The nearest beach is Avlaki, just two kilometres away, set in a natural bay with a verdant forest backdrop, white pebbles with crystal clear waters, and family-friendly restaurants. Whilst Kerasia beach is three kilometres away, set within an idyllic landscape with quiet calm waters, it’s ideal for snorkelling and swimming, has organised sun loungers, seafront tavernas, and a lush verdant backdrop, that’s great for walkers too. Corfu has two hundred and seventeen kilometres of coastline that are populated with beautiful beaches, most notably St George’s in the south, with the longest sandy beach, and fabulous facilities. It’s only five kilometres from the closest town of Kassiopi, a picturesque traditional fishing village, that dates to Roman times, and is now a friendly resort, with lots of facilities for a fun holiday visit. The old town can be traced back to ancient Greece, with thousands of years of history, Venetian architecture, French influences, and English rule. Follow the winding streets to discover fortresses and palaces, Byzantine and Archaeological museums, destination squares, thirty-seven churches and a cathedral, souvenir shops, and a whole host of inviting restaurants, cafes, and bars. Visit Achilleion Palace, once the summer home of Sisi, Elizabeth, Empress of Austria, or take a trip to Mon Repos Palace, the original summer residence of the King of Greece, and the birthplace of Prince Philip.
Get a taste of Corfu with an olive oil or wine tour, sample the delights, and then take some home with you. If it’s nightlife you are after, many of the beach clubs offer after sundown sets, top of the list is Pazuzu Club in Glyfada or Fabrica at Acharavi. Party until dawn at the holiday hot spot destinations of Sidari, Acharavi or Kavos, or take a gamble at the Corfu Casino. Venture further afield with a trip to Benitses Bay, where you can take daily boat trips, cruise along the shore, or island hop to Paxoi and Antipaxoi, tiny islets in the Ionian Sea.
