Perched on a rocky hillside near Kamala Beach in the Cape Amarin Estate, Villa Amanzi is a truly breathtaking modern masterpiece; this modern take on a stilted Thai home offers guests nothing but luxury at every turn. Villa Amanzi’s six bedrooms, a 15-metre pool and exceptional living areas offer a deluxe retreat with spectacular ocean views, ideal for a tranquil holiday with family and friends.
This award-winning architectural gem makes full use of its dramatic tropical setting, with the steep contour of the hill’s rock face incorporated into the design to form a natural wall across the two lower levels. The top-level bedroom wing forms a bridge over the main living area that opens fully to the pool terrace and gardens, erasing any separation from the tropical surrounds and drawing in the sea breezes.
Together with the modern kitchen, dining and barbecue areas, this is a warm, luxuriant space, perfect for entertaining or relaxing. The sublime dining area features a 12-seater bench table and the guest kitchen also offers a more casual breakfast table for eight. As well as the main living area, there is also a fantastic family room with Apple TV, DVD player, pool table, table tennis and games.
The villa’s private chef is on hand to cook breakfast, lunch, dinner from a suggestion menu of Thai cuisine with some Western selections. Guest requests are accommodated as far as possible (including special diets). High-tech lighting and an iPad-controlled sound system shift the mood at the touch of a screen; this villa is the epitome of modern design.
With six luxurious bedrooms, Villa Amanzi sleeps 12 guests comfortably; three of the bedrooms have king-size beds and three have twin beds (convertible to kings). All the bedrooms are luxurious and tranquil escapes, boasting lush ensuite bathrooms and stunning views of the sea and pool. In the lavish master suite, floor-to-ceiling glass doors open to a private wraparound balcony with a private outdoor terrazzo bathtub. What more could guests ask for?
Outside, the villa only gets more impressive. Never was the label ‘infinity pool’ more accurately applied than at Villa Amanzi; in a stunning design feature, the 15-metre pool hangs over the edge of the rocky hillside with the sparkling blue sea lapping the shore below. The sleek pool deck features comfortable and stylish sun beds for guests to lounge around on, and the fantastic BBQ/outdoor dining area found on a stunning sea-view balcony seats 8, perfect for an alfresco meal.
The perfectly manicured gardens feature serene white Buddha statue, tropical trees and plants, giving the entire residence a tranquil and calming vibe. About the surrounding area of Villa Amanzi KamalaFound in the exclusive Cape Amarin estate, Amanzi Kamala is one of the most spectacular villas on the “Millionaires’ Mile” headland between Kamala and Patong beaches with superb sea and sunset views. Just a 10-minute drive north leads to Kamala Beach, a stretch of soft golden sand popular with families, with a growing beach club scene since the arrival of the chic HQ and Café Del Mar hotspots at its northern end.
Aside from casual beachside dining at one of the restaurants that line the sand, Kamala is the perfect spot for some surfing, body boarding, or simply relaxing on the sand. About seven kilometres to the south is Patong Beach, Phuket’s busiest resort town with plenty of water sports, shopping, dining and nightlife choices.
Guests can explore the delights of the Andaman Sea aboard a luxury yacht charter, and sail around Phang Nga Bay and its steep karst islands, with a stop at the floating village of Koh Panyee, or visit the nearby Similan, Raya or Phi Phi islands on a scuba diving or snorkelling day trip that can be easily arranged by the villa manager.
Just a forty-minute drive away from Villa Amanzi is Wat Chalong, the island’s largest Buddhist temple, and the Big Buddha, a 45-metre-high white marble statue set on a hilltop with spectacular 360-degree views over the beaches and lush landscapes of southern Phuket.
Guests can visit the stunning Bang Pae Waterfall and the nearby Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, a Phuket Elephant Sanctuary tour. There are also a number of vibrant and trendy beach clubs nearby; guests can watch the sun go down, cocktail in hand, surrounded by the pulsating energy of one of the island’s beach clubs, at HQ Beach Lounge or Café Del Mar on Kamala Beach, Kudo Beach Club on Patong Beach or Catch Beach Club at the south end of Bang Tao Beach, to name just a few.
Take a cultural tour of Phuket’s rich history and traditional life, learn more about the history behind the restored Sino-Portuguese shops and mansions and sample some of the island’s best local cuisine. There are countless temples and religious monuments to visit in Phuket; those that seek to immerse themselves in the Thai culture will not be disappointed.
Guests can also learn how to make fragrant and spicy Thai cuisine in a cookery class at the nearby Nahmyaa restaurant in Como Point Yamu resort, or try a class with the master of Thai fusion, Chef Tammasak “Noi” Chootong, who has opened a new branch of his celebrated Suay restaurant in nearby Cherng Talay.

Best Suited For: All AgesAmanzi Kamala is a superb escape for families. Children’s facilities, including a baby cot, are available on request or can be hired from a reputable local source.
The villa’s guest relations manager will also have a wealth of information about nearby places of interest and will help arrange transport and make any bookings required. There is no shortage of activities in Phuket; guests are spoilt for choice!
For those that love watersports, windsurfing, wakeboarding, sea kayaking or standup paddling can be easily hired from Kamala beach, as well as nearby Patong, Bang Tao and other beaches around Phuket. For the adrenaline junkies, there is ATV riding, zip line sessions and bungy jumping, as well as beautiful waterfalls to visit and mysterious jungle trails to follow.
Splash Jungle Water Park, located close to Natai Beach, offers various attractions such as a wave pool, water slides and a water play area. There is also a restaurant on-site, as well as a swim-up bar to enjoy a refreshment or two.
