Outdoor Pursuit & Activities
The sports and entertainment facilities at Colina Village ensure that guests have plenty of activities to choose from during their stay. Soothing swimming awaits guests in the outdoor saltwater pools. Parasols on the terrace are also available. Leisure activities and facilities at the accommodation include tennis, Nordic walking and hiking or, for a fee, cycling/mountain biking. Situated just under an hour from Prado Airport, and 1.5km from the beach, Carvoeiro is a picturesque fishing village inhabited as early as the Ancient Roman Empire when tuna fishing was the sole provider for the economy. This beach hamlet offered protection to the fisherman of the time and has since developed into a quaint white-washed village complete with all the modern amenities one could ask for.
Ocean erosion has been the natural designer of water spouts and grottoes, perfect vantage points for marine life spotting including dolphins in their pods of twelve. Guests can go snorkelling or diving, or for those who prefer to stay on dry land, they can play Golf in Vale de Milho, a par-3 course designed by Dave Thomas who himself took part in the Ryder Cup not once but four times. Surrounded by beaches and with a population of less than 3000 people, Carvoeiro has managed to retain its authentic Portuguese charm.
Praia de Carvoeiro is the main beach just behind the town and is sheltered by dominating cliff faces on either side, local bars and cafes just a few steps away in case you need a cool beverage. Walking tours will provide perfect vistas of the ocean and will most likely lead you to Fort of Senhora da Conceição dating back to the 17th century. Be it seaside fun, cultural discovery or delectable indulgence, Carvoeiro is the ideal destination for a Portuguese getaway and perfect base for a journey through the Algarve region

The Region
Carvoeiro has always been known for its beautiful coastline, adorned with cliffs, coves and incredible sandy beaches stretching all the way along to Albufeira. These days, however, there is a lot more going on in this charming town than just waves hitting the sand (although that’s certainly still a highlight).
In the past few years Carvoeiro has developed to accommodate for the growing number of tourists who are curious to see what the fuzz is all about, and the town continues to get livelier and livelier each summer. While it has kept its character and remains exquisitely peaceful, there are also plenty of modern amenities and loads of exciting activities in the area. The only thing Carvoeiro won’t provide is a good party, but there are other parts of the Algarve which are perfect for that.
