Nestled in the rolling countryside between Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Avignon, with many characterful medieval villages nearby, Maison De Flamant Rose offers a peek into the true Provençal lifestyle. This holiday home accommodates up to 8 guests in stylish and contemporary interiors.

Bright and modern, the villa’s open-plan layout boasts a living room facing the outdoor terrace, with large windows letting plenty of natural light in. Here guests can find a billiards table, comfy sofas and a TV which leads into a chic kitchen equipped with modern appliances. Aspiring chefs will love the state-of-the-art fittings, and details such as the wine fridge.

One bedroom with its own shower room is located downstairs, while the rest of the bedrooms can be found on the upper floor, conveniently tucked away for privacy. Each is tastefully furnished in a melange of neutral hues with the occasional pop of blue or dark grey.

A single step from the living room takes you to the outdoor terrace and garden, with a front-row view of the pool and the surrounding greenery. The terrace makes for the ideal place to soak up the sunshine during the day and watch it slip behind the horizon in the evening with a glass of local wine. Others will love swimming in the long pool or relaxing on a deckchair without a single care in the world.

The closest village, Barbentane, is only a 5-minute drive away, offering guests an option to explore its surroundings and amenities. These include some historical monuments such as churches and old windmills, as well as a couple of restaurants and a supermarket.

Avignon, with its historic past and array of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is only a 15-minute drive away, meaning you can spend every day strolling around its crumbling, cobble-stone streets and taking in its old-world charm. It is also full of delis, bistros and restaurants serving traditional French cuisine, alongside ambient wine bars so is the perfect place for foodies and wine lovers.

The city of Nîmes is also a comfortable 45-minute drive away if you are after a change of scene. Best known for its well-preserved Roman monuments such as the Arena of Nîmes – a double-tiered amphitheatre similar to the one in Rome – and the limestone temple Maison Carrée, it lures history buffs from all around the world to admire the architecture and learn more about its intriguing past.

If you want to get out to nature and start exploring, you will be really spoiled for choice here. The Alpilles Natural Regional Park is a nature reserve offering walking and hiking trails as well as biking and horse-riding options.

Camargue Regional Natural Park can be discovered in 30 minutes by car. The rich territory is made of plains, salt marshes and Salicornia moors where you can spot wild horses, herds of bulls and pink flamingos, and wander through pastures full of fascinating fauna and flora.

Other cities that are easily reachable and can be added to your itinerary include Montpellier, Aries and Aix-en-Provence, all buzzing with life and offering a change of pace with the benefits of big-city living.

Maison De Flamant Rose is ideally situated in an area consisting of a plethora of Provençal villages and cities. Nestled in the rolling countryside of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France, it is known for its rich and varied landscape full of lavender fields and breathtaking natural beauty.

Barbentane, a quaint village by the banks of the Rhône, is just a 5-minute drive from the maison and offers typical Provençal charm. It is simply the place to be for a harmonious stroll around cobbled alleyways, with buildings like Maison des Chevaliers and Moulin de Bretoule creating fairy-tale-like scenery.

Just 15 minutes by car across the river Durance, a left tributary of the Rhône, you can reach Avignon. The city is bursting at its seams with great sightseeing opportunities, and two of its landmarks are classified as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. While the Papal Palace is a one of the largest and most important medieval Gothic buildings in Europe, Avignon Bridge running across the river Rhône is also worth admiring. During summer months, you can see runners as well as sun-bathers stretching their legs next to the water, while in the evenings it is a dreamy place to have a romantic picnic or sip cocktails in one of the many waterside bars.

Food lovers will tantalise their taste buds in the Les Halles Market – a large food market with stallholders selling everything from cheeses to street food. The city also enjoys ambient cafés, bistros, and restaurants, with many of them boasting terraces spilling onto the pavements. If culture is more your thing, head to Musée du Petit Palais or visit one of the oldest museums in the city housed in a spectacular 18th-century hotel, Musée Calvet.

Nîmes is an awesome place for all history buffs and architecture lovers, as it is filled with buildings dating back to the Roman Empire. Stroll around the stunning botanical backdrop of Jardin de la Fontaine, a historic park with neatly manicured gardens and sculptures, or visit one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world, Amphitheatre of Nîmes, which still holds cultural and musical events to this day. Right next to it sits the city’s archaeological museum, Museum Romanité – but if you prefer modern over old, head to Carré d'Art to admire its abstract, contemporary art.

If you have the time, you should stop by Montpellier. The city is the perfect size to spend a day, with an atmospheric old town with lots of quiet streets to wander around. Grab a drink and get ready for some people watching at the Place de la Comédie, a lively square with shops and restaurants, before going to see the Gothic Cathédrale Saint-Pierre which dates back to the 1300s and is distinguished by its conical towers. More parks, botanical gardens and pretty squares await here, so put on your best walking shoes and get exploring.

Although there is nothing wrong with enjoying all the benefits of city living, those who prefer more serene locations will also find their niche here. Notably, Camargue Regional Natural Park is a fantastic place to organise a hike or walking trip for those wishing to get immersed in nature. Located on the Mediterranean coast, the rich land is home to thousands of bird species, including pink flamingos and it is dominated by salt marshes, wetlands, and various plains.

There are also three towns located in the nature reserve, including Arles, Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône and the Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer - ideal for a wholesome stop when on your trip. Guided tours can also be organised so that visitors can learn more about the local fauna and flora.

For more meanderings in green backdrops, head to Bambous en Provence, a botanical garden with trees and blooming flowers in spring.

  • Wonderful week in France

    on 21/08/2023

Great service - very responsive & helpful. Loved little extra touches like the beach towel they sent us just before the holiday.
Villa is absolutely beautiful! Every little detail has been thought of. Immaculately clean. Amazing kitchen which is well stocked…very helpful things like dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid & detergent provided, salt & pepper, toilet roll for the first day and some wine & local tapenades. Loved the huge kitchen island. Luxurious bathrooms and such comfortable beds. Pool area was great. Pool looked a little small in photos but its standard size & was perfect. Kids spent every day in it. Pool table was also great entertainment. Loads of Sun loungers & deckchairs and a great terrace with huge shady parasols. Great gas BBQ too. Garden was beautiful. Area was lovely - market in St Remy de Provence was fabulous. Local bakery was great and there was a good sized supermarket only 5 mins away which had everything we needed. Owner was very friendly & responsive when we had a couple of little issues which were quickly sorted. Overall probably the best Villa we’ve ever stayed at and we would love to go back.

Such a beautiful villa with everything that we need for a week of relaxation!

  • Beautiful villa!

    on 09/08/2023

The villa is absolutely stunning, I would say even better than the photos. It is equipped with everything you could ever need, the pool is amazing and the location is lovely and quiet and a short drive from Avignon. The owners of the property are so friendly and welcoming, they even went out of their way to drop us at the train station as we struggled to get a taxi. Would recommend this place to anyone and hope to be back one day! Merci Beaucoup.

  • The Villa is beautiful!

  • Splendid location to stay at!

    on 25/06/2023

Maison De Flamant Rose is a really good location to stay at. The house is amazingly well equipped as seen on the pictures. The owners are also very nice people and they prepared a whole brochure of what you could visit.

All the rooms were well prepared, the pool.. everything was amazing!

If you wish to have a good stay in the south of France, and you wish to go the Provence, this is really recommended.

All in all, we went with a group of 8 friends and had an amazing holiday!
