Perched high in the hills of Loule, overlooking the breathtaking landscapes and coastline of the Algarve, Casa Montinho is a stunning 9-bedroom fusion of tradition and contemporary opulence accommodating up to 18 guests.

Once a farmhouse, this lovingly restored villa still boasts the traditional high, vaulted-wooden ceilings. This feature, combined with large, panoramic windows inviting in floods of natural light, ensures a warm and airy ambience awaits guests. The spacious living room boasts a large L-shaped sofa, TV, chic seating area, decorative fireplace, and an expansive dining table seating 18.

Adjacent to this is an expansive and fully equipped kitchen. Complete with the full range of modern appliances and ample counterspace including a generous kitchen island, the kitchen is a haven for culinary enthusiasts whether you’re tossing together a Summer Salad or preparing a holiday feast for family and friends.

The villa’s seven bedrooms and two separate apartments are spread across the villa. Each room is tastefully designed, featuring a harmonious blend of modern amenities and Portuguese charm. Three bedrooms feature king-sized beds, two feature queen-size beds, and two include twin single beds that can be converted to kings. Each room also boasts its own sitting area, its own outdoor terrace, and ensuite bathrooms with walk-in showers. The last two bedrooms can be found in separate 1-bedroom apartments which boast king-sized beds, a living room with sofa, dining room with four seats, a kitchenette, and even a jacuzzi on the outdoor patio.

The villa seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor living, with sprawling terraces overlooking the azure pool and lush gardens, creating a seamless connection with nature. From the grand al fresco dining setting and plush seating area, stairs lead down to the saltwater infinity pool surrounded by sun loungers and Bali beds.

Beautiful Albufeira (30 minute drive) is one of the most popular seasid resort towns in the Algarve. The Old Town with its fascinating history and Moorish-inspired architecture is a certainly worth checking out, especially the square known as Largo Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco. The square and its surrounding streets are brimming with restaurants, cafes, bars, and independent shops. Something fun to check out is the Albufeira Tunnel, which connects the Old town to the main beach.

From the Old Town there are two other interesting sights, including the Old Fisherman’s neighbourhood overlooking the sea at Praia Pescadores, and the beach at Peneco, which can be reached for an impressive glass elevator. Albufeira is also happy to oblige those who are looking for a taste of local nightlife. A street lined with restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, and known as The Strip, is brimming with bright neon lights and excitement into the early hours of the morning.

The various beaches of Albufeira, including Praia do Tunel, Praia do Peneco, Praia Pescadores, and Praia dos Alemaes (where the villa is located), may all bear different names but are actually all connected in one giant, white-sand beach ideal for swimming and long walks by the sea.

One of the best things to do anywhere along the Algarve coastline is a scenic boat tour. There’s a variety of tours, from sightseeing ventures to see the stunning coastal cliffs and caves (with the famous Benagil Cave as the sure highlight). But there are also dolphin watching tours and water sports adventures such as parasailing, jet skiing, kayaking or paddle boarding.

THE REGION

Vilamoura has been a glamorous town ever since Roman time. Its rich history is still palpable as you walk its streets, coming upon Roman Baths and ancient murals all around town. These days, Vilamoura is still a high-class destination although it has certainly kept up with the times. Yachts dock at the large marina and travellers galavant the seaside strip hopping between bars, restaurants and the dazzling casino.

The local championship courses naturally attract a crowd of golf enthusiasts as well, and there is a large selection of other sports to enjoy in the area (including those best played out in the water). There is certainly no need to ever be bored in Vilamoura, but if it’s ultimate relaxation you’re after you won’t be disappointed. The town is alluringly close to Praia da Marina and Praia de Falesia, where the golden sand and hot Mediterranean sun is just about never-ending.

In the nearby town of Loulé (15-minute drive) there’s a skatepark, mini-golf course, public swimming pool, and other outdoor opportunities for the kids to get exercise and entertainment at the same time. Further toward the coast you’ll find the Family Golf Park (25-minute drive), a fun mini-golf course for the whole family to enjoy.

The Albufeira Marina, located just outside the city centre, is a lively place full of colourful lego-style houses, restaurants, and cafes, but it is also an entertainment hub for kids, boasting a bowling alley, indoor carting track, games arcades and a variety of other activities. Here you can also find the diving centre.

But if scuba diving isn’t your kids’ idea of fun, how about water sports or a boat tour? There’s a plethora of tours on offer from dolphin watching, to sightseeing tours that explore the coastlines stunning cliffs and caves (including the must see Benagil Cave!). Not to mention opportunities to parasail, jet ski, paddle board, kayak and snorkel.

If a more curated water-based experience is desired, fear not, there are two fantastic water parks close at hand, including Slide & Splash (35-minute drive) and Aquashow Waterpark (15-minute drive), the latter being the largest in the region.

Security deposit €5000 charged to client’s credit card before arrival and refunded two weeks after departure, subject to full inspection.

End of stay cleaning included? Yes. However, guests are required to leave the accommodation clean, tidy and in the same condition as on their arrival. Any extra cleaning, laundry, maintenance and/or rubbish disposal required will be charged against the security deposit.
Internet access? Yes, included in the rental cost.
Changeover day Saturday during May to October. Flexible during other periods.
Minimum stay 7 nights. All other durations upon request.
Pets welcome? Not permitted.
Smoking Allowed? Smoking and vaping not permitted.
Pool heating charge? Not available.

Insurance Guests are required to be in possession of a valid insurance policy, which covers them for cancellations, loss of personal belongings, personal liability and any accidental damage caused during their stay.

Linen and towels are always changed mid-week.
Once a week, a member of staff will tend to the pool and the gardens.
