The house is located on the Costa da Morte, where there is plenty of beautiful countryside in which to walk, hike, cycle and relax. Spectacular beaches and the Baldaio-Razo natural area are less than ten minutes away and you can also surf, horse ride and play golf in the local area. The charming village of Carballo, just five minutes away, plays host to a mouth-watering market every Thursday and every other Sunday, or you could take a day trip to A Coruña, around twenty minutes away, or Santiago de Compostela, just over thirty minutes away, and the neighbouring towns of Finistère, Ponteceso Caión and Malpica.

The nearest airport is in A Coruña, approximately twenty-five minutes away, so getting there couldn’t be any easier! The nearest bus stop is just two minutes away, and the closest restaurant or bar is just 300m from the villa. The nearby sandy beach of Arnados is just a ten minute drive away.

The nearby city of A Coruña is definitely worth a visit; steeped in history and culture, it has maintained close links with its old fishing and commercial port. The peninsula on which the Old City stands also contains the Tower of Hercules, one of the symbols of the city, which is an interesting Romanesque collection of streets, squares and medieval churches. Its lively streets are lined with fine examples of Romanesque architecture. One of the most beautiful is the church of Santiago. Built in the 12th century, it is the oldest church in the city, with later additions from the 14th and 15th centuries. Inside, the nave is wide, with pointed arches, and a polychromed statue of St. James the Apostle which dates from the 13th Century.

Santiago is also located just over half an hour away; there are many reasons to visit this beautiful city: history, nature, leisure or gastronomy are some of the things that tourists can enjoy. Visit the famous cathedral, Saint Sign of Santiago, and get lost in the narrow streets and squares that make up its historic quarter with centuries of history and majestic buildings, many of them from medieval times.

About the Island & Getting There

About Galicia

Like many parts of Spain, Galicia has its very own identity that has remained intact through its regional dialect and distinguishing culture. Although Galicia is recognised for its holy traditions, we urge budding tourists to also consider its astonishing green countryside & rivers and its UNESCO World Heritage sites. Occasionally you may even hear the gentle tootling of bagpipes, known locally as the Galician Gaita, along this northern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.

You're likely to fly into Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of Galicia and is probably best known for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its route. Many of the travellers embark on this journey by foot and tend to be mesmerised by this fine city at the end of their trek. Casco Viejo, or the Old Town, is a good place to end or even start your holiday. This area of the city is blessed with markets, restaurants, bars and buildings from a bygone era. After exhausting yourself in the busyness of the city, take a day trip to Praia de Rodas. This small island, just off Vigo, has been noted as having some of the best beaches in the world. It has to be seen to be believed!

Galicia is divided into four key regions; A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and our favourite – Pontevedra. A Galician proverb states that Pontevedra gives water to travellers. We firmly believe this to be true, as this particular part of Galicia has everything a traveller could need for an unforgettable experience and it almost feels like this City is constantly giving back. Whilst you holiday in Pontevedra you will realise that days are structured around mealtime. And why wouldn't they be? With some of the best seafood you will experience in Spain and the noteworthy Albariño wine, you may notice your jeans feeling a little tighter toward the end of your holiday. You will be glad to know that your waistline need not be a cause for concern though! Pontevedra is blessed with some of the best hiking trails, medieval monasteries, estuaries and valleys within Spain. Don't forget about the coastline either! Rarely you will you find so many empty beaches, so make the most of this privacy and just embrace the nature around you.

Galicia is still an unspoilt part of the world. It has everything a diverse group of friends & family need to have a glorious adventure.

Aguapark de Cerceda, a brilliant waterpark, is located 1km to the south of Cerceda on the A Coruña to Santiago de Compostela road in the province of La Coruña and is the perfect water park to visit in summer for the family with children. Children will be beside themselves with joy; they can choose from a number of waterslides, fun pools and wave pools.

Located close to the tip of the peninsula near to the Tower of Hercules, is the Aquarium Finisterrae. With huge tanks housing many a colourful, peculiar-looking and even mind-boggling fish, octopus, rays and just about every kind of marine life that you care to imagine. Outdoor pools with Atlantic seals happily bathing in the water and interactive displays and activities in the Maremagnum Hall makes a day out at the Aquarium Finisterrae an educational, enlightening and remarkably entertaining experience for all the family.

Fascinate the children by taking them to witness some of the most breathtaking waterfalls in the whole of Spain. The Parque Natural de O Invernadeiro is part of the Central Massif of Ourense, and is bordered by two impressive rivers – the Ribeira Grande and Ribeira Pequena. Not only will your children have an invigorating day out here in the fresh air, and air doesn’t come much fresher than in this Natural Park, but they will return home telling stories about seeing some truly impressive and unusual flora and fauna.

Located off the south west coast of Galicia, the Islas Atlanticas National Park comprises of four islands, which form an important land and sea ecosystem for the hundreds of different bird colonies that flock to the islands. A day trip by boat to these islands is guaranteed to be an illuminating, informative and enjoyable day out for everybody, especially the kids.

  • There is plenty to see and do in Galicia!

Posted by Hadley Family on 25/08/2017

We had a lovely stay at this Villa! Eva and Roberto were extremely nice and took very good care of us and making sure we had everything taken care of upon our arrival. Eva greeted us warmly at the house and showed us around. We enjoyed a beautiful weekend in their home with our two children and our dog. The property is in a beautiful location with a beautiful view! The area is very peaceful and quiet, which is exactly what we were looking for. The house is very well taken care of and everything we needed was provided. It was very nice to be able to order breakfast and dinner to be delivered to the house as well so we didn't have to bother with going out and we could enjoy being in the home longer. There is plenty to see and do in Galicia! We very much recommend a stay at their gorgeous home! We so wished we could have stayed longer! Some day we hope to return to Galicia again!"
