Why visit Lisbon?

Lisbon is one of Europe’s most captivating capitals, known for its distinctive neighbourhoods, rich history and laid-back atmosphere. The city’s historic quarters, including Alfama and Mouraria, reveal narrow streets, traditional Fado music and viewpoints that open out across terracotta rooftops and the river beyond.

Food plays a central role in Lisbon life, from freshly baked pastéis de nata to seafood restaurants serving grilled fish and local specialities. Along the waterfront, Belém offers iconic landmarks such as the Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower, while the LX Factory and newer districts bring a creative, contemporary edge.

Beyond the city, the Lisbon Coast offers easy escapes to beaches, palaces and natural parks, making Lisbon an ideal base for combining culture with time by the sea.

Watching the light change across the city at sunset – from one of Lisbon’s many miradouros, the rooftops glow as the river reflects the last of the day.
