Puerto Calero has grown to be a very popular tourist destination due to its much-loved attractions and fascinating history. This region is also well recognised for its wealth of sapphire blue water, making it a perfect location for scuba diving. Organisations such as Active Scuba Divers provide guests with a wide range of courses to choose from, allowing them to embark on an underwater adventure like never before. During every dive, guests will be paired alongside an expertly trained instructor who will guide them through the basic principles of the sport to ensure that they feel safe and secure at all times. Once they feel fully prepared, guests will then submerge themselves underwater and will have the chance to revel in a variety of beautiful marine wildlife. Active Scuba Divers can be found just under 5-minutes away from the centre of Puerto Calero.
 
If you are an avid wine lover, a trip to Bodega Guiguan is a must-do activity. This acclaimed winery uses the richness of Lanzarote’s volcanic soil to help talented winemakers to craft a delectable glass of wine each and every time. This establishment is also known for its use of home-grown produce, making its products incredibly authentic and a key part of Puerto Calero’s culture. Guests are invited to take a guided tour of these expansive grounds and discover more about the inner workings of this archaic industry. They can also indulge in a range of samples, giving them a true taste of this region. Bodega Guiguan is located just over 20-minutes away from the centre of the region.

THE REGION

Puerto Calero is situated on the outskirts of Puerto del Carmen, positioned in a naturally protected enclave on Lanzarote's sheltered south coast, and has earned a reputation as one of the world's top sailing destinations while retaining a distinctive village-type atmosphere.

Puerto Calero is much more than a marina; there is a wide selection of cafés, bars and restaurants along the waterfront, and it's a beautiful place to sit and watch the comings and goings, with the sound of the clink of ropes on the masts, and the school of fish that swim around the marina – eager for any leftover bread from your meal.

As such, this is a fantastic way to observe these majestic animals from a much more personal and intimate perspective. In addition to these activities, Rancho Texas is also decorated in a quirky Wild West theme, complete with staff outfits and events. Thus, this park is able to keep the party going all year round. Rancho Texas can be found just over 10-minutes away.
 
Timanfaya National Park expresses a key element of Puerto Calero’s history, making it a great place to visit if you are looking to uncover more about the nuances of the region. This park was formed due to a series of intense volcanic eruptions that occurred between 1730 and 1736. As such, guests are free to explore over 12,600 acres and marvel at an array of immense volcanic structures. Plus, guests can also visit the on-site restaurant, which is known to cook food using the residual heat from the Earth’s crust. Thus, guests can enjoy a truly unique and unforgettable meal with the whole family. Timanfaya National Park is situated 15-minutes away from Puerto Calero.
 
If you are travelling as a family of book lovers, a trip to Casa Museo Jose Saramago is a real treat. This eclectic museum was once Jose Saramago’s personal home, a place he lived for the last 18 years of his life. In turn, guests can explore a range of memorabilia and artefacts, helping them to learn more about the creative inspirations of this legendary author. This prolific writer is best known for winning the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1998 and for his works Blindness and The Gospel According to Jesus Christ. Casa Museo Jose Saramago is based 10-minutes away from the centre of Puerto Calero and welcomes guests Monday-Friday from 10 am to 1:30 pm.

    Beautiful, fantastic kitchen all mod cons, bed rooms amazing size, technology fab, pool great with huge outdoor space. All on one level 15 min downhill walk to marina, harder coming up but taxi for €3 euros. If I had to moan about something it would be too many dogs barking – but you get used to it – really not all the time.
    Would highly recommend.
    Fantastic gym 5 min on same street.
