The house is just extraordinary.

A lovely stay at Maison Bourg. The house is just extraordinary. We really loved having Chef Franck come to cook dinner for us. Excellent local food and such fun to be ourselves together with friends and family. Many thanks.

This warm, friendly, and extremely comfortable village Manor House in South West France is an ideal base from which to explore the Dordogne, Cele and Lot river valleys and the beautiful villages and countryside in-between!

Ideally suited for both families and friends, and designed with the enjoyment of the kids in mind, between the stone walls you’ll find entertainment aplenty - from the billiards room to books, toys and games. Outside, the large lawned garden offers space for the little ones to roam, and the swimming pool offers a cool respite for the whole family. With a large gas grill located on the sunny, south facing terrace, family dinner time can easily move outside into the fresh country air.

Adults with a culinary interest will take pleasure in the gorgeous custom kitchen with high-end appliances and rich butcher block counter-tops, adjoining the wine cellar and beautiful vaulted dining room, the collective heart of the home. This substantial family villa offers multiple venues where you can enjoy that perfect glass of Cahors wine - two dining areas, a quiet east facing deck with view of the village church, a large sunny, south facing terrace overlooking the pool, or one of three casual yet extremely comfortable sitting rooms.

Situated in the small hamlet of Le Bourg, conveniently located between the historic towns of Figeac (15km) and Rocamadour (20km), this family villa is nestled on the edge of the verdant 180,000 hectare Causses National Park. Enjoy walking or cycling the local country lanes, or drive across the Causses to Cahors (60km), a dramatic town surrounded by the River Lot, to discover the eponymous style of wine produced there. An adventurous spirit will find plenty to do - exploring the medieval villages and castles of the region, the caves of the Gouffre de Padirac and Le Pech Merle, horseriding, canoeing, or simply going to one of the many weekly farmers markets in the local towns and villages.

What Oliver loves...

  • This villa is seriously spacious, offering multiple venues throughout for guests to chill and relax with a book and wine glass in hand
  • This family-friendly villa in the Midi-Pyrénées lets you travel light - the books, chess-sets, playing cards, board games and toys are already here.
  • The local foie gras and Cahors wine are divine (store your purchases in the wine cellar!)
  • Outdoor activities in the region are endless! Go caving, hiking, horseback riding, or paddling.

What you should know

  • This family villa is located in very small hamlet with limited services – there is a boulangerie within walking distance of the villa. Larger amenities are close by but you’ll need a car to get around.
  • The nearest airport is Brive-La-Gaillarde – approximately 50 minutes' drive away. Other airports located within proximity of the villa include Rodez, Toulouse, Limoges and Bergerac.

This home is a part of our Great Value and Heritage Collection!

This is a historic home, and as such:

  • It has probably been standing for over 100 years, which means it's full of historic value and charm but it may also have one or two quirks!
  • Some of the decor and furnishings may not be brand new, but that should not detract from your holiday experience in this unique setting that allows you to take a step back in time!
