Pollensa is a deeply enriching and inspiring region, making it an ideal place to visit if you are looking to discover the true wonders of Europe. Joan March Gardens are an extensive landscape that was first formed in the late 1980s. These gardens were built in celebration of the life and works of the eldest son of the March family, who were best known for their economic expertise that helped to spur this region into a financial boom. Guests are free to explore this attraction in-depth, allowing them to marvel at the incredible olive and cypress trees, which can often be seen on the town’s traditional coat of arms. Joan March Gardens are based just under 10-minutes away and are open 24 hours a day, making it a very accessible attraction.

One of the most significant attractions within this region is Puig de Maria, a unique religious monument that is based around 10-minutes away from the centre of the region. At the top of a looming 330-metre peak sits an ornate 14th-century monastery, which was once viewed as a beautiful shrine to the Virgin Mary. Despite its long history, this monastery was forced to close in 1564, leaving many citizens heartbroken. Luckily, the monastery was allowed to reopen in 1638 and quickly grew into the prized tourist attraction we see today. Many previous guests have noted that it only takes around 30-minutes to climb to the top of Puig de Maria, making it a relatively easy hike for most travellers.

If you are looking to learn more about the wonders of the prehistoric era, a trip to Alzinaret Caves is a must-do activity. These caves were first discovered in 1927 but are said to date back to 1600 BC. In turn, these structures are teeming with artefacts from the Middle Bronze Age, which guests can observe at their own pace. The British archaeologist who discovered these caves, otherwise known as Wilfred Hemp, is also celebrated throughout this attraction. As such, a cave named Number 7 of Hemp is labelled in his honour. Alzinaret Caves can be found just over 10-minutes away from the centre of Pollensa.

THE REGION

Pollensa, in the north of the island, is an ancient town of attractive narrow streets and an impressive main square, lined with cafés, restaurants and bars, and is just a few kilometres from Port de Pollensa.

The town has several places of interest to visit, including the Roman bridge, signposted ‘Pont Roma’, which is still in use, and the Puig de Pollensa – a small mountain topped by a monastery just outside the town. Here we provide all the information you want to know to make the most of this relaxed yet culturally satisfying inland town.

Pollensa is perfect for children as it is home to a varied selection of fascinating and thought-provoking attractions. Pollensa Museum is filled with alluring pieces of art, including the incredible works of Atilio Boveri. Although it is now recognised as one of the finest institutions in Europe, it was once used as an ordinary storage unit for a collection of ornate Gothic altarpieces. These items became extremely popular over the course of many years and even earned praise at the prestigious Summer Exhibition of Painting back in the 1960s. The museum finally opened its doors to the public in 1975 and quickly became a cultural success. Pollensa Museum is located just a stone’s throw away from the centre of the region and welcomes guests Monday-Friday from 10 am to 2 pm. It should also be mentioned that this museum is free to enter, making it an ideal attraction for those travelling on a budget.

Formentor Lighthouse is a deeply significant attraction that can be found just under an hour away from the centre of Pollensa. This iconic monument was first built in 1863 and was originally designed to guide small fishing boats away from the jagged rocks found at the base of the shore and back to a place of safety. As such, this exemplifies its fundamental legacy within this region. This lighthouse has also been a source of creative inspiration for many literary figures such as Gerardo Diego and Blas de Otero. Thus, guests are encouraged to drive toward the peak of this lighthouse and bask in a wealth of panoramic views as they travel through.

If you are looking to immerse yourself in the vibrant culture found within this region, a trip to Pollensa Market is an ideal way to do so. This market is home to over 300 stalls, all of which present an array of handmade jewellery, bags, and clothes. Therefore, this is a perfect place to visit if you are looking to pick up a few souvenirs to remind you of your trip. In addition, this market is home to a range of fresh produce, allowing guests to purchase a few ingredients to use in their own cooking back at Villa Pollensa Font. Pollensa Market is just a short walk away from the centre of the region and occurs every Sunday from 8 am to 1:30 pm.

  • Exceptional villa for a family holiday!

    on 11/07/2023

We loved our weeks stay - Emma and Sarah were brilliant hosts and the villa was equipped with everything we needed. Very comfy beds, beautiful pool/outdoor space, toys and games for children, and very close to Pollensa old town. Would recommend to anyone!

  • Amazing villa

    on 20/06/2023

Amazing villa. Sarah has been brilliant and very efficient from the initial query onwards. Emma the manager was on hand with a smile and with no delay. All in all a fabulous hols in a beautiful villa equipped with everything and more.

  • Simply beautiful

    on 11/06/2023

Villa Pollensa Font is simply beautiful. It is spacious and tastefully decorated. The villa is equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay here. Emma was there to welcome us into the villa and was on hand with any questions we had during our stay. We hired the local Chefs, recommended in the villa handbook and they were totally fabulous! Will definitely be going back in the future. This is a gem of a place and one we would highly recommend to anyone thinking of renting a stunning home in Mallorca.

  • Villa Pollensa Font

    on 02/06/2023

Amazing villa! Owners really taking care for it! Beautiful villa in a beautiful place!

  • Very modern comfortable villa

    on 27/09/2022

Spectacular setting and very modern comfortable villa. Nestled nicely away at the back of the town it gives you the option to have a sleep easy night or head into town for dinner and drinks.

Lots of things to do inside the villa too if you manage to get a rare rainy few days like us.

  • We had THE BEST time

    on 11/07/2022

We had THE BEST time at Villa Pollensa Font! I couldn’t recommend it more and can’t wait to return one day. The villa is beautiful with everything you could need to enjoy time inside and outside of the villa. It was so lovely to stay in villa where the interiors were so beautiful and well thought out which meant it was a great space for the children to be when it was a bit too hot outside and an enjoyable space to prepare meals etc. A real (luxury) home from home. The pool and surrounding area was fantastic and the kitchen very well equipped. Plenty of space for cars on the driveway and the villa felt very private and secure. We were a group of 6 adults with 4 children (4,2,1 and 6 months) and we were able to walk into Pollensa town with the prams and the 4yr old just about managed it with some shoulder rides! Sarah was so lovely to deal with and super helpful, as were Morgan and Morgan. Thank you! The Rennie’s, Hughes’s and Fox’s

  • Would not hesitate to return one day

    on 29/06/2022

The Villa has everything one could want for a 'home from home' experience, from the tasteful decor, extremely comfortable beds and quality linens, to superbly equipped kitchen, along with high end appliances, vast fridge and freezer space we had everything we needed. There was even a Nespresso coffee machine, for which we took our own capsules, The outside space is a great size and was enjoyed by a mixture of young adults - making full use of the vast array of sports and games on offer, to the more sedate among us, who enjoyed the garden seating and comfortable sun loungers.. The pool size was perfect for a large group, and sufficiently long to get a decent swim in.
The bedrooms all have a private bathroom and we found it hard to pin point the 'master' it was a pleasant surprise to not have a compromise among our guests.
The welcome pack was superb and one of the best I have ever had, we particularly enjoyed the Rose wine and the little touches like fresh flowers in the kitchen and Elemis products in the bathrooms. La Font is a very quiet part of Pollenca, easy walking distance to the old town and we didn't hire a car for the whole week, choosing the local taxis to get us where ever we wanted to go. There is so much to do and see and a week was not long enough!
I cannot recommend the Villa highly enough.

  • Amazing place!
