Location
About the surrounding area of San Xenxo VillaTucked in the rolling countryside in the far north-west of Spain, San Xenxo Villa is ideally placed to enjoy the tranquil setting and natural beauty of rural Galicia!
Just 15 minutes away, Pontevedra is a deeply historical and beautiful city which welcomes visitors to enjoy incredible sightseeing, a myriad of festivals throughout the year and tons of fabulous nearby beaches, including Placeres, Pontesampaio, Mogor, Aguete, Portocelo and Cabeceira. The charming squares and historic, often religious architecture throughout the city including a mixture of baroque, neoclassical and medieval churches and ruins as well as incredible public squares which are a vibrant community hub! With a fully pedestrianised 300,000 square meter medieval centre, you can enjoy carefree wandering in Spain’s most accessible city!
Local delights include wine served in a bowl in many of the smaller pubs on the backstreets, affordable octopus and all kids of treats including ‘queixo galego’ and ‘pan galego’ (local bread and cheeses) from the regular farmers' market by the river. Within the city, the Museo Provincial de Pontevedra is considered to be one of the finest historical/archaeological museums in Spain, while the Rias Bajas (Rias Baixas) coastal region has flourishing coastlines, mountains, rivers, lakes and estuaries that ooze incredible natural beauty.
About 45 minutes south you’ll reach the Portuguese border and the enchanting region of Minho, with a fascinating history and sublime natural landscape! It is a fantastic, largely rural region on the northernmost Atlantic tip of Portugal and shares many attributes with Galicia. Minho is perhaps most famous as the home of the Vinho Verde, a crisp, dry white wine (although as the name suggests, it is in fact green!) best enjoyed with a local fish dish.
With a breath-taking coastline that meets the powerful Atlantic Ocean, Galicia is a paradise for beach holidays and nature lovers, as well as the keen surfer, or indeed even those looking to try it for the first time, with plenty of surfing schools all along the calmer sections of the coast.

About the Region & Getting There
About Galicia
Like many parts of Spain, Galicia has its very own identity that has remained intact through its regional dialect and distinguishing culture. Although Galicia is recognised for its holy traditions, we urge budding tourists to also consider its astonishing green countryside & rivers and its UNESCO World Heritage sites. Occasionally you may even hear the gentle tootling of bagpipes, known locally as the Galician Gaita, along this northern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.
You're likely to fly into Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of Galicia and is probably best known for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its route. Many of the travellers embark on this journey by foot and tend to be mesmerised by this fine city at the end of their trek. Casco Viejo, or the Old Town, is a good place to end or even start your holiday. This area of the city is blessed with markets, restaurants, bars and buildings from a bygone era. After exhausting yourself in the busyness of the city, take a day trip to Praia de Rodas, on the gorgeous Cíes Islands. These small islands, accessible by boat from Vigo, Baiona, or Cangas, have been noted as having some of the best beaches in the world. It has to be seen to be believed!
Galicia is divided into four key regions: A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and our favourite – Pontevedra. A Galician proverb states that 'Pontevedra gives water to travellers'. We firmly believe this to be true, as this particular part of Galicia has everything a traveller could need for an unforgettable experience and it almost feels like this city is constantly giving back. Whilst you holiday in Pontevedra you will realise that days are structured around mealtime. And why wouldn't they be? With some of the best seafood you will experience in Spain and the noteworthy Albariño wine, you may notice your jeans feeling a little tighter toward the end of your holiday. You will be glad to know that your waistline need not be a cause for concern though! Pontevedra is blessed with some of the best hiking trails, medieval monasteries, estuaries, and valleys within Spain. Don't forget about the coastline either! Rarely you will you find so many empty beaches, so make the most of this privacy and just embrace the nature around you.
Galicia is still an unspoilt part of the world. It has everything a diverse group of friends & family need to have a glorious adventure.
Getting There
Galicia is served by either Santiago de Compostela Airport, A Coruña Airport, or Vigo Airport. Various train lines connect the main cities and towns of Galicia to other destinations in Northern and Central Spain (and even Portugal). There are also vairous coach routes that you can take throughout the region and to other cities in Spain.
From the UK:
Direct flights are available from London with easyJet, Ryanair, Vueling, and many others. Although, travellers should be aware that Vigo Airport only receives domestic flights, so a stopover is needed if you wish to travel to this airport. Chartered flights are also available from several other UK airports.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesKids will adore a stay in San Xenxo Villa with its immense garden and huge private pool for the whole family to gather in!
With three independent bedrooms, each with an ensuite and direct access to the patio or garden, everyone can enjoy total independence! And what’s more, with a child-safe swimming pool, the kids will be safe in their own designated pool, leaving you to enjoy the main pool care-free whilst keeping an eye on them.
With pool fencing you can be sure the kids are safe as you kick back in the warm glow of the Iberian sun. In the surrounding landscape you will find endless opportunities for an active day out, while the location near to some of the best beach areas of the Atlantic coast ensures you can enjoy a traditional family day trip to the beach within minutes!
The local area perfectly lends itself to exploration – with natural parks aplenty, rolling landscapes that will capture the imagination of kids of all ages, and of course the fabulous beach not too far away!

Fantastic Holiday!
Beautiful villa in a beautiful setting. Local beaches and restaurants were amazing. Big thank you to Frans for making sure we were settled.
-
Lovely owner
Very nice villa and gardens. Didn’t realise it had a separate pool kitchen and BBQ. Fran the owner is nice and we loved our stay. Good service from Galicia holidays who answered all our questions and were always quick to reply.

Charming!
The house and garden were charming - very comfortable, well presented and equipped. The pool was also much enjoyed. There was a very generous amount of food left for us as well as bits and pieces needed to make life easy. Wifi was excellent. Frank was very helpful and friendly. The only disappointment was that the living room in the main house was a bit small, but there was a large room in the barbecue house where we sat and ate. The only other drawback was the local dogs that used to bark.

Lovely villa
Lovely villa in beautiful grounds, with amazing views over the estuary.

What else do you need?
We had a lovely time in Galicia, and we're more than happy to provide feedback for the villa, which we became very fond of. It's in a lovely position surrounded by the vineyards, with fantastic views down to the bay, and it's close to the localfacilities (supermarket etc). We loved the garden and the pool - although the pool was a little cold! - and the historic feel of the house. The upstairs balconies are lovely and the bathrooms very well appointed. Everything was extremely clean. We didn't use the barbeque area and kitchen by the pool, but I can imagine that would be very nice in summer. The children loved the enclosed garden and although they're all good swimmers, the fact that the pool was fenced gave us peace of mind. We'll certainly be back if we return to Galicia, and would also like to thank you for being so helpful and efficient.
Don't miss out! Reserve now and get a full refund if you change your mind within 48hrs.
