff are friendly, helpful and do a fantastic job. We hired cars so we could explore the island but it was also easy to get taxis for nights out. Impossible not to have a wonderful, relaxing holiday!

We went here last week with five couples and had an amazing time!! This place is as beautiful as the pictures show! It is extremely clean, the views are breathtaking and the housekeeper is so helpful and sweet! She always went above and beyond to meet our every need. The rooms are spacious and bathrooms are great. The infinity pool is lovely. The outside dining is amazing! It was truly just a wonderful place to stay! There are wild monkeys one will see throughout the day which is so fun to watch!

  • We loved it!

Villa Pelican was a fantastic house to stay in. I couldn't believe that the house looked exactly how it was advertised, since it looked too good to be true! All the rooms were beautiful and clean, and we loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom. We spent all of our time at the house sitting outside by the pool since it had such a lovely view looking out over the island and the ocean. The sunsets were gorgeous from the backyard. We also saw monkeys in the trees which was very fun. Sonia, the housekeeper, was wonderful. She was extremely helpful and did a great job keeping the house clean for us. The house is in a gated community with beautiful homes. I can't say enough about how luxurious this house is.
