From looming volcanoes and tropical beaches, rugged cliff tops and dynamic patty fields to Bali’s exciting nightlife, however you choose to spend your time in Bali, you’re guaranteed to have one of the world’s most romantic destinations as your very own backdrop. Forget special occasions, you both already deserve this romantic escapade of a lifetime. Aphrodisiac sunsets, paradisaical scenery and tropical weather – Bali is lover’s wonderland. Inherently, there’s more than a fair share of romantic things to do in Bali, so let your love kindle on the island in the most fetching way…

1. Watch a beachside movie at Karma Beach

Beach cinema, Karma Beach

Monday movie nights by the beach under a canopy of stars, we’re swooning already. This hidden beach paradise is set at the foot of a limestone cliff and can only be accessed by a private funicular.

2. Go on a romantic horseback ride with Bali Equestrian Centre

This isn’t your run of the mill equestrian centre, it’s attracted Olympians, show jumpers and celebrities from all around the world. Its international 5-star rating makes it a class-act for professionals and beginners. Saddle up for a 2-hour horseback riding track where you can experience riding along the beach just like in the movies. You’ll pass through villages, rice fields, crossing creeks and passing temples set right by the beach.

3. Wish upon the Great Banyan Tree

Make a wish for everlasting love at the Giant Banyan Tree in the Gesing village in the north of Bali. This 700-year old tree has an incredible 85-foot height and is incredibly well loved by the locals that believe this tree has spirits that inhabit its branches. Rumour has it that whatever wish you make at the tree it will come true! So what will yours be?

4. Take a helicopter ride over Bali with Mason Sky Tours

It’s such a whirlwind experience to look down and see Bali from a bird’s eye view (if you can stomach heights). You and your better half will be in awe as you fly over the spectacular coastline, the river gorges, Mount Batur’s caldera, the picturesque Uluwatu temple, the farms, and limestone cliffs. This is one for the photo album.

5. Sunset dinner at Jimbaran Bay

Holidaymakers enjoying a tropical sunset on Jimbaran Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Bali, Indonesia.

Toes in the sand, cocktail in hand and the most beautiful views overlooking Jimbaran Bay – can someone pinch me? You can choose your dinner from the a la carte menu or a seafood package, where you can pick out fresh fish from the local fisherman.

If you want to take this romantic experience up a notch, book an exclusive table (for about £40). You’ll get a beautifully decorated table for 2, right on the beach, away from the other tables. Dreamy.

6. Enjoy the hidden beach of Gunung Payung in Nusa Dua

There’s nothing more soul destroying than an overcrowded beach. Period. You can escape the herd by heading to Gunung Payung Beach where you can have some private tanning time – solo. The beach is incredibly remote (like we’re talking nobody around), so it’s worth bringing your own water (or Bingtang) and snacks to keep you going throughout the day.

7. Enjoy a sunset dinner cruise from Benoa on a luxury catamaran

There will also be a Batako band that will provide your sweet serenades – they even play songs on request so you can listen to your special song on this cruise. Dinner is also served on board as the sun sets behind you.

8. Enjoy a special meal at Sardine Restaurant in Seminyak overlooking a luscious paddy field

Its white stone wall facade conceals much of the treasure within, comprising an impressive bamboo-beamed dining hall with alfresco platforms overlooking probably one of the last rice paddies in Seminyak. The delightful compound is surrounded by leafy bamboo gardens, tranquil ponds, and quirky Balinese-style garden décor of pristine white and chequered parasols.

The menu is constantly changing, with main ingredients sourced from the morning catch. Naturally, the food is seafood-dominant, from scallops, octopus to well you guessed it sardines. Afterall, why would you go to Sardine for anything but sardines?

9. Visit the Tegalalang Rice TerraceRomantic Things to Do in Bali, visit the Tegalalang rice terrace

The Tegallalang rice terraces alone offers a scenic outlook that spreads down before you and away to the rice paddies on the slopes across the valley.

10. Get involved in a couple’s spa day at Spring Spa

Enjoy their ‘Perfect Pairs’ couple’s massage treatment. Lasting for either an hour or 90 minutes you can lie side by side with your loved one and relax for an indulgent spot of pampering. There’s nothing more relaxing than getting a rub down.
