City-dwellers who don’t require a complete escape to the country will adore this villa in the Dordogne, on the outskirts of Bergerac in lovely residential area just 2km from the centre. Here you’ll revel in the large lawned garden and private pool, while remaining close enough to the city centre to walk there. This villa comes with urban comforts; you’ll especially appreciate the large reclining sofa and ultra-modern kitchen. Two covered outdoor terraces invite you to dine al fresco, soaking in a little bit of the French countryside feeling before you make your way into town.

Walk (or bus) just 2 km to Bergerac’s Old Town, where the winding streets hold medieval architectural treasures in addition to the boutiques and restaurants. A few Michelin-recommended restaurants are in the Old Town - La Table du Marché Couvert and L’Imparfait. At the end of your evening, you might take in a show at Le Music Hall for a burlesque-style spectacle.

Bergerac is also the centre of the region’s wine production; you must visit the Musee du Vin to learn all about the local appellation. Rent a car for a day trip (at least) to explore the dozens of wineries radiating out from Bergerac along the Dordogne...you'll be so glad you did.

  • A car is nice to have to tour the beautiful countryside (and the many wineries), otherwise just fly into the centre of Bergerac and cab or bus it back to your comfortable villa.
  • The very friendly and helpful owners occupy the neighbouring property which is entirely separate and private and only the main entrance gate is shared.

The city of Bergerac, with its international airport, is about 2 km away. A visit to the old town standing out for its medieval architecture, narrow streets full of local boutiques and good restaurant, is highly recommended.

Here, you will also find the unmissable Maisons de Vins and will have the opportunity to take a tour along the Route de Vins de Bergerac.

Really do?

There are about a thousand and one chateaux in the Perigord region, and since the 12th Century they have remained a marvel of the region. You must visit as many as you can, each one is unique in its style and charm.

Really eat?
The region is famous for caviar, truffles and foie gras. Also, with over 1200 hectares of vineyards and 12 wine appellations you cannot avoid the wine!

    We were welcomed by the owner who was hugely helpful in explaining anything we needed to know for our stay (even explaining where is best to park the car to avoid the sun!). The house is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing week away with children - the pool is very well maintained and safe, the patio area is easily big enough for everyone to stretch out and relax, the kitchen is very well equipped, the lounge is amazing, I could go on... Bergerac is a beautiful town and the surrounding area easily offers enough to do for a week or more. Monbazillac is definitely a highlight if you like wine too. Highly recommended.

    Just returned from an amazing 2 weeks at Primrose. Beautiful house and well equipped. 2 outside terraces to dine at with a great pool. Couldn’t have asked for better and the sun shone. Friendly, helpful owners who live on site. Villa is close to the lovely town of Bergerac and the surrounding area. Will definitely be back.

    All I can say is wow! The villa was amazing - the pool was a good size, the bedrooms and living space were massive and everything was super clean. The owners were two of the kindest people we have met and so helpful. The villa is secure and the grounds are massive and well kept. We have not felt this relaxed in a long long time - will definitely be coming back!

    Primrose provides excellent accommodation and is complemented by luxury facilities inside and out. The pool area and eating areas are particularly pleasant and no review would be complete without mention of the caring and considerate hosts.

    The villa was just amazing and the host was very friendly. Also, the location is only 15-20 minutes walking distance fron the center and all its supermarkts and nice restaurants.

    Nous vous remercions pour votre hospitalité lors de notre séjour à Primrose. Nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour à Bergerac et dans la région et nous avons particulièrement apprécié la maison, la piscine et le jardin. Sheila et moi sommes toujours inquiets que notre fils, Gareth, passe un bon moment et il a beaucoup aimé la maison, la piscine et la terrasse qui étaient facilement accessibles pour lui et en sécurité, ce qui nous a aussi fait nous sentir heureux et en sécurité. Nos amis, Gary et Sandy ont également passé un moment fantastique et nous nous sentons tous très détendus après nos vacances. Merci encore !
