There are floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that make the villa feel light and airy and allow easy access to the private garden and pool area. The living area features comfy sofas for relaxation and a large flatscreen smart TV to provide entertainment on cosy evenings or busy mornings while you’re planning your day. There is ample indoor dining space for you and your guests and a well-equipped kitchen bursting with high-end appliances that include an oven and microwave, Nespresso machine, washing machine and dryer, making preparing family meals and taking care of the laundry a breeze.
Villa Paloma has two spacious bedrooms; a double, which enjoys direct access to the garden, and a twin - perfect for the kids. The bedrooms are as stylish and modern as the rest of the villa, with neutral shades and bright, high-end furnishings, and there are two family bathrooms with shower facilities. The configuration of rooms makes Villa Paloma the perfect choice for a couple with children or a couple and two friends who want to golf together. The villa’s grounds are private and well-maintained, with a partly-covered outdoor dining area and a built-in barbecue for alfresco meals. It is the only resort in the Canary Islands to combine two eighteen-hole courses on the same site and is situated just minutes from the towns of Meloneras and Maspalomas and all that they have to offer in the way of beaches, restaurants, bars and leisure facilities.
Nearby Maspalomas is well-known for its vast expanses of coastal dunes, a protected site that covers over a thousand acres. You can explore much of this area on foot, taking in sights such as the beautiful lagoon and lighthouse, but we recommend taking a camel safari for a truly unique and fun way to experience this incredible landscape.
Foodies will be pleased to know that both Maspalomas Meloneras is bursting with fantastic seafront restaurants that offer a tantalising mix of fantastic views and even better food! If seafood is a particular favourite, you’re in for a treat, but you won’t struggle to find other types of cuisine here either! The region has a wide range of delicious cuisine on offer, such as prawns, grilled calamari, paella, steaks, tapas, burgers and pasta dishes - as well as plenty of bars where you can enjoy cocktails and pre-dinner drinks.
If you’re looking to indulge in some retail therapy during your stay in Gran Canaria, you’ll be pleased to know that there are some fantastic outdoor markets to visit in the area, with stalls selling everything from clothing and jewellery to arts, crafts and fresh produce. The aloe vera plant is native to Gran Canaria, so you’ll find a wide array of aloe vera products on sale at the markets here - so be sure to grab some locally-sourced skincare during your visit! If you’re looking for a higher-end shopping experience, we recommend heading to Boulevard Faro, where you’ll find well-known labels like La Perla, Burberry and Tommy Hilfiger. Best Suited For: ChildrenIf you want to enjoy a golfing holiday as a family, Villa Paloma is an ideal choice for those with young children. The villa features a twin room as well as a double - making it ideal for two older children sharing, and for younger children, a cot is available on request. Children staying at the villa are sure to enjoy the private pool, which is easily accessible to them thanks to Roman stairs and a handrail rather than a ladder. Parents should be aware that the pool has no fence or barrier, so the little ones will need to be well supervised when they're playing in the vicinity.
The villa is situated in a residential area overlooking the Salobre Golf Course, a family-friendly resort that offers plenty in the way of leisure activities, as well as restaurants, cafes and bars. Nearby Maspalomas and Meloneras are home to great beaches, cycling and walking routes, and lots of shopping centres and eateries - so guests of all ages will find plenty to enjoy in this up-market and popular area of Gran Canaria.
We recommend a trip to Palmitos Park in Maspalomas with the kids, an interactive zoological and botanical centre that lets guests get up close and personal with exotic birds like parrots, toucans and flamingos. Children of all ages will delight in a walk around the butterfly house before heading to see reptiles such as komodo dragons, caiman and turtles. If cute and furry is more their thing, the park also houses a wide array of cuddly-looking critters, including meerkats, aardvarks and wallabies that the kids will adore! For a truly unique experience, Palmitos Park offers a 'Dolphin Encounters' experience where small groups can enjoy half an hour spent with these majestic creatures. Here you'll learn about their biology and habits in a fun and interactive way and even be able to take some souvenir photographs. The dolphin experience can be booked once you have entered the park rather than in advance, and we recommend reserving your places by 10 am to guarantee you the chance to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Eating out with the kids abroad can sometimes be a worry, but restaurants in Gran Canaria have families in mind, offering a wide range of cuisines to suit all tastes, from seafood and tapas to steaks, burgers, and tapas, pasta and vegetarian dishes. Many of the pubs and restaurants in the nearby towns feature indoor kids' areas or outdoor playgrounds, as well as dedicated children's menus - often with the offer of free dessert or drink!
