La Casetta, a cottage in Umbria, is a bright and colorful home perfect for a romantic getaway or for extra accommodation with the Villa Buona, just a few steps up a cobbled street. Dine al fresco under an ivy-covered cane pergola, and enjoy an afternoon nap on a day bed in the beautifully scented garden.
The cottage, completely redesigned by the attentive owner Andrea, is decorated with an eclectic mix of items found on their travels, including Moroccan rugs, French-style café table, Austrian clothes holders and objets d'art from India. The master bedroom has views over farmland and hills and both bedrooms are comfortable year-round with air conditioning or heating - though you may not need it in Umbria’s excellent climate! Relax in the living room, which has a working fireplace and Satellite TV with BBC channels.
Spello, an enchanting hillside town is 8 km from Assisi and 20 min drive from Perugia is ideal for walks on the cobblestone streets to a medieval church and Roman arches and ruins. Experience small town Italian life, with little intrusion from tourists. You’re well situated to drive to Umbria’s famous cities and the wineries of Montefalco with ease.
What you should know…
- Larger parties travelling together may also book the neighbouring and equally gorgeous La Camerata (sleeps 2). Villa Giardiniera (sleeps 6) and Villa Buona (sleeps 2) are also virtually next door
- There is no pool at this property, but secluded garden and day bed provide a perfect setting for unwinding and relaxation
- Spello is a quiet village - if you’re looking for a party house, another property would be more appropriate
- The property is not suitable for guests with walking difficulties and wheelchair users
- A resident's parking permit is included

About the surrounding area of La CasettaThe region of Umbria is known as the ‘green heart of Italy". It is one of the finest holiday destinations, not only in Italy but also in the whole of Europe. Umbria is a land of spectacular, pristine, and largely rural landscapes, including rolling wooded hills, mountains, valleys and of course sublime art and architecture.
Only a 2 hour drive from Rome and just 8 kms from Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, lies the enchanting hillside town of Spello. Quiet and elegant with excellent restaurants famed for typical robust Umbrian cuisine, fine wines and historic buildings, Spello is the ideal base from which to discover and explore this extraordinary part of Italy.
