Nearby, there are opportunities for wildlife spotting, deer, red squirrels, buzzards, otters and even basking sharks have all been spotted. There is also the chance to enjoy the rich history the area is steeped in through visiting one of the many ancient sites, castles or ruins.

Restaurant and shopping amenities can be found in the thriving market town of Dunoon which is only a short distance away. While Loch Lomond National Park is just a short drive away and is popular with both cyclists and walkers who can enjoy the varied and striking scenery.

  • Our second visit!

    Posted by Alan on 27/08/2018

A second visit - 15 of us from 4 families . Loads of space , wonderful location. great kitchen facilities for cooking for this size of group and large adjacent dining room. Extensive grounds and lovely shoreline with brilliant views. Welcome starter pack of food and delivery of fresh dug potatoes on the first evening! Local shop has all you need - amazingly well stocked. The house is warm, comfortable and furnished with the owners unique collection of pieces which set the place off really well. Ideal area for walking, biking, beach, sailing centre (1 mile) and only 4 miles from the modern swimming pool and spa at Portavadie. Very quiet area - unspoilt and largely unknown -marketed as Argyll's secret coast - long may it remain so! We all enjoyed a truly fantastic week together and are sincerely grateful to have been able to return to this magnificent house in its marvellous location - our thanks and appreciation to the whole estate team.

Fantastic, the pictures do not do it justice. Excellent garden and private beach for dogs. We were here for a 60th and exceeded all expectations.

  • Wonderful location and house for large families or groupd

We all had a memorable, relaxing extremely comfortable weekend. Plenty space for us to spreaf out. Loved all the quirky surprises the house has to offer. We definitely want to return.

  • Fabulous Place

    Posted by Margaret on 24/04/2018

The house was amazing. It was large enough for everyone in our group to have personal space yet it was comfortable and homely. The kitchen was well equipped and every need seemed to be catered for. The grounds and walks were stunning. Fabulous place.

  • Fantastic!

    Posted by Stuart on 04/01/2018

We had a fantastic stay at Ardlamont House over Christmas. The house had been beautifully decorated for us for the season, and the owners and staff were always on hand if anything was needed. Added to this, the location is simply stunning, with the private beach just a five or ten minute walk away which looks out to the Isle of Arran. Everyone was so impressed. The resident dogs were great fun, as were the geese who waited outside the kitchen window for scraps and attention. A few points of constructive criticism are warranted, but nothing major. The furnishings in the bedrooms were excellent, and same for the living rooms and dining room. I thought the kitchen and laundry room was in need of some renovation and improvement - the provision of decent pots/pans/knives etc didn't stand up to the excellent provision of crockery and glassware etc. We also arrived on the evening of our first day and the place was literally freezing – the owner arrived the next morning with three new electric heaters. Added to this, the open fireplaces in the living room and snug cannot be lit due to chimney issues. Having the open fireplace in the dining room was lovely though.
