Just a 20 minute drive away from terrific beaches and 30 to 45 minutes away by car to a multitude of picturesque towns such as Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Alberobello. In addition, you can reach the buzzing cities of Bari and Lecce in just 1 hour.

About the surrounding area of Villa MelaVilla Mela offers a sensational location, sitting amongst spectacular natural scenery as well as being a short drive away from amenities. Reach the terrific city of Ostuni in just a 10 minute drive where you will be treated to a wide array of marvellous restaurants, bars, museums and historical landmarks. Some of the best places to try out the local cuisine in this city are Osteria Piazzetta Cattedrale and Osteria Del Tempo Perso located in an ancient cave. The closest supermarket to the villa is also just a 5 minute drive away.
What’s more, Ostuni is commonly known as “La Città Bianca” due to the gorgeous white washed buildings in its old town. Therefore, a stroll through this charming part of the city is a must-do. Additionally, don’t miss the Duomo di Ostuni, the city walls and the Arco di Scoppa. You’ll find some of the best ice cream in town at La Cremeria La Scala and for some impressive architecture head to the main square, Piazza della Libertà.
Moreover, at Villa Mela you are only a short drive away from some tremendous beaches. From this property you can get to the fabulous Costa Merlata beach in just 20 minutes by car. Some other nearby beaches worth visiting include the dazzling Quarto di Monte beach and Spiaggia di Torre Guaceto. Both are between a 25 to 30 minute drive away from the property.
Furthermore, this villa is ideally situated to explore the rest of the region as you can easily reach some of the prettiest towns in Puglia. For example, you can drive to the idyllic Città Bianche, Locorotondo and Martina Franca in a short 30 minutes. In addition, the equally stunning town of Alberobello is only 45 minutes away by car, where you can admire the iconic trulli typical of the Puglia region.
For day trips slightly further afield head to the enchanting cities of Bari and Lecce, only 1 hour away by car from the villa. Both of which boast outstanding food, culture, architecture and friendly people. Additionally, you can get to the hidden gem of Puglia, Monopoli and the breathtaking coastal town of Polignano a Mare in 45 minutes.

The kids are sure to love paddling in the crystal clear water and building sandcastles. Moreover, drive 20 minutes to Diana Marina where you can take advantage of the fantastic water sports on offer such as wind surfing and diving tours. This beach also offers great boat tours for the whole family.
For an active and fun-filled day out drive just 15 minutes away to Bike Rent where you can hire bikes and cycle along the coast. Slightly further out, you can reach the wonderful waterpark, Splash Parco Acquatico, in 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The house belongs to our grandparents and has been expertly restored.
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The house belongs to my grandparents, who cultivated these lands from which they obtained wine, oil, fruit and vegetables for their livelihood.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
Every area and every room treasures tangible memories of love and passion for this country, that left an indelible mark on the original tuff stones and floor stones.
The scent of wine-making wafted around all the rooms, spreading a unique and intense perfume in the whole mansion. The entire family gathered for the rituals of wine and olive oil making. Everyone played their part. Today the voices, the traditions and those special rituals give shape and warmth to the rooms. Every memory remains and preserves the original beauty.
For this reason the rooms of our mansions are so original. The scent of wine mingles with the history of olive oil and with the scents of aromatic herbs typical of the Mediterranean area, such as rosemary, oregano, basil. These aromatic herbs can provide our guest with culinary and cultural enrichment. Our grandmothers used these herbs with traditional dishes, and made them even more tasty. The history of our mansion preserves an ancient family memory, of waking up at dawn every day and transmitting honest and sober values.

Incredible location, nothing is missing in the villa. We had a wonderful time, immersed in the thousand-year-old nature of the Apulian countryside. And then the sea and the alleys of the ancient village are a magical experience.
