Book Now & Grow Green: 3 Trees Planted with Every Booking!

Casa El Bravo was once a farmhouse that has been converted into a charming holiday villa by the family. Boasting a gorgeous saltwater pool, incredible views and endless garden space, this villa has something for everyone.

With six ensuite bedrooms, this villa is perfect for groups of friends of families travelling together. The walls are made from heritage stone and retains its original charm. The private pool has fantastic views as you swim - take a refreshing dip to cool down from the Galician sunshine. A lush lawn stretches all the way to the pool, perfect for sunbathing or relaxing on. The villa is pet-friendly.

There are countless dining and relaxing spaces all around the property, and a special area surrounded by an ancient stone wall, nicknamed the 'Lovers' Garden Hideaway.' Here, guests can enjoy a stunning view of the nearby villages, mountains and countryside. At night, the villages are illuminated and on a clear night, the moon is reflected in the calm sea - so ambient!

The six bedrooms are all on the upper floor, while two of them have their own separate entrance. Guests enjoy direct access to a sun terrace, furnished with seating and an invigorating fish pond and water fountain - it's the perfect space to relax and watch the sunrise. The bedrooms are decorated in neutral tones with lots of light and vintage art on the walls. Dusky pink or yellow bedspreads are used to add a splash of colour. Some of the beds have statement wood or twisted iron bedframes.

Inside, the owners have decorated the space tastefully with historical pieces inherited from previous generations of the family. The result is a rustic-chic aesthetic, with beautiful exposed stone walls, lots of wooden furniture and superb attention to detail. In the living room, there is a cosy brown corner sofa and an old-fashioned fireplace.

The kitchen is fully equipped and more modern than other rooms in the house, including an oven, coffee maker and glossy granite worktops. There is also a traditional barbecue in an outdoor kitchen space - choose one of the many dining areas outside or eat indoors around a formal dining table.

Beautifully placed within a village called Vilaboa, this villa's rural setting is truly a part of its charm. With coastal views all around and soaring mountains, the villa is just 2km from the town and 1km from restaurants and shops. The villa is also a short drive from Pontevedra, a beautiful town full of historical sights and fascinating architecture. It is also close to Vigo, a vibrant, youthful city. Nearby, the Casa dos Druids pub is highly recommended.

The closest beach to the villa is Areeiro, which has a promenade and dark golden sand. The waves are calmer than other beaches in the area - take a stroll along the beach and soak up the atmosphere. Salinas de Ulio is nearby, which is a walkway along the coast. There are lots of urban beaches around Vigo with white sand and water that is great for surfing.

To experience a lively Galician city, take a day trip to youthful, buzzing Vigo. You can see incredible 360-degree views of the city from the Castro Fortress, which was built in the 17th century to protect Vigo from intruders. Vigo is famous for fresh seafood, thanks to its busy fish market and harbour. Oysters are a speciality and caught in the local Estuary - head to the street known by locals as Rua de las Ostras to sample some.

For some dazzling white sand beaches with crystalline water, take a trip to the Cies islands. Part of Galicia National Park, the islands of Monteagudo, Faro and San Marino are only accessible by ferry. Advance booking is recommended, as only a limited number of people can visit the islands each day for conservation reasons. The most famous beach is Rodas, but there are several other postcard-worthy shorelines to explore. Guests can also go hiking and camp overnight on the islands.

In Pontevedra, there is a beautifully-preserved Old Town with lots of interesting monuments, like the Basilica Maria that dates back to the 16th century and Capela da Virxe Peregrina, which is shaped like a scallop shell. Take a wander around the historic squares, stopping at pavement cafes for some people-watching. You can also walk by the River Lérez, which runs through the pedestrian-only town. In the summer months, there are lots of festivals in Pontevedra, so keep an eye out online.

About the Region & Getting There

About Galicia

Like many parts of Spain, Galicia has its very own identity that has remained intact through its regional dialect and distinguishing culture. Although Galicia is recognised for its holy traditions, we urge budding tourists to also consider its astonishing green countryside & rivers and its UNESCO World Heritage sites. Occasionally you may even hear the gentle tootling of bagpipes, known locally as the Galician Gaita, along this northern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.

You're likely to fly into Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of Galicia and is probably best known for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its route. Many of the travellers embark on this journey by foot and tend to be mesmerised by this fine city at the end of their trek. Casco Viejo, or the Old Town, is a good place to end or even start your holiday. This area of the city is blessed with markets, restaurants, bars and buildings from a bygone era. After exhausting yourself in the busyness of the city, take a day trip to Praia de Rodas, on the gorgeous Cíes Islands. These small islands, accessible by boat from Vigo, Baiona, or Cangas, have been noted as having some of the best beaches in the world. It has to be seen to be believed!

Galicia is divided into four key regions: A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and our favourite – Pontevedra. A Galician proverb states that 'Pontevedra gives water to travellers'. We firmly believe this to be true, as this particular part of Galicia has everything a traveller could need for an unforgettable experience and it almost feels like this city is constantly giving back. Whilst you holiday in Pontevedra you will realise that days are structured around mealtime. And why wouldn't they be? With some of the best seafood you will experience in Spain and the noteworthy Albariño wine, you may notice your jeans feeling a little tighter toward the end of your holiday. You will be glad to know that your waistline need not be a cause for concern though! Pontevedra is blessed with some of the best hiking trails, medieval monasteries, estuaries, and valleys within Spain. Don't forget about the coastline either! Rarely you will you find so many empty beaches, so make the most of this privacy and just embrace the nature around you.

Galicia is still an unspoilt part of the world. It has everything a diverse group of friends & family need to have a glorious adventure.

Getting There

Galicia is served by either Santiago de Compostela Airport, A Coruña Airport, or Vigo Airport. Various train lines connect the main cities and towns of Galicia to other destinations in Northern and Central Spain. Hop on and enjoy the view from your comfy seat; there's even a Galician Tourist Train pass! This discounted rail pass gives you access to various rail routes created by the Galician Regional Government and based on key elements of the region. Follow the Lighthouse Route along the northern coastline and stop to admire the lighthouses and gorgeous sea views, or hop on and follow one of the Ribeira Sacra Wine Routes to visit the lovely towns and wineries where acclaimed Galician wines are made and enjoyed. Check out the government website to grab your pass and plan your trip!

From the UK:
Direct flights are available from London with easyJet, Ryanair, Vueling, and many others. Although, travellers should be aware that Vigo Airport only receives domestic flights, so a stopover is needed if you wish to travel to this airport. Chartered flights are also available from several other UK airports.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

This villa is an inspiring and welcoming space for children to enjoy their holiday, from the relaxed farmhouse setting to the gorgeous pool where they can swim and play to their heart's content. The garden is big enough for them to run around freely within the confines of the villa.

For many kids, it's all about the beach days. Areeiro beach is family-friendly and quiet - it would suit those looking for a calmer beach. They'll have a great time walking along the dark golden sand and enjoying the sunshine. For true paradise beaches, head to the Cies islands, where you will find lush white sand and dazzling blue water. Alternatively, some of the beaches in Vigo suit families well, such as O Vao.

In Vigo, kids can visit the Naturnova, an environmental education centre focused around Earth, space and the environment. It explores the relationship between humans and the natural world and explores how to be more eco-conscious. Vigo itself is well-suited to older children and teenagers who can go street art spotting and enjoy the buzz of the city. There are also plenty of urban beaches that kids will adore, and the park where Castro Fortress is has a great children's playground.

Pontevedra is great for a stroll around the Old Town, imagining what life was like in the days of the Romans. The city is completely free of cars, giving it a peaceful vibe for kids to enjoy. Keep an eye out for the summer festivals, as kids will have a blast being part of the local celebrations.

Kids will have a great time visiting the Ecoparque Marín for adventures through the treetops. It's just a short drive from the villa. Children of all ages can try out 6 circuits of varying heights and difficulty, including zip lines and over 70 games. Perfect for mini thrillseekers! For a more relaxed experience, kids can also go horseback riding around the park, which has a lovely view over Pontavedra.

  • Amazing Holiday!

    on 06/08/2023

We had a great time at Casa El Bravo. Plenty of room in the bedrooms and places to hang out such as near the swimming pool, at the patio or terrace. The WiFi works really well at certain places in the house, but is not as good in all the bedrooms. Westayed with a group of 9 and there were plenty of plates, glasses, cutlery and pans big enough to cook for a larger group. The owner is really nice and helpful and came regularly to clean the pool, do some maintenance in the garden or to pick up the trash. The area is beautiful, but the views from the main house are not as nice as the view from the pool with its terrace. It was fun to spend time in a house that seemed to be authentic to the area. The communication with Galicia Holiday as well as with the owner was excellent. The only thing that was a bit disappointing were the amount of flies, but it seemed like the owner worked hard to keep the nuisance to a minimum.

  • Would Love to Return!

    on 15/05/2019

We had an Amazing Stay at Casa El Bravo. Paula and Jacobo (the hosts) were incredibly kind and met us at the house when we arrived even though we were late! They stayed for quite some time and showed us the house and how to use oven, washer/dryeretc. They also had a wonderful almond cake, some muffins and fruit waiting for us. Not only that but they also helped us with suggestions on grocery stores, directions to Pontevedra town center and more. They even told us how to get to some beautiful trails literally about 1/4mile from the house which run along the river. Along this trail are some ruins that are so pretty that when we went to go see them there was a couple getting wedding shots done there. The house was clean and well appointed with every kitchen gadget we needed. A large fridge by European standards was a huge plus. The house is decorated with many antiques and interesting furniture pieces. The yard is immaculate with a detached BBQ area that has a separate refrigerator and bathroom. The pool was immaculately and clean. Finally the view from the pool area was amazing. We are seriously considering returning with more family to explore the area more.

  • Striking

    on 22/07/2016

This was our first visit to Galicia. The house was a great place for our two families groups to stay. It has a lot of character, is well equipped and ideally located for a lazy day doing nothing, day trips to the rias, or a night out in Pontevdera. Will also give a big thumbs up to the local pub Casa dos Druids. Good welcome there and good tapas. Weather was tip top and the scenery beautiful. Some good experiences eating out; go for the seafood! We have had some good holidays but this one is pretty much up there at the top of the pile. One final point, your company has provided a very good level of service.
