As they say, all roads lead to Rome, so the city is pretty easy to access. Over 10.5 million visitors make their way to the city each year, and although it is very walkable, cyclable and fairly flat, the city also has a convenient metro system and many, many taxis to get you about.
Rome is served by Fiumicino and Ciampino airports, both with straightforward train and bus links into the city. Flight time from the UK is around two hours.
Rome Termini connects the capital to cities across Italy, making it easy to combine Rome with Florence, Naples or further afield.
Rome is wonderfully walkable, and many of its highlights are best discovered on foot. The metro and buses are useful for longer journeys, while taxis are plentiful and often the simplest option. Driving in the city centre isn’t recommended due to restricted traffic zones.
