A modern, simple, six-bedroom, four-bathroom villa located in the Galicia region of Spain boasting a pool and panoramic sea views. Located just a fifteen-minute walk from the white sands and crystal clear waters of Arneles Beach, this villa has everything you need to relax and unwind.

The villa has been mindfully decorated in keeping with the natural landscape, and flourishes of wood and stone contribute to its minimalist aesthetic. Upon arrival, you’ll make your way into the light and airy living room with a fully-equipped adjoining kitchen. The large windows stream sunlight into the space, and the soft greys and bright whites give a fresh and airy atmosphere. Guests can enjoy locally bought produce in the bright dining room or head out onto the terrace to soak up the sea views under the sun.

For those wanting maximum cosiness (or privacy), the ground floor has a two-bedroom apartment with a fully-equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, a living room with a sofa-bed, and a dining room. It also boasts two double bedrooms, one of them with sea views.

If the weather turns cool at night, simply switch on the underfloor heating before heading to bed. When it comes to picking a bedroom, you’re spoiled for choice! All four bedrooms in the main house are spacious and well-lit, bestowed with modern and comfortable furnishings, and two of them have a sea view. The villa was built with accessibility in mind, adding a lift so guests can travel between the indoor spaces and onto the rooftop terrace, where you can enjoy views of the estuary. Dining al fresco is easy here, and if you’re in the mood to cook outdoors, guests can enjoy a rooftop barbecue complete with an electric grill and outdoor dining area.

The highlight of the outside area is undoubtedly the private blue-tiled pool which perfectly complements the lush green surroundings. Sun worshippers will be in their element here, and guests love to spend hours topping up their tans underneath the seemingly endless bright blue sky. You’ll be surrounded by native countryside, so your time outdoors is guaranteed to be peaceful, private, and rejuvenating.

What you should know…

  • The private pool is unfenced and while younger kiddies love to make a splash in there, they should stay supervised
  • The property is spacious, but as there are six bedrooms and four bathrooms, some guests will be sharing a bathroom
  • We recommend renting a car to explore the surrounding area. Please be aware that the roads leading to this villa are narrow and windy so may be difficult in a larger vehicle. Please get in touch, for further information

Situated in Rías Baixas (or ‘lower estuary’), Aldán is a pristine inlet known by locals as the 'Galician Caribbean', and for good reason! The area is famous for its white sands and blue sea and shares the water with four beautiful estuaries: Ría de Muros e Noia, Arousa, Pontevedra and Vigo. Between them, they hold more than 20 coves of fine white sand beaches, many of which are deserted and only accessible by boat. The estuaries are known for their calm waters, making them the perfect spot for relaxing on the beach and exploring the hidden coves.

The Aldán inlet is also perfect for hiking. Take a walk to Cabo Udra, a 13-kilometre circular route in a protected natural area where bottlenose dolphins and porpoises are quite frequently seen in the waters.

The region of Galicia is famous for its history, seafood and wild beaches. It’s particularly well known for its shellfish pulled straight from the sea: think king prawns, king scallops, mussels, crabs and lobsters straight into signature Galician dishes like the Pulpo a la Feira (Octopus cooked with potatoes and seasoned with paprika), Arroz con Marisco (Galician paella) and Mariscada (Seafood platter). Wine is also a staple of the cuisine here and Rías Baixas boasts beautiful wineries which produce some of the world’s finest wines. Romanesque churches and chapels dot the same landscapes as the traditional wineries and the region perfectly combines gastronomy and culture with the historical sights of Galician monasticism.

A forty-minute drive away is Pontevedra which prides itself on tradition and hospitality. The city has plenty of historic buildings, churches, monuments, attractive plazas and a large shopping district. The old town begins to really thrive at night with lively bars creating a vibrant atmosphere that continues well into the early hours.

The jewel in the crown of this region is undoubtedly the Cíes Islands, an archipelago comprised of three unspoiled islands: Monte Agudo, O Faro and San Martiño, known for their stunning bays, crystal waters, lush flora, and unique wildlife. The islands are a protected environment and there are four walking trails, all boasting spectacular views and even a bird observatory!

About the Region & Getting There

About Galicia

Like many parts of Spain, Galicia has its very own identity that has remained intact through its regional dialect and distinguishing culture. Although Galicia is recognised for its holy traditions, we urge budding tourists to also consider its astonishing green countryside & rivers and its UNESCO World Heritage sites. Occasionally you may even hear the gentle tootling of bagpipes, known locally as the Galician Gaita, along this northern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.

You're likely to fly into Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of Galicia and is probably best known for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its route. Many of the travellers embark on this journey by foot and tend to be mesmerised by this fine city at the end of their trek. Casco Viejo, or the Old Town, is a good place to end or even start your holiday. This area of the city is blessed with markets, restaurants, bars and buildings from a bygone era. After exhausting yourself in the busyness of the city, take a day trip to Praia de Rodas, on the gorgeous Cíes Islands. These small islands, accessible by boat from Vigo, Baiona, or Cangas, have been noted as having some of the best beaches in the world. It has to be seen to be believed!

Galicia is divided into four key regions: A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and our favourite – Pontevedra. A Galician proverb states that 'Pontevedra gives water to travellers'. We firmly believe this to be true, as this particular part of Galicia has everything a traveller could need for an unforgettable experience and it almost feels like this city is constantly giving back. Whilst you holiday in Pontevedra you will realise that days are structured around mealtime. And why wouldn't they be? With some of the best seafood you will experience in Spain and the noteworthy Albariño wine, you may notice your jeans feeling a little tighter toward the end of your holiday. You will be glad to know that your waistline need not be a cause for concern though! Pontevedra is blessed with some of the best hiking trails, medieval monasteries, estuaries, and valleys within Spain. Don't forget about the coastline either! Rarely you will you find so many empty beaches, so make the most of this privacy and just embrace the nature around you.

Galicia is still an unspoilt part of the world. It has everything a diverse group of friends & family need to have a glorious adventure.

Getting There

Galicia is served by either Santiago de Compostela Airport, A Coruña Airport, or Vigo Airport. Various train lines connect the main cities and towns of Galicia to other destinations in Northern and Central Spain (and even Portugal). There are also vairous coach routes that you can take throughout the region and to other cities in Spain.

From the UK:
Direct flights are available from London with easyJet, Ryanair, Vueling, and many others. Although, travellers should be aware that Vigo Airport only receives domestic flights, so a stopover is needed if you wish to travel to this airport. Chartered flights are also available from several other UK airports.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Kids will love a trip to the Cíes Islands. These real-life treasure islands reportedly hold buried treasure, and according to legend, Francis Drake used to hide out in the secluded coves of the archipelago. With all this talk of pirate past, it’s not hard to get the imagination of the little ones excited about this rugged piece of beauty. Kids can go snorkelling and kayaking in the clean, clear waters of the archipelago, which are home to more than 100 species of marine life! There’s also a campsite which organises free children’s activities in the morning and evening. Here they can make new friends in the play area, have fun playing organised games, or get crafty at workshops.

Rías Baixas is famous for its tranquil beaches, and the area also has reputable horse riding schools which will take enthusiastic riders to see the stunning landscapes of the region. A fifty-minute drive will bring you to the area of Ribeira Sacra, where you can take an excursion on horseback through the myriad colours that make up the natural beauty, culminating in views overlooking the rivers.

For a day out, Costa da Morte is a ninety-minute drive away where the kids can continue the buccaneering fantasy. This rocky coastline is stunning but treacherous and has a history of shipwrecks. However, the beaches are calm and safe, making them perfect for families with children. The coastline is dotted with charming fishing villages, with two favourites being Laxe and Finisterre. Laxe has a lovely walk to the lighthouse and Finisterre got its name from the ancient Romans, who believed it to be the “End of the Earth”.

A fifty-minute drive will take you to Baiona, one of Spain’s most memorable coastal towns with a yacht club. Monte Real Yacht Club holds sailing courses and a summer sailing school, where kids can head out onto the harbour's blue waters for a few hours with experienced staffers. For the committed junior sailors, take advantage of the club’s weekly sailing course for children between seven and sixteen years old, including a specialised trainer and all the necessary equipment.

Reviews

  • Beautiful house!

    on 23/08/2022

Very beautiful, well equipped and comfortable.

  • Unforgettable days!

    on 11/08/2022

Beautiful and spectacular house with pool, wonderful views of the Aldan estuary, equipped with a modern home automation system. The house is very spacious and comfortable since all interior spaces are connected by elevator. In the garden there is a saline pool that has been the delight for our children and the adult. Another of its advantages is that you can have a home delivery service, in case you don't want to go to a restaurant every day or cook, especially when you go with children, as has been our case, Marta prepares whatever you want and, very good! What can we say about our host, Rocío, affable and charming. We have greatly enjoyed this great house, spending some great and unforgettable days, as well as the Galician Caribbean, as the locals define it. If one day we decide to return to this spectacular place, we will not hesitate to be back here.

  • We had a great few days in this wonderful villa!

    on 23/06/2022

Even thought the weather wasn't great to us, we had a great few days in this wonderful villa! It was well equipped and looked after, with lots of light throughout, making it easy to enjoy the the countryside and the beach at the same time. It is made up well for a large family or for a good group of friends, with independent spaces for different needs. The windows and doors are perfectly sealed. All in all, this is a great villa to spend the summer months in, and also the winter ones!
