Overview
Located within the very heart of the honey-stoned Pollensa Old Town, Casa Sion is a wonderful, contemporary, four-bedroom villa. It boasts a magical blend of modern comforts and characterful Mallorcan charms. Throughout, you will discover gorgeous beams, some wooden and some with a slightly industrial feel, together with warm, welcoming exposed stonework. The living space is an open plan by design with huge glass and floor-to-ceiling doors that bring the outside in and brighten this airy space. Each of the bedrooms enjoys its own ensuite bathroom, and the top floor master also offers a spacious private balcony. The ground floor terrace is beautifully designed with a pool, loungers, alfresco dining and a gas barbecue.
Against the backdrop of the dramatic Tramuntana mountains, Pollensa Old Town is an ancient gem offering charming narrow streets lined with beautiful ornate architecture and cosmopolitan bars and restaurants. You will discover modern art galleries mingling with cosy Spanish restaurants and Roman and medieval ruins. A walk up the steep main street, Puig de Pollensa, leads you to an old medieval monastery dating back to 1348 with views across the mountains and to the Mediterranean. The beach at Puerto Pollensa is absolutely stunning, and a wonderful array of watersports await. Nearby, the medieval Old Town of Alcudia is also incredibly atmospheric and romantic. With cobbled streets, ancient ruins, fabulous restaurants, unique shops and a fantastic open-air market, it is a must-visit. Concerts and plays take place in the summer months, entertaining the crowds. The huge stretches of golden sand around the horseshoe-shaped Alcudia Bay are breathtaking. Luxury yachts bob away in the trendy marina while you sample delicious cocktails at the waterside bars.
Casa Sion is built over three levels with the living space on the ground floor, three bedroom suites on the first floor and the heavenly master on the top floor. If you are a group of friends travelling together, you may have to draw straws for the master! In addition, there is a sofa bed in the living room for an additional guest or two.
The living space boasts an excellent, sociable, glossy white kitchen with a breakfast bar and stools. Guests can open a lovely bottle of chilled white wine and keep the chef in your group company while they prepare a feast. The living area offers trendy sofas, cool accent chairs, a contemporary log burner and a giant television. Guests can dine indoors at the contemporary table and chairs or alfresco on the terrace. The living space is characterful, with gorgeous ceiling beams and some exposed stonework.
Doors open to the smart, elegant terrace with its small pool, quality loungers, parasols for shade, alfresco dining and barbecue. It is a great space where you can relax with your holiday books, take a dip and enjoy each other’s company.
A modern staircase leads upstairs to three-bedroom suites. Two are twins, and the third is a spacious double. Like the living space, they enjoy a minimalist feel, modern furnishings and sleek, immaculate shower rooms. The top floor master is wonderful with lots of exposed stonework, ceiling beams, a sumptuous kingsize bed, a generous ensuite bathroom with a bath and shower and access to a fabulous terrace with sun loungers. Location
About the surrounding area of Casa SionCasa Sion enjoys a prestigious position in the heart of the Old Town of Pollensa. It is also within easy reach of Puerto Pollensa, Alcudia, delightful rural countryside where you can visit some excellent wineries and the island’s majestic mountains and famous caves.
Pollensa is a very attractive ancient walled town with stunning architecture, modern art galleries, fabulous boutiques, chic, gastronomic restaurants and a lively market. The main square Placa Major is the place to head to for excellent restaurants, coffee and people-watching. The bustling, popular Sunday market boasts delicious food stands as well as souvenirs and leather goods. The 365 Calvari Steps lead from the Placa Major to the top of the town, where you can enjoy the astonishing views and visit the pretty, intimate Church of Nostra Senyora dels Angels. Light spills through the stained glass windows to illuminate the gorgeous interior. Just off the Placa Major are Museo Dionis Bennassar, an unexpected treasure and the home of a famous local artist. His paintings are displayed around the peaceful and inspirational home. Puerto Pollensa offers a fantastic marina and a beach blessed with dazzling white sand and shallow, warm water.
The ancient monastery Puig de Pollensa sits on top of a mountain close to Pollensa town and also offers outstanding views of Pollensa Bay, the Cap de Formentor and the majestic Tramuntana mountains. You can walk up to the Puig in approximately forty minutes and enjoy some refreshments at the cafe at the top or make use of the picnic tables.
Visitors enjoy taking the trip to Formentor, which is absolutely spectacular and worth the bumpy, winding drive. The much photographed Formentor Lighthouse sits perched on the edge of the peninsular. You will experience breathtaking sea views on the way to Formentor.
Port d’Alcudia boasts a seven-mile-long Blue Flag beach. Alcudia’s picturesque marina is the waterside setting for many trendy bars and restaurants. It is a bustling hub of activity with dolphin-watching tours and glass-bottomed boats frequently taking visitors out on the crystal clear water. Alcudia Old Town is wonderfully atmospheric for an evening out. It is very romantic with narrow cobbled streets, Romeo and Juliet balconies, authentic cafes, unique boutiques, fabulous fine dining and traditional restaurants, vibrant tapas bars and a superb open-air market. Alcudia’s Roman ruins and museum sit just outside the walls and are very interesting. Alcudia Old Town hosts many cultural events, including traditional fiestas and classical music festivals. Visitors can walk around the entire perimeter of the town’s medieval walls, either on the inside on the Cami de Ronde route or on the outside, using what has now become a delightful garden walk. From the top of the walls, you can enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Bay of Pollensa. Alcudia Old Town boasts an incredible history. The Romans brought an end to piracy and built the town though Alcudia was then destroyed in the 6th century. The town returned to greatness under the Moors. The walls you see today were added in the early 14th century under the rule of King Jaume II. Visitors enjoy the fabulous Neo-Gothic Sant Jaume Church and the fantastic Sa Bassa Blanca Museum, which is home to amazing contemporary art and stunning gardens.
There are a number of vineyards close by where you can taste some delicious wines. These include the excellent Bodegas Can Vidalet at Pollensa, Bodega Butxet and the Mortitx winery, hidden off a winding road between Pollensa and Lluc. It is worth navigating the hairpin bends of the Tramuntana mountain range to find it. The Serra de Tramuntana was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2011 in an attempt to protect the unique landscape, customs and heritage. The mountains skirt the length of Mallorca’s northern coast. Whether you choose to drive, hike or cycle, there are countless incredible sights to see, from the Moorish terraced hillsides dropping to the sea in Banyalbufar to the stunning clifftop viewing points such as the Mirador de Ricardo Roca and Mirador De Ses Barques, where you can see the lovely resort of Soller in the distance. The blissfully quiet village of Galilea is Mallorca’s highest village. La Torre de Verger is an ancient watchtower perched on the edge of a cliff near Banyalbufar on the west coast. It is a popular spot to watch the breathtaking sunsets. La Reserva Puig Galatzo is a fabulous nature reserve deep in the forest at the western end of the Tramuntana. You can hike the pathways and enjoy the wildlife, pools and waterfalls. The adventure park has Mallorca’s longest zip-wire as well as rock climbing and Tibetan-style suspension bridges. A trip to the mountain range would not be complete without visiting the beautiful Deia. The village is one of the prettiest in Mallorca, and it has become a bit of a playground for the rich.

THE REGION

The town has several places of interest to visit, including the Roman bridge, signposted ‘Pont Roma’, which is still in use, and the Puig de Pollensa – a small mountain topped by a monastery just outside the town. Here we provide all the information you want to know to make the most of this relaxed yet culturally satisfying inland town.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesCasa Sion is ideal for a family holiday. With four bedrooms, generous living space and a delightful terrace with a pool, it is very popular. Its location is also a big plus as you can walk to restaurants and bars easily.
The villa is within easy reach of some of Mallorca’s favourite beaches. As well as the magnificent Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia beaches, guests also enjoy Cala Agulla, Cala Sant Vicenc, Formentor, and Cala Mesquida, amongst many others. The Bay of Alcudia is Mallorca’s longest stretch of beach, offering a wonderful variety of watersports. Watersports Mallorca is based just east of the Old Town at Playa de Muro, where children can learn to kitesurf or windsurf as well as hire other equipment. It is an enchanting natural cove lying 4km off the road between Pollensa town and the port. There is a sense of seclusion you will not find at the busier tourist resorts. There a few excellent fish restaurants too. There are plenty of watersports on offer as well as sandcastle building and swimming in the lovely azure shallow waters of Puerto Pollensa. You can take your pick of amazing boat rides, from glass-bottom boats to catamarans and speed boats. Dolphin watching is on offer in addition to snorkelling trips and diving lessons. Puerto Pollensa’s challenging floating water park is very popular. Children are given life jackets and swim to the park or use the rope connecting it to the beach.
The Hotel Bellevue Complex at Puerto Alcudia boasts a thrilling go-karting playground called Kartingmania, which is open to all visitors. There is a special track for four to seven-year-olds, and children over seven years old can drive on the main track in customized, gasoline-powered karts.
The Hidropark Waterpark in Alcudia boasts kamikaze slides, a wave pool, and swimming and water playgrounds. There are gentle slides for very young children. There are also inflatable castles, trampolines, giant floating balls and a golf course. It is set in lush landscaped gardens and is a great day out.
Children also love visiting some of Mallorca’s interesting caves. Coves d’Arta’s guided tour takes you through various chambers to the ‘Queen of Pillars’, a huge stalagmite twenty-two metres tall. Coves de Drach, which means Caves of the Dragon, is the most famous of the caves. It has four caves where musicians play classical music from the boats on the underground lake. In the direction of Palma, you will discover the traditional village of Campanet. The Ses Coves de Campanet are a lovely sight.
For some thrilling fun, you can head to La Reserva Galatzo, deep in the Tramuntana mountains, near Puigpunyent. Children adore it. As well as having stunning scenery and much wildlife, visitors enjoy rock climbing, swinging bridges, a zip wire and canyons which you can slide down. There are well-marked paths, and the barbecue area is a great place to finish.
Further away, the tree top adventure park at Santa Ponsa is set in nine hectares of pine forest. There are one hundred and twenty-three platforms built into the trees with three different circuits with bridges, swings, ladders and zip lines for varying abilities. The Pirate circuit is for young children over four years old, and the Explorer and Extreme circuits are more challengings for older children and adults.

Beautiful home
The house is in a perfect location in the winding streets of the Old Town, 5 minutes walk from the square and all the restaurants and shops it has to offer. The house itself os finished to a great standard with good size bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, very nicely decorated. Fully air conditioned and perfect for a week or more stay. The pool is a perfect size, we spent days there and on the terrace. It was impeccably clean. The house has so much to offer and is a credit to its owners. We can't wait to come back.

Large, beautifully restored village house
We really appreciated the house, its freshness, its very good equipment (well studied to be numerous and functional), the 4 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms which allowed us to have our privacy (we were 7 including 3 couples), the patio with the small swimming pool very pleasant to dine outside and to refresh ourselves after a walk. It is a beautiful village house really well restored and decorated with a lot of taste. It is a beautiful village house, very well restored and decorated with great taste. We felt very comfortable there.

Pollensa Stay
Courtyard was a good outdoor space for a townhouse. Downstairs open plan living space was good and well equipped. Heated pool was also a hit.
