About the surrounding area of Casa TavarezOn the south coast of the Dominican Republic, just a few minutes’ drive from La Romana International Airport, Casa de Campo is perhaps the finest resort in the country. It was certainly the first, and now – more than 50 years on – it offers a comprehensive range of facilities including 13 tennis courts and three top-notch golf courses including the spectacular, ocean-view Teeth of the Dog.
A shooting range, equestrian centre and soccer school can all be found at Casa de Campo, so it’s the ideal resort for those who like their holidays active. As befits the location, you can enjoy various water-sports too, the Caribbean Sea and the Chavon River make for stunning aquatic adventures.
Positioned on the resort’s private Minitas Beach, you will find a buzzing beach club with excellent dining and often live music or a DJ to accompany it. The beach itself is an idyllic spot to catch the sun, and the turquoise waters are popular with snorkellers and kayakers too.
A local highlight for visitors is Altos de Chavon, a charming village which may look centuries old, but actually dates back only as far as 1982. This makes the painstaking recreation all the more impressive; along with an archaeological museum and cultural centre, you will even find an incredible open-air amphitheatre. Big-name musicians often visit Casa de Campo, so don’t be surprised to find the likes of Elton, Sting or Bryan Adams playing there. As well as the amazing outdoor pool, the large lawns are perfect for safe playing, and you can enjoy some good times together with the barbecue and dining terrace ideal for meals in the sun.
The house is well equipped with tech, from Wi-Fi and television to a surround sound music system, so there will always be something to entertain them. That’s also true of the resort, where specially designed kids’ clubs provide all sorts of activities suitable for every age group – and they’ll take care of them while you are out having fun too.
Casa de Campo is great for dining out, with a host of cool restaurants, bars and a beach club where a DJ lays down some suitable chilled grooves. That private beach is just a short distance away too, as are tennis courts, shops and a great movie theatre down by the marina.

Stunning home – perfect in every way!
We had a fantastic stay at the villa. The home is absolutely stunning. It is perfect for a group – every bedroom is immaculate and the home is decorated so tastefully. All the bedrooms have the same layout with beds and lovely bathrooms, with the expectation of the Master Bedroom which has a K (honestly, every bedroom feels like a master bedroom!). There are numerous spaces to gather and relax inside and outside – a generous home that is comfortable in every way! The staff is super friendly and eager to care of you. It was a wonderful vacation and our complaint is that we had to come home!
