There’s something quintessentially English about a castle – England may be a small country, but it is packed with medieval and ancient castles. People from all over the world visit England for its history, stopping off at castles to marvel in their grandeur and hear about their stories. But you don’t have to just visit a castle – our collection of castles in England are actually available to rent, so you can really get to know the beauty and history of your very own private castle. Talk about a memorable holiday!
Heritage Collection
Our Heritage Collection is arguably the most interesting – these are the chateaux and castles with stories to tell. From castles that date back to medieval times to those used in battle or have hosted royalty, the collection of England castles in the Heritage Collection are steeped in history – while some have been lovingly modernised, others still have most of their old features.
Manor houses
Although these aren’t castles in the traditional sense, we include manor houses in our castles selection because, well you should see them – they’re just as stately and grand as some of our castles! Often settled in huge private estates, you can live like a Lord or Lady of the Manor in these beautiful holiday homes.
Unique rooms
There are many reasons staying in a castle feels unique – for one, it’s not the usual place people tend to go on holiday. There’s also the feeling like you’ve stepped back in time due to the amount of old-school rooms in the properties – drawing rooms where people can be entertained, wine cellars and fully stocked bars for your drinks evenings, libraries for snuggling down with some classic literature, palace rooms, turrets, grand dining halls. We could go on!
Castles with a pool/hot tub
We can’t imagine back in the day, these castles had pools or hot tubs (gentle soak after a battle?!) but they’ve upped their game now. Many of our manor houses and castles in England have hot tubs or pools to help elevate your stay – as if you needed it to be any more memorable?!
