Estoi Vistas certainly lives up to its name! This fantastic villa sits at the end of an impressive 150 metre long driveway, lined by over one hundred and thirty towering cypress trees in a sub-tropical garden full of colour, exotic mature plants, palms, bougainvilleas, fruit trees and yet more cypress trees. The countryside and distant sea views from its terraces are absolutely sensational. Guests enjoy the ever-changing views of the Atlantic Ocean and the twinkling lights of Faro once the sun has gone down. Estoi Vistas is a fifty year old, colonial-style luxury villa which is built all on one level within a spectacular, much loved garden. You will arrive at the villa in no time at all as it is situated just ten minutes north of Faro and five minutes from the historic town of Estoi, nestled amongst fields full of olive and almond trees. Many of the Algarve’s sensational sandy beaches are just twenty or twenty five minutes drive away.

Estoi is a wonderful location boasting its Milreu Roman ruins and one of the Algarve’s finest 19th century neo-Rococo styled palaces, the pink painted Palacio de Estoi, which is now a hotel. Guests enjoy trips into Faro Old Town or to pretty villages such as Almancil, Loule, Tavira and the fishing town of Olhao. Golf fans are in for treat with amazing, world class golf courses nearby. Guests can enjoy gastronomic feasts and superb entertainment in Vilamoura. Estoi is also within very easy reach of the sensational Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, a stunning natural park of sandbanks, barrier islands, salt marshes and lagoons. The reserve stretches 60km along the Algarve coast from Faro and the fishing town of Olhao to Tavira and beyond.

Estoi Vistas boasts five stunning bedrooms, four bathrooms and fabulous living spaces. The villa has been stylishly renovated, offering superbly comfortable accommodation decorated with a slight ‘Moorish’ touch. Under a very high, attractive, beamed ceiling, the main living space is open plan in design and full of exquisite furnishings. One wall boasts three sets of gorgeous, trendy, black framed doors drowning the space in natural light and offering access and views of the terrace and garden. The dining area enjoys beautifully upholstered chairs and a traditional wooden table with statement chandeliers above. The outlook is of the pool and garden. The living space boasts a lavish corner sofa and other comfy chairs, a feature fireplace, satellite television and a Sonos sound system. The generous galley kitchen offers outstanding appliances including a dishwasher, a microwave and a Delonghi bean to cup espresso and cappuccino machine. The kitchen has been designed with polished cement worktops and gorgeous wooden cabinetry. There is a separate laundry room.

The villa’s five bedrooms are comprised of three double rooms with ensuite bathrooms and two further rooms which share a bathroom. The rooms all have their own colour schemes, turquoise, yellow, orange and red with delightful vibrant colour pops in the form of curtains, rugs and other soft furnishings. Two of the bedrooms open to the pool terrace and another open to the morning terrace. There is a mix of double beds, twins and one room with bunk beds, ideal for children. The bunk bed room enjoys a unique wooden staircase to the upper bunk which also functions as a chest of drawers. The bathrooms are beautifully finished with a mix of baths and walk-in showers. Across the inner courtyard at the front of the house is an extension to the villa which is used as a games and playroom. It offers a snooker table for some family fun. There is also a table tennis table and to the east side of the villa, a petanque court.

Guests staying at Estoi Vistas will spend a lot of their time outside in the stunning gardens and on the terraces. The pool terrace enjoys beautiful views of the garden, the city of Faro and the Algarve coastline. The 13m x 5m swimming pool will no doubt be the scene of much family fun. It is surrounded by loungers and an outdoor shower. The veranda is a wonderful spot where you can listen to your favourite tunes on the Sonos sound system, enjoy your favourite tipples or dine alfresco on the massive table. Adjacent to the kitchen is a wonderful built-in outdoor barbecue. The landscaped garden enjoys 10000 sq metres of tropical plants and flowers, palms, fruit trees and climbing bougainvillea. It will definitely make you smile!

Estoi Vistas enjoys a lovely countryside setting, close to the quiet town of Estoi. Estoi enjoys plenty of shops and restaurants and some wonderful buildings. For boutique shopping, you can head to Mar Shopping, the luxury shopping mall. Next door to Mar is the Designer Outlet Algarve Village with many fashion and lifestyle brands.

There are many beaches within easy reach of the villa including the sensational Praia da Fuseta Beach, Vale do Lobo Beach, the beautiful Garrao Beach and the breathtaking Quinta do Lago Beach. The Ria Formosa Nature Reserve is a stunning natural park of sandbanks, barrier islands, salt marshes and lagoons which stretches 60km along the Algarve coast from Faro and the fishing town of Olhao to Tavira and beyond. The park is a haven for wildlife including flamingos and chameleons. There are some amazing beaches on the islands that rest close to the coast, including Farol Island, Culatra Island, Armona Island, Tavira Island, Deserta and Fuzeta. You should take one of the little wooden boats over to the beach. It makes for a very special day out. Ilha da Culatra is beautiful and perfect for snorkeling and diving. Ilha do Farol is at the area at the western end of Culatra with a lighthouse. Ilha da Armona is the nearest to Olhao and boasts a few fish restaurants as well as a gorgeous, golden sandy beach. The islands are especially beautiful at sunset. Tavira Island is further along the coast and is definitely worth a visit. You can take a ferry ride across the River Gilao. Praia do Barril is reached by a 1km pretty track or a cozy train ride once you have crossed the water. The town of Tavira, roughly twenty minutes from the villa, is beautiful with charming, narrow streets lined with cute cafes and decked with flags and colourful flowers. Tavira lies along the slow flowing Gilao River and is a delightful mix of traditional Portuguese heritage with Moorish influences.

Vilamoura Marina is the largest and classiest marina in the Algarve. It is brimming with luxury yachts and fabulous eateries. The nightlife is excellent. Faro Marina and Olhao Marina also offer boat trips and wonderful restaurants. Olhao currently takes roughly 400 boats though it is being extended. Restaurants, bars, pastry shops, ice cream parlours and shops line the marina. It was in Olhao that the first canning factory was established in 1882, sparking a trend that spread in both directions along the coast, with canned tuna and sardines becoming a large source of income for the Algarve. The old quarter of Olhao brims with Moorish-style houses, square and whitewashed with flat terraced roofs and boxed chimneys. The church of Nossa Senhora do Roario dates back to the 17th century and the chapel behind it, dedicated to Nossa Senhora dos Afelitos, is still the place where the fishermen’s wives gather during stormy weather to pray for their husbands. The long, delightful promenade is very attractive with the Jardim Pescador do Olhanense gardens. The fishmarket on the waterfront is Olhao’s main draw. It is buzzy and quaint and sells honey, live chickens, a huge array of local produce as well as many types of fish. There are fabulous, atmospheric cafes and restaurants overlooking the colourful boats moored along the water front in the marina and the sandy beach ilhs of Armona and Culatra.

You will see the twinkling lights of Faro from the villa. Faro Old Town is beautiful, perfect for an afternoon or evening visit. You will enter through the town’s 11th century Arab gateway, Arco da Vila, the oldest horseshoe arch in the country. The old town is a charming labyrinth of pretty narrow streets. The Manuel Bivar Gardens are very pretty and the Municipal Museum is very interesting.

Golf can be enjoyed at the nearby world class Monte Rei Golf Club, the Quinta do Lago Golf Club or the prestigious Victoria Golf Club to the west. There are so many more options too with sixteen courses within a short drive of the villa. Since 2013, the Victoria Golf Course, designed by Arnold Palmer, has hosted the Portuguese Masters.

THE REGION

Estoi is a fascinating little town hidden away a few kilometres from the Algarve coastline. It makes for a perfect home base while exploring the region, although there is not much going on in the village itself.

Estoi is simple and picturesque, with cobbled streets, whitewashed houses and terracotta roofs. You can begin your exploration of the region’s history right here with the Palácio de Estoi, an exquisite rose-coloured rococo palace which is open to the public and nowadays run as a hotel.

Close by there are also the ruins of a Roman villa dating all the way back to the 2nd century AD. But most of what you’ll be doing in the village of Estoi is relaxing and looking on as local life goes around you, as well as travelling to explore the Algarve on your own terms.

ABOUT THE ALGARVE

Though most people tend to see the Algarve as all about the beaches and a holiday on the Med, there’s far much more to it than that.

But while you’re enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Algarve, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we’ve put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!

Estoi Vistas is perfect for a family holiday. There is a children’s bunk bedroom, a wonderful swimming pool, a petanque court, a snooker table, table tennis and a gorgeous garden.

If you want to visit a water park while you are away, the Algarve has four of them. Slide & Splash, Aqualand, Aquashow and Atlantic Park are all good fun. You will find lazy rivers, thrilling water slides, various pools and other attractions such as animal shows. Slide & Splash offers birds of prey presentations, reptiles and macaw presentations as well as excellent, adrenaline rush slides. The 4-man Big Wave ride surprises even the most adventurous. Aquashow Family Park is located in Quarteira and Aqualand Algarve is situated in Alcantarilha, between Albufeira and Portimao where you will find the highest water slide of the Algarve.

There are many wonderful beaches to discover including some very special ones on the Ria Formosa islands. Ilha Deserta is one of the most beautiful of the Ria Formosa islands. You can take a speed boat from Faro Old Town or an organised boat trip from Olhao to explore Ilha Deserta. There are many opportunities for boat trips from Olhao, including dolphin watching and sunset trips.

Another popular activity is to explore the wonders of the Ria Formosa Nature Park by renting bicycles. There are dedicated cycle routes you can try out such as the Ecovia Litoral Algarve or the Great Route of the Via Algarviana. You can rent bikes from as little as one hour or more than three days. Another way of exploring the nature park is to kayak. You will have the chance to explore the channels and marshes and even stop to observe the birds and other animals.

If your children like horseriding there are several options. The Vilamoura Equestrian Centre has fabulous facilities, a very happy atmosphere and entertaining shows in the arenas and competition areas. Pinetrees Riding Stables offer tuition for riders from 4 years old through pine forests, on the beaches and also through the Ludo Valley’s orange groves.

Tavira is lovely and very family friendly with children welcome at all the charming restaurants. You can visit the spectacular beach on Tavira Island or travel to Pego do Inferno with its stunning natural waterfall. You can spend the day listening to the water cascading over the rocks and playing of the small pebbled beach.
